Not sure if serious or troll, but frankly, once you hit 50 is when they actually become worth doing.

Once you get everything to 50, move on to the next toon and do your writs every day. I do writs on about 8 toons a day, and will do upwards of 13 during an event.

Simply put, writs are one of the most efficient daily activities you can do for 30 minutes a day (takes me 28 minutes to do 8). I have well into the 8 figures of gold, hundreds and hundreds of all the gold mats, more repair kits and soul gems than I could possibly use, and it is all thanks to writs. On average, 8 toons will give you 40k gold, probably 12-15 gold mats of various types, around a dozen surveys, and a several master writs depending on research on motif knowledge.

If I had to start a new account from scratch, first thing I am doing is leveling 6-8 characters to start doing writs. It's not a get rich quick scheme, but once you get a month or two of them under your belt, you will never worry about gold or gold mats again.

Okay, everyone's telling you the "good" side of doing daily writs.

Now it's time for the reality.

Then you get to decide if it's "worth it".

    Gold:
You get the same amount if you're level 1 or 1000. The trade off depends on how valuable you find the mats. I have 4 alts: 2 are maxed skill points and 2 are (intentionally) level 1. I get the same gold amounts for each turning in 7 daily writs.
I went to at level 1 because 100+ CP160 mats isn't worth the gold. You could literally sell the mats and make far, far more gold.

    Master Writs:
Are you researched in all 9 traits for everything? Do you have 45+ motifs learned, all pages?
No? Well, this is where the game punches you in the face because 99% of all master writs you'll get, if you're not motif-ready or research leveled, will be those you cannot do.

    Exp:
There is a very small gain to your level, skills, and armor, which you can earn 1000% just by questing.

    Time:
The more alts you have, the more time you spend grinding. I average 5 minutes per alt, or 20-25 minutes per day.
Protip: you can pre-craft the foods, potions, and poisons and stick them in the bank so you can shave precious minutes from doing them every day.

    Overall reward:
Writs from Master crafting. By accumulating these writs, you can acquire some in-game items not easily found without this system, such as your own crafting stations (both regular and attunable, which allows you to create any crafting station in the game), transmutation station, select items, and motifs.

THIS is where you'll need to decide if it's worth it.

Having 7 crafting stations in my house... made it worth it to me.

    Hope this helps. :)

Gold: it is a wash based on your level, but almost 5k per toom adds up fast.

Master writs: All my toons are level 50 in all disciplines (except a few jewelry). They very wildly in terms of research and motif knowledge. Yes they help, but to this day, the biggest writ I got was from a toon that had nothing researched and knew only the blue motifs. I get plenty of high value writs from all my toons. You then simply do them on your main crafter. If you do them an sell voucher items, you will average 500-600 gold per voucher after you factor in expenses. Of course, some simply aren’t worth doing.

Experience: nobody does these for xp.

Time: I am slightly faster than what you posted, but frankly the biggest variable is your loading screens. Crafting writs are extremely efficient reliable when compared to other gold grinds.

Not sure what having stations in your house has to do with anything unless you are making the point that doing writs is how you acquired them. As we can’t turn in or pick up quests in our home, it is not efficient from a time perspective to do writs at your personal station. It adds in 2 loading screens into th the equation. Really hard to beat summerset for an efficient crafting spot that is close to both the writ boards and the turn ins.

They are 100% worth doing. If you want to spend 30 minutes a day to build wealth, crafting writs are the best place to start.

i have 10 chars at max level and only 1 of them is a crafter and i do writs with all of them because 7 writs give you 4600 gold per char AND you get the mats back aswell so its basically free gold with very little time spent! (talking about lowest level i.e. maple, iron, cloth etc.). if my maths are correct and theres no tricks to this, i make 46k gold profit a day, which adds up quite nicely if you do them every day.

Noob question, but, writ quests are for building your crafting xp??

I don't even do writs until my crafter (I have 6, working on my 7th) reaches level 50. Before that, I just pass decon material to it from my other toons... items I find in the world or dungeons, or which I get from doing writs on my other crafters. Once my crafter is level 50 in a given craft, I start doing the dailies. Low level writs are mostly good only for inspiration. But max-level writs give you gold and all sorts of other goodies for modest effort.

I've got 30 characters doing max level writs as well. I don't always have enough time to do every single character but I do them when I can. Totally worth it.

I'm a bit of an oddity but i do 30 characters worth of writs a day. Thats 210 writs a day. 664 gold per writ. So im making 139,440 gold in a hour every day from just that.

I also get about 10 of each legendary material per day as well and those sell very well.

All my characters are set up for high master writ drop rate as well. Even more profit from them.

When it comes to the end of the week i'm pulling in 2,500,000 gold just by logging in each of my character 2 minutes a day to do these fast quests, and selling all the good items that come from them.

