Amazon actually takes a material loss on their returns, yet they still oblige without any hesitation. That's why I continue to order from them, even when I could find something cheaper elsewhere.

Signing a ToS doesn't mean you can't advocate for better customer service.

Workers signed employee contracts to work 17 hours a day a hundred years ago. If no one asked for better working conditions, workers' rights would never have been expanded. Extreme example, but the same principle applies.

ZOS isn't a good company, it never has been.

It's a great studio with fantastic friendly and passionate developers, it's a terrible company.

I'm amazed you can't read what many are posting here - that they completely, absolutely understand there is no legal, TOS, or entitlement right - but are merely pointing out it would be a good customer service move for some form of compensation.

After over a decade of experiencing unexpected downtimes in mmo's, I just shrug it off and go do something else for s while.

These things happen, nothing we can do about it. Besides, there is always a reason.

That or the devs are cackling with nefarious laughter at us plebs as they troll us with completely random downtimes to satisfy their sadistic tendencies.

    Hey. You never know.

And I am pointing out that ZOS don't do good customer service most of the time.

As I said in this thread or one of the others I can count on one hand the number of times people have been given free time for outages.

Also how do they handle the compensation for non ESO plus members? Do they only give ESO+ members compensation? What about all the people playing free who missed out on game time, should they not get something as well?

Maybe they give everyone crowns for the downtime, what about all the console downtimes and extended EU downtime for the Homestead launch, do people get retroactive compensation for that?

It's a can of worms they're really not going to want to open when they can ignore it and this time next week no one will care.

Unfortunately it's common practice in the MMO industry to not compensate for server downtime. They have us by the balls.

How many people are going to leave the game over some server downtime? Maybe a few new players who bought the game for $10 and haven't invested any time or money into it, but that's it. Hardly worth the effort of preparing some kind of compensation package.

    Consider this...

Sub fee is 14.99 a month, if you pay monthly. Cheaper if you go 3/6 months at a time.

So 14.99 with an average of 30 days a month = 49.9 cents USD a day.

    49.9 a day = 2.07 cents an hour.

If the server is down for 4 hours at a time, as was the case a few time this weekend, then you lose LESS THAN 10 cents.

If you're worried/complaing over 10 cents, then you have bigger issues then not being able to play a game.

The whole point of the event was to serve as a stress test....regardless of what caused the servers to go down, server outage has to be expected during a stress test.

Enough with this entitlement BS, everyone agreed to a non-guarantee of server uptime 24/7 in the TOS so why is this even an issue.

    This generation is screwed.

If the servers were offline for three days or more I could see them doing something to appease people, however I don't think one downtime even in peak times is enough to make them start compensation.

It sucks, and I feel for those affected but I think right now them doing anything to appease the few (116 votes in two polls) asking on these forums. There are many people who will shrug it off and not care, so they're not exactly under pressure to buckle.

I'm more worried about this generation's apathy towards civil engagement. Protesting for greater rights (consumer rights, labour rights, legal rights, it doesn't matter) at every opportunity is why we have the rights we do today.

I think comparing the civil liberties of the modern world to a load of keyboard bashing forum goers after some free stuff because they lost out on some bonus AP from a free bonus event is not really comparing Apples to Apples..

I countered your hyperbole with one of my own. I don't see the problem.

But slacktivism and apathy towards social issues are genuine problems with today's generation.

To all those who want compensation, group together and file a complaint with the reason of the outage for the week-end : DDOS attack organisation.
Ic3 is meant for Internet Crime Complaint and take care of E-mail Extortion Campaigns Threatening Distributed Denial of Service Attacks

Rather than complain here again and again, attack the right organism, not the one who suffered from it.

why not?An extension for AP buff or 100% bonus xp next weekend to make up for the downtime seem fair enough to me. some people had on going issues and couldn't get in for 26 hours only to be greeted by a maintenance wall
