Does anyone actually think questing is fun?

Personally, I preferred the first generation MMORPGs which didn't have quest markers. You spoke to every NPC you encountered and followed their responses when working out where to go. Even earlier, with RPGs before the internet came along you took notes, made maps, read manuals, and admired the box - ah, those were the days, kids have it so easy these days  !
Absolutely agree. Questing used to take planning, thought and preparation. I'm still clinging to that way of playing even now... or as best as I can.

I agree with this. I would LOVE questing if they actually made you use your brain. Since they don't, I don't.

The main reason why I have such nostalgia for Morrowind was because of the questing.
I'm kind of a small deal!

Let's be honest. This game got a huge majority of its initial player base because of the ES title and nothing more. I certainly fall into that category. If you don't like questing, what is the point of playing any of the first 5 ES games? So absolutely I like doing quests. Do I like doing the same quest over and over? Not particularly, but that's a different issue. I never skip dialogue the first time.

The first time I did them, yes I did generally enjoy questing.

Questing is the reason I am still here.

There needs to be more quests, more hours, more reason to do it.

I have to admit, though, with as many alts as I have, I've done most of the quests many times over. When I've done a quest so many times that I know more or less exactly what all of the dialogue is, I do tend to just skip right through it. The first couple of times I do a quest (more times if there are multiple dialogue branches you can take) I pay attention and listen to all of it. Later on, if I've forgotten some details I may do the same. Or if I just happened to really enjoy the story or characters in that particular quest. If I still remember the quest very well, though, and there are no additional dialogue options that I haven't explored, I'll often skip right through.

I'm somewhat racist when it comes to questing in ESO. If it's some stupid elf or human talking I'll almost always skip through the dialog, but if a Khajiit or Argonian has something to say I'll listen to every world.
:) not that level however having an alt who will reach reaper march next week, Khajiit looking forward too it, will buy an good whiskey to enjoy with it.
One of the nice things with one tamriel is that you can mix thing a lot. One guildmate went back to do overleveled quests and he told about the famous gay bosmer one.

I'm another one who really enjoys questing in this game and most others I play. (The others aren't ones where I don't enjoy it, they're different types of games with nothing that can be described as questing.)

No it's not the most amazingly fantastic writing I've ever encountered, or the most deep and thought-provoking dialogue or especially challenging to complete beyond some of the fights. But I still find it fun to do. I get into the storylines and I especially like the little bits of lore and detail about the world, and the occasional reoccurring characters.

I couldn't imagine playing an RPG, online or otherwise, without caring about the quests. To me that is the game. It'd be like trying to play an RTS without caring about your tactics or what the enemy is doing.

    This here.
As the central feature of almost every single DLC and now the Morrowind xpac, does anyone actually enjoy questing? I would think that most people are like me and just skip the dialogue and move to the objective that the all knowing marker tells me to go to. There's no choice, consequence, or impact to any of my actions and listening to dialogue for 5 minutes at a time seems tedious and keeps me away from what I really want to be doing which is killing things.

I am not like that. The only reason I'm playing this game is because of the association with the Elder Scrolls series and how much I enjoyed those games - including the questing. If that wasn't in the game, I wouldn't be playing.

I enjoyed the Wrothgar storyline, although I was disappointed that you couldn't choose sides.

I'm new to the game and I'm on my first toon, but so far I've also found the Daggerfall storyline interesting - I listen and read the dialog.

If I make an alt, I probably wouldn't listen/read dialog a 2nd time around though.

Depends on the quest with alts for me. Some stories are so good I'll listen to the dialog and get right into it again, others are less interesting so I'll skip ahead.

It also depends on why I'm questing. If I'm doing it to play the game then I take it slower and enjoy the story. If it's just to burn through the quest for the skill point then I just tear through.

My main was a different story though. With him I listened to everything. Every quest, every zone.

I like the quests alot, and I actually listen to the dialogue because it feels like I'm a character in a story interacting with the other characters in the story. What I don't like is that every single quest ends at a boss that I have to pull a guild member in to help me kill. The HP on some of those bosses is unreal.

My first character I did every quest, listened to all the dialog, read every lore book I found and looked in around and under everything in the zone. Did it all with no add-ons to make sure I enjoyed as much of what is in the game as possible.

Ten characters in now and I often skip the dialog other than a few favorites. I only do the quests that give me skill points and have add-ons that show me where all the skyshards and other goodies are at.

If/when we get new quests I will do each a couple of times letting the dialog play through.

I plan on doing a playthrough of all content with one of my warden characters where I listen to every bit of dialog and read every book/letter. I don't know if there are any resources online that list all the letters in delves and such.

The hard part would be group dungeons since people will be impatient.

Questing is amazing, I could never figure out why the Doom crowd would want to play a MMO like this, but if that's your thing....whatever. As long as you can't interfere with my experience while grouping.

I enjoy it. But, a pet peeve of mine is the obvious inconsistency in the level of quality of certain quests dialogue and so sometimes I think to myself why am i even wasting my time listening to this rubbish dialogue that's probably written while sitting on a toilet. Needless, to say there are some REALLY great great great quest lines and those make up for everything.

I'm a mix, I play through all the quests paying attention to story the first time, then on repeats later I might, or I just ram through it.

Also anyone that is here playing that came here because it is a TES title is most likely largely involved with story lines.

I enjoy it all. Quests, PVP, Housing, and Dungeons. Its nice that ESO has so much to do. I started PVP because I was tired of doing quests. I take breaks from PVP and do some quests. And every now and then I do a dungeon. And when I just want to do something relaxing I go mess around with my house.

Right? It always confuses me when people say they play TES games and don't care about the stories being told. Like, after you take the lore away, what is left? Combat? Please, I love the TES single players but combat was never one of their strong features.

Some quests I do skip through the text quickly because of the horrendous voice acting or because I've done it 1001 times before. The one that sticks in my mind as far as terrible voice acting goes is that one where you have to collect the orbs in the mage guild quest line, and insert 4 each into a scorpion rune etc. I think it's the one where you're getting the fork etc. The big scary voice is like something you'd get in a B movie.

What the hell do you play this game for if skipping the dialogue? You just want to reach the objective? To what end? Why play MMOs than? Why ESO?.

I play ESO for PvP and group content, the multiplayer bits, but I have no issue with the quests other than I think I they lack repeatability at high CP. I did all the way through Cadwell's gold on my main and don't plan on it again.

Good grief, now that you say it I remember it. I did it so long ago I'd forgotten it. That is a nice one. I guess one of the problems with the sheer number of quests available in this game is that you can actually forget a lot. I've only taken one character through most of the game so far. I suppose once I've done some alts and repeated a lot of quests the good ones should start to stick in my memory better.
