Magsorc VMA - monster set choice

Hello everybody.

I've been using for my VMA clears Julianos/Elegant setup with Molag Kena. Now, I find this build still strong and fitting my playstyle perfectly but with the reduced stored ultimate, greater resource management is needed.

One thing came to my mind but I am incapable of calculating differencies. How do compare Slimecraw with Molag Kena?

Slimecraw
Permanent minor berserk (+8% damage)
Some irrelevant health recovery

Molag Kena
129 permanent spell damage
516 spell damage for Overloads at 33% increased cost

Well, in terms of non-Overload times, Slimecraw is clearly better.
But how does it affect Overloads? Does total 825 SD from Kena increase the dmg of overload more than raw 8% increase from Slimecraw?

Thanks for answers and sorry for bothering you guys.

If Kena fits your playstyle well and youre already clearing comfortably, managing 500 ulti instead of 1000 shouldnt be a problem. Not very many things need more than 500 to burn anyway, and you build it fast in VMA with the undaunted passive.

Never used Slimecraw - and I dont really use overload in vma, I always use ilambris, (destro ulti with meteor) so other than that I can't be very helpful.

ilambris does a ton of damage, can proc multiple elements - and in the final round the procs eat through the crystals faster, and interesting note, you can get damage on the crystals even before going up there by having it proc on mobs down below, the elemental rain stuff can hit the crystals up top lol.

Llambris ^ it's the only way to fly

You can also use Valk Skoria I've done solid testing and it's nice to get the extra 1k HP if you seem to be clutching at straws :) Llambris or Skoria will do fine.

just to add to the extra health option.... if you slot any pet on your bars and have the passives... you get an extra 1k-ish health too ;)
i had a hard time dumping TBS on my sorc until i started using the volatile familiar.. Adds a lot of damage and the little health boost. I realize it won't work on all builds, but to me it was worth changing my build.

And what if you don't want to run pets? Without pets you nees to constantly kite so Illambris effect is conpletely negated.

Pets are just lame. Overload ftw.

except overload doesn't really compete anymore in a dps race... pet builds top 40k+ and heavy attack builds are well into the 30k area.

also, thats not true at all. Illambris procs all the time and its effect only lasts 5 seconds. It hits ALL the time.
PS. If you're constantly kiting enemies outside of your aoe damage... then you're kiting wrong and losing a ton of dps.

nothing wrong with overload... its just not great now since the ultimate nerf.

You could also consider running Grothdarr. I ran that for a while in VMA. I ended up switching back to Ilambris simply because of preference, but there are enough melee adds that run straight for you to warrant Grothdarr. If you find yourself kiting often, it would be a good fit for that, too.

Don't wear it in Umbrage though, unless you want to be on your back every time the behemoth screams.
