It's pretty bad to think that if I throw my controller down to take out the trash and the joystick to hit the pillow strange.that I'll get banned for it. Especially if I paid my subscription every month for about two years.

It is silly to think you would. Uh. Unless your controller just happened to land so that it fired off a staff attack once a second for several hours at the exact spot the boss appears, every time you threw your controller down. :frowning: If that happens a lot, stop throwing down your controller.

What I see in this thread? I see thread about banned player who just AFK and watch movie while playing, who maximize his game for a few seconds for use abilities to get some damage to boss (for loot), then minimize game again and who was banned for this. BUT. I see in game real bot some months ago, record video with him actions, wrote to support and... NOTHING. They answered they make actions about this but I continue see this bot in game and nothing was do to this bot. It's correct or not? What you think?
I trying to get collectible from kagouti in three circles mine (before One Tamriel was released, I don't know for this moment about no loot from them except raw materials) and see player who runs by circle in this dungeon, always jumping in same place each circle, no answer to PM, etc. But this bot not be banned. In this thread I see ZOS bans normal players for nothing thinking about player is bot but why they not thinking about bots what I describe? Need to be nobel laureate for undestood about botting described by me?

A bot there for months. Seriously, the exact same player playing the exact same character at the exact same spot doing the exact same thing, months later?

I have been periodically visiting the dolmen near Vulkhel Guard and I don't see the same bots there from months ago, or even weeks ago. I see players in the same position, doing the same thing, but they are different players. For example, today, the AFK staff users are all gone. All that was there today was some idjit that is standing there swinging his axe over and over. Judging by the number of people running up to him and standing, my guess is that he is being reported. I expect he will be gone, never to be seen again, after a while.

Edit: I did see someone who was one of the ones just standing around firing his staff at the boss drop point at the Vulkhel Guard dolmen today. They were at a crafting station. Thought about asking if they ever got suspended for doing that, but decided to leave well enough alone.

No. After support answered I see this character for 3 days. After this he is gone but not by support actions, just gone himself.

How do you know that his went away on his own? Other than knowing the person who was doing to botting, how do you know they were not suspended for botting?

Very easy to understood. ZOS sayd "we make action to this character". After answer I see character not banned by actions that they do and other 2 mans seen this character in other location later.

So my friend who I often play with decided to eat and watch a movie while at a dolmen. As the dolmen would pop he'd throw off a few skillz to get credit... he has been farming his area set for a month with no luck.

Apparently some super smart GM from Zenimax banned him for 72 hours for botting.

So apparently its CLEAR you have no detection what so ever. He told me a GM had written him personally witnessing him bot. I call BS on that Zo$.

A Bot is a character who is using a macro or 3rd party application to automate features in game. Your right, Botting is bad. But you dont know your butts from a hole in the ground if this is how you treat your paying customers.

So the concern spreds... im in cyro lots and like to eat like all humans usually do. If i AFK and press jump every 5m will i get banned for botting too?

In a already broken game, make sure you can at least cover the basics guys. Seriously disappointed in you.

Your friend needs to get a clue.. either play the darn game.. or eat and watch a movie. Stop doing the rubberbanding stuff.. If you are not going to actively play the game... then close down the game client.

Late, but your friend was getting AFK experience. Basically doing something like keeping the attack button pressed with a staff to tag enemies for exp (or using a macro to attack and tag). ZOS considers this to be botting.

Im confused, I just scanned this whole thread, and people who aren't involved keep saying the banned guy was rubberbanding, but the op is saying he wasn't, but was simply going back and forth between watching a movie and manually playing the game when the dolmen pops.

Several days ago I was in a dolmen group and saw real rubberbanders blatantly standing there fconstantly iring at specific spots where dolmen mobs spawn. ALL DAY. Several people said they reported them but no GM did anything.

My guess is that the GM finally did a sweep not really caring if people actually resounded or not, wanting to get rid of all the real ruberbander, and then probably went on to other tasks because they were buisy or something.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

My guess it's not easy to detect a real bot compared to a person which is using macro's and application glitches during ZOS programming.

Many persons are being falsely accused(in-game) because of actions which the game in its programmed state allows.

Sure, mistakes happen, and there is probably the case where someone gets punished for something they were not doing. In general, when someone comes into the forum and starts talking about how there were no ToS violations, there were probably ToS violations.

A lot of people stand around dolmens and bosses waiting for the action to start. A fair number of them are AFK, or doing something else, while they wait. I have seen character stand there through an entire boss or dolmen sequence, unmoving. I have seen them wake up half way through. Things happen that take us AFK, and ZOS does not ban for this. No GM is going to be so blind as to not notice that this character that was standing there, unmoving, and not responding to whispers, suddenly comes alive and acts like a player while the boss is there.

My advice to anyone who is banned or suspended is to not come post about it in public, unless they wish to confess and use the experience as an example for others. It is not because of the forum rules (which should be enough reason), the ToS or the CoC. It is simply because there is no reason to believe the person. They are breaking the forum rules to explain how they were unjustly banned or suspended for not breaking the game rules. All we get is their side of the story, anyway.

Does not matter. Botting, macros, and exploting are all against the ToS. You can rage against that, if you want, but if the violation is serious, they will take action, even if "the game in its programmed state" allows it.

A primary purpose of the ToS/CoC is to define behavior that is possible to do that players should not be doing. The game programming is not some safety net that makes sure that we do not violate the ToS. It is actually the opposite. The ToS is there to stop us from abusing the game programming.
