Warden-Skill "Scorch": Haj Mota vs. Shalk

Hello guys,

I am veeeeery sad, because yesterday I've seen that the skill "scorch" of the warden is redesigned. Before it was a Haj Mota. Now we have shalks.

I love Haj Mota <3<3<3

The redesign of the skill is okay, but can't we get as the visual effect the Haj Mota back instead of the new shalks?

Please, Eric and Carrie, pleaaaase! :#

They mostly said they changed it due to technical issues with the Haj Mota.

I agree with you. It would be awesome for one morph to be shalks while the other (stamina morph probably) was a Haj Mota.

Anyone have a link so I can't watch the ESO live and see what's up with the warden? Thanks.

    Should be this link Here.

They show off the Animal Companion skill line only. Later ESO Lives will show off Green Balance and Winter's Embrace.

    It's fantastic! :)

From watching the changes made on ESO live I can say I really like it, I think it will be better than what I play tested at ZOS. Like @Wrobel said, it was really hard to see if you shot it off and it was really hard to aim that thing and it was easy to dodge, this is still a skill shot but its not as hard and its more consistent and I think its gonna be better for all players regardless of skill level.

would have been better to unlock the major expedition skill first for a new character, instead of waiting on horse timers. being last in the skill line is pointless regardless of the minor buff you get(reminds me of blade cloak).
anyone notice the costs of the skills? 2400? i hope thats just because she has no CP's assigned

Feel like zos listened to me here on this one. Really against them as the pc interface is horrific. But they have just subtly added them in not gone all starship enterprise on it like the pc add on amateurs did. Non intrusive and flashy crap. GJ zos....now just get us a trial working. Oh wait eta 2 months.

More likely they changed it to match the "Morrowind" theme of the other summons, although the whole class itself doesn't seem to go together at all, Dunmer who are the natives of Morrowind are more about fire then ice yet the ice class summons creatures native to their land.

I think it goes together wonderfully. Ice and Nature fit quite nice, especially because the Warden's color scheme is rounded out so well between blue and green colors (Ice magic is a pale blue cold, Animal's spawn with a green/blue teal color, healing magic is a forest green, etc). Imo it's perfect.

Agree to disagree. I am permanently maining Warden upon release, and am dropping my Mag Sorc who I've played since launch. :)

No offense but looking at the abilities the class does seem kind of weak and relying on summons to be your main source of DPS isn't a good idea as the games AI is terrible.

True but things work different here. Only two of the pets have actual AI, the rest of them (flecherflies, cliff racer, shalk) are just damage effects that visually look like animals. They don't have their own separate AI like the Bear or Netch do.

As for the AI-driven pets....... the Netch follows close to you and is quite simple, so it works well.

The Bear had a completely reworked AI and looks very good now tbh. It attacks every one second, runs fast, and your Heavy Attacks control which enemy it focuses. Much more reliable than Sorcerer pets.

I recommend you watch the ESO Live from yesterday. It really does look great and I'm sure you'd at least somewhat agree!

Having the ability of playing with the original skill, I am super happy that it was reworked. The Haj Mota was crucial for the Warden to be unique and to have any semblance of power, but the skill required an absurdly high management and skill cap that few people would have ever been able to use it, and wasn't nearly rewarding enough for the amount of effort it required.

It's unfortunate that we won't see any turtle bro's, but it's wayyyy better off for the health and longevity of the class.

I never got to see the Haj Mota :disappointed: I hope you're right. It sounded so cool! These shalks are just as awesome though imo

What kinda sucks is the fact that the stamina morphs don't add anything new to the ability AT ALL. They literally just convert the ability to stamina. The only exception is the Scorch which gives Fracture and Breach.

I can see why they could remove the Haj Mota, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the Morrowind themed skills, and yes, that includes the bear because there was a "call bear" (and wolf) ability in Bloodmoon.

A paralyzing scrib would be cooler imo. ;)
    Shalks are okay though.

Yeah true. Would be cool if some more of the Stam morphs had differences, even if miniscule at best. They may have gone about it this way because Warden already has access to so many different buffs/debuffs.

Still I think it turned out well enough for Stamina. Stam Wardens will be powerful in PvP, and in PvE it is Stamina as a whole that needs buffs.

There is no more cost reduction CP in Morrowind. So skill costs are going way up for everything.

They said it in the last ESO-Live Shows, when I remember correctly. The playstyle at the moment is not that type of thing, they want to have, because nobody cares of stamina or magicka recovery. Before the championsystem it was different.

Some of the Champion-"points" in the Championtrees will be redesigned and that is also the cost reduction (both, stamina and magicka).

So with Morrowind you have to think about your playstyle and maybe you will have to eat reg-buffood or other enchants or other sets to fit that loss of 15% cost reduction.

The only one of them that is a summon is the bear everything else is just an animation of you summoning a creature that disappears after it has done its animation. And the Bear can easily be directed by a quick heavy attack, and if I remember right they will add that to the sorc pets but that can also be false. I think with that change thou pets in general will be easier to use. So your argument is flawed. It can do plenty of damage with the cliffracer for example and its not a summon, and the Shalks is a great AoE Dmg/debuff skill, and the fletcherflies is a good class DoT.