Im also sitting on a personal stock pile of over 2,000 of each legendary upgrade material.(Alloy, Wax, Rosin, Kuta)

So to answer your question, YES! Writs are sooooo worth doing at level 50.

Ok probably beating a dead horse, but what about Alchemy Writs after level 50? I've been doing them for a month now and getting nothing but materials. I've gotten a few master writs, small writs, yellow crafting materials, recipes from all the other crafts and I actually reached 50 in Alchemy FIRST. Is there any point to Alchemy writs other than the extra gold?

The master writs for alchemy are cheap and relatively easy to make, but consequently are only worth 2 or 5 vouchers depending on whether you get assigned a poison (2) or potion (5). The 6 alchemy items (2 items x 3 each) given in the reward crate are often undesirable ones, but they do create a slight increase in materials over time. And the "free" gold and/or xp is okay I guess, but my biggest reason for doing them is the chance for surveys. With the CP passive that offers a chance at x2 harvest at nodes, these surveys can result in a major cash cow if you sell mats, or save you money if you use them to craft your own pots.

TL;DR - I do alchemy writs for the chance at surveys.

Gold, master writs, gold mats, you will not need to purchase gold mats pretty mucvh ever, plus you get a billion surveys to build up your mats also.

    I do all writs every day pretty much on 12 characters and net a good bit of gold per week just for 30 mins work doing writs:}

I got much material and “inspiration” from doing writs. I found though that I leveled the crafting skills faster than I leveled my character. Lol. Like way faster, but that’s because I’m new and wasn’t power leveling my toon. I found it detrimental to drop skill points into crafting skills that were higher level than my character. It kept me from getting materials of my current level since many nodes are based on skill level (the passive at the top of the list of all the crafting skills). So I have like 500 iron but like hardly any hickory. Lol. Then i blew all my money buying mats for writs. I’m too lazy to shop around. So the trader kiosks at vanderfell can gouge me big time. Since I only craft there. Seems like a very well laid out crafting area. I pay for convenience and don’t shop around. An extra thousand for some 200 hickory is worth it to me. I’ve got the TTC addon and don’t care I’m paying double suggested price. I just want the material! But really I blew my money due to crafting some armor and upgrading it. Way too early. Should have waited until CP 160. Well I’ve added nothing of value here. I’m at the bar having some drinks and writing a wall of text for no real reason. Game on!

Vivec is best for doing writs, especially if you don't have banker (bank in Alinor is far from crafting zone). Everything close, even no doors. Only thing not near is outfit station - which isn't needed for dailies.
Best place in base game is Rawl'kha if I remember correct (never did there myself, though). I did in Mournhold before Vivec, but bank there is also far.

I do them for the materials and as a steady CP farm for little effort.

On a CP160+ character with ESO+ and Enlightenment they will return 3288XP each x 5 (Not counting JC yet) for 16440 x 8 characters 131,520 XP for a CP each day for less than 5 mins of time (good location and pre-made items).

During an XP event and with XP boosters they can reward 10K+ XP each for as long as your Enlightenment lasts.

Best reason to do them after 50 is for Master Writs if you think the mats are meh. Master writs can sell for over 100k depending on the number it gives you. Selling these easy makes up for the mat cost if you are breaking even there,.

Also with Master Writs you can buy extra storage rare recipes and exclusive mats.

And there is always Surveys, the easy way to farm mats.

Noob question, but, writ quests are for building your crafting xp??

You can also get some really nice rewards for the top level writs:
    - Gold upgrade materials
    - Psijic Ambrosia Fragments
    - Glass armor page fragments
    - surveys (useful at any level)
    - Master Writs (which reward writ vouchers upon completion, and allow you to purchase additional special mostly-housing items from the writ voucher vendor)

I highly recommend continuing to do them.

I have six master crafters and I do six writs on them almost every day and have for a long time. (I also do the jewelery but as 5 aren't max level I don't count them.) I have never, ever, ever gotten a Glass armor page fragment. Are you sure about this?

The maths is staggering. 6 x 6 x maybe 600 = around 21,600 writs I have completed for a total of 0 Glass armor page fragments ever. There is RNG and there is this does not work!

I have had hundreds of surveys and master writs as well as gold upgrade mats so it is well worth doing these writs at master level. I have also had bad luck with the Psijic Ambroisa Fragments and have gotten no more than a dozen of them over this time however there could be cause and effect here, while my guys have level 50 in provisioning most don't have the skill points put in here, enchanting or alchemy as you can't have everything right? :cold_sweat:

This is a necro'd thread... but I do writs on all 10 toons.
Main and one other toon do consumables and equipment.
Toons with Enchanting at 50 do Consumables, plus Clothing IF it's leathers and not Ancestor Silk.

The only writs I refuse to do are Alchemy ones that require Mudcrab Chitin, Violet Coprinus or Nightshade, since Chitin has a low drop rate and the other two aren't part of Surveys. When I get too low in Imp Stool I'm abandoning those too.
