Stealing mudcrab apples

Has anyone managed to steal the mudcrabs for the Ebonheart festival quest without being detected? I failed with my Khajiit NB, even with a stealth draught, so I'm buggered if I can see a way. If it really is impossible then very much not col, ZoS.

It's confirmed, the apple basket is bugged, it unstealths you and it shouldn't.

I managed to steal it without being detected once. Jumped on the cart and did it from there.

I got caught because the npcs wouldn't load so i had no idea where anyone was at... i sat there for a while trying to go stealth and gave up... just snatch and grab

I've gotten away with it once, but I think someone lured away the NPCs that time...so I returned the favor the next run; I've been wanting to work on the bounty achieve anyway.

i almost tried that, but i could never find a spot on the cart that i was not already detected...will check that out again

Hmm...I tried it after reading this, and a misstep led to the unfortunate bloody massacre of every Ashlander in the tent. That's how we khajiit nightblades "jest," and at least I had something to do with one of the 270 purple leniency slips I have in my inventory.

In other totally unrelated news, here's a recipe for authentic Hawaiian Kahlua Pig:

1 boneless pork shoulder or butt roast, 3-6 lbs
3-6 tablespoons kosher salt, or black/red volcanic sea salt if available
Liquid smoke
Optional: can crushed pineapple

Instructions:

Place pork fat side up in slow cooker. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt per pound onto pork. If using pineapple (adds liquid and flavor), spread around base of roast. Pour 1 tsp per lb liquid smoke over salted roast. Cook on high 8-12 hrs or over night until pork is shreddable.

Tips: you make use 1/2 pork tenderloin steaks, placed under butt roast, for a lower fat option. You can also cook during the day then refrigerate overnight...the fat will collect at the top and solidify so that you can skim it off.

Serve with traditional mac salad, sticky rice and Hawaiian rolls.

I just walk up, grab them, and walk straight to the nearest guard, pay a small fine, and continue on with the quest. You don't fail the quest for paying a bounty.

Yes. From an angle where the cart was to my right and I guess the NPCs were facing the required direction.

I succeed about 75% of the time. The last time I did it I didn't even bother to crouch and managed to not be seen somehow...

I just walk up - run up pick up and head off, if a guard gets you just pay fine and continue with quest. I have been court on the way to pig and also on the way back it doesn't interrupt quest.

I just take the basket of apples in broad daylight, saunter up to a guard, pay the bounty, then carry on to steal Princess.

Yes but it is annoying when you get 'caught' even after taking an invisibility potion......it may be bugged on ps4.

otoh, i've been detected when all the npc's were dead.

go figure.

Think I managed to do it once. It's clearly bugged or scripted such that stealth doesn't work at all. I just steal it without sneaking and then going straight to a guard to pay of the small bounty and the proceeding with the quest. The Apple quest item doesn't count as a stolen item, so it won't be lost upon getting taken by a guard.

I don't know if the npc's were looking away or not; the one sitting on the crate with a quest arrow above his head always seems to be oriented toward the cart. However, the last couple times I was sneaking on right side of the cat as you face it's opening, clicked only once on the basket, and quickly backed-up with no bounty. My toon never "rose" so was never spotted.

Hide at the back of the cart. If your stealth eye is closed you can safely steal them. Even though you unstealth the cart blocks you from their view.

Would prefer an option to also buy. Some of my characters are lawful good and I despise any quests that force thievery/trespassing, etc.

i dun know. I first did this event on xbox then came over to pc not to long ago. always got detected, and paid the fine. but since i'm still new to PC environment, I wanted to get the achievement for running away from guard.

Uh.... I did it on both my accounts.... on my redguard mains. No problem. Yes, they were stealthed. No they didn't get detected. No they didn't have bounties.

i did the same thing for the first time ever this evening, and this is my 3rd festival. I'd tried from the cart b4, but was never undetected until tonight...

But you are perfectly fine by cutting down and killing human being in dungeon just so you can get some part for firework?

Am I the only person who just takes them???...…

and then runs after every guard trying to pay my bounty...……. those guards are seriously lazy at taking out thieves!!

Yes becuase anyone in a dungeon is obviously evil and asking for it- except us who go in to purge the evil!
