I hate this, I'm getting too excited and anxious now and it's still a couple months away.

I have four main characters already, one for each class so I'm not really missing out on playstyle. All Khajiit of course. So I'd been thinking about my Warden. Definitely a Magicka build by the sound of it's Class Skills. Frost Damage oriented abilities? I believe this'll be a bonafide Ice Mage. Gonna go all Snow Tiger/Leopard to match the them too, give her a white coat color, maybe even dye the armor/costume wintery colors as well.

To say the least, it'll be different playing a DPS/Healer using an Ice Staff. However, with heavy attacks from the Frost Staff taunting, that may cause problems.

Nope, and I don't plan on making one until well after the hype is over. They'll be OP for a while and then nerfed into the ground. I'd rather not ride that FOTM train.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the winters embrace skill line is going to be defensive magic and used mostly in tanking. In sure someone will find a way to make a ice mage dps but the skills are mostly wards and buffs.

There's a few of the Winter's Embrace skills that do damage, (how much damage is still to be seen though..) but damage nonetheless. And of course I'm not talking about using JUST Class Skills. Destro skills have Ice variants when using a Frost Staff, not to mention the Winter's Embrace Ultimate is a large AoE Frost Damage ability.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to play as a somewhat ranged stamina DD so I have a stam character that doesn't have to spam flurry 80% of the time.

Sort of. I've planned my Warden out to be a Magicka Warden High Elf DPS.

I have full gold Necropotence, BSW, TBS, Julainos, and a few other gold sets specifically for Magicka DPS, including Ilambris and Grothdarr.

When Morrowind lands I'm gonna roll a warden and play through Morrowind on him. I think I wanna make him into a tank but I'm not sure. When passives and abilities is revealed, I will probably make a decision.

Ohhh I didn't think about Necropotence! I'm just tryna figure out weapons :/ Feels dumb slotting an inferno staff for a Warden... Ice Staffs is a no go for dps... hmm

If a tank ported into my vMoL instance like that, they'd either have to be a friend trolling for the lulz or a random without their skin..... or someone trying to get kicked.

A Warden tank will wear what all tanks are supposed to wear these days.

Offtanks go for Alkosh, Powerful Assault, Sunderflame, Troll King, Lord Warden, Sentinel, etc
Maintanks go for Ebon Armory, Alkosh, Lord Warden, Blood Spawn, Malubeth, Sentinel, etc

There are more sets than this but the idea is to support your group as much as possible instead of your own build. Since surviving with a tanky build is already easy enough, using a bunch of tanky sets is totally overkill and deprives your team of useful group buffs.

Sorry if you're talking about PvP though  In that case you'd be right. Just not the case for PvE.

With all those pets there's a chance it could be really powerful on a Warden. We'll see when we have more details.

As for cold damage who knows man.... I'm hoping there might be a super powerful +Cold Damage passive! something like 10-15% damage (plz ZOS) ;)

Yess! But Ice Staffs are so hard to light/heavy attack with compared to Inferno Staffs. If only they changed the animation of light/heavy with ice Staff to work the same way as an inferno staff but with ice spikes or something like that.

I upgraded my Moondancer sharpened Ice staff to legendary yesterday. I really hope my Warden can make use of it

Also I agree about the heavy attacks. Imo they should give Ice staves a (slightly) new stance to differentiate it from Inferno/Shock staves.

Reviving the old two-handed staff animation and applying it only to Ice staves might be cool.

I've chosen a "theme" for them.

Going to go with a Dunmer who studies Dwemer and have a Dwemer theme, pets, mounts, costumes etc.

I am thinking of going with a play on the ice magic, getting my hands on the sets already in game, however if I want to play a tanking role I might need to wait and see if Morrowind brings any heavy ice sets.

I will make creature handler DPS for PvE solo stuff.

    Race: imperial
    Main: S&B
    offhand: Bow
Medium armor 5 pcs, 1 light, 1 heavy

I have the armor pieces ready for when he hits lvl 50.

Maybe some from healing tree so me and my wife can quest together and defeat bosses.

Going with a theme as well. Will be doing a Bosmer warden healer, using root magic.

And of course, stashing up on Wild Hunt cosmetics. Go green!

Animations aside and as the OP said, the main issue with frost staff is the taunt passive which makes it completely useless in mostly any PvE related content.I'd like to see anyone allowing a frost staff user in any trial and using a heavy attack on bosses :D.
So unless they remove the taunt there's no way for frost staff to be viable in PvE.

But I think it will be a PVP class (that can do things in PVe that the classes already existing do).
