Guild Bank Theft

Why are we not allowed to report a Guild Bank thief on these forums? Is there something wrong with reporting someone who means harm to the community?? Is there a different ESO forum that lists such offenders? We would greatly benefit from a list we could check before accepting new members.
I want to keep my bank open, but at times a particularly selfish individual makes it in and robs the entire guild membership, especially new players, as it is the low level ones who benefit from an open guild bank the most.
If ZOS refuses to help us in this area, can't WE do something to make our mostly great community better??

This shouldn't be an issue in an MMO in 2017.

Because people would post others names who are innocent. And we would have no way to tell who was innocent and who was guilty.

We got this also (we want to be open) but that's not possible.

So instead we make a new rank and 2k donation give ppl access to guild bank and promote them.

The only thing now limited or unlimited.

You'll never get ZOS to allow "naming and shaming" on their forums, it'd cause more trouble than it's worth. You're better off limiting access to a guild bank to trusted officers rather than opening it up to complete strangers who've only just joined the guild.

Yes, I would like to put the OP's name on this list.

I wouldn't really do that but if you anger the person they might. So know you know why naming and shaming isn't allowed on the forums. You're welcome.

ZOS really needs to add Tiered Access to Guild Banks. Although how those tiers should be set up is a discussion for another thread. But as long as we have an all or nothing type of access, then the access needs to be given only to trusted officers.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I was part of a guild, asked in guild chat if I could take a Crafting Motif Dunmer out of the bank. It was a Small Guide only 30 plays and 28 of them where online including the GM. The guy who put it in said sure I could. A few hours later the GM messaged me and removed me from the guild for stealing from a guild bank.

Stuff like this happens and what I should be then brandished across a public forum because the GM was an ass? I do not think so.

Now if the guy took 200+ Things then quit the guild sure but not in cases like mine.

Why ? Because 2017 has seen the creation of a filter for dishonest people ?

The solution is to never put anything valuable in a guild bank. There are plenty of very useful but worthless items in the game, people are happy to have them on hand whenever they need them instead of sacrificing their own storage space for it. That's how guild banks should be used.

    @Brunoad

The naming and shaming of anyone for any reason is generally not permitted in forums did any game. It opens up a Pandora's box of sorts if it were to be permitted.

Share the info with other GMs you know. Pls, the more open access to the bank is the greater the risk a guild is taking.

Technically they haven't stolen anything, you gave them access and anyone with access can do whatever they like with the contents of the guild bank.

If they decide they really need the entire contents of the guild bank and then decide they want to leave the guild they can, they're an arse but they can do it.

I once had my guild bank cleared out, value wise there wasn't much lost but after that I changed bank access so only people I know irl have access and everyone else then loses out because of it. What I wish is that there was an option so people could at least see what's in the guild bank so if there's something they want they can ask for it.

What I meant is that any MMO that's operational in 2017 should have Guild Banks with varying levels of permissions.

Regarding 'name and shame', I'm all for tar and feather. Someone should make a website that's dedicated to @Name and Shame.

Name and shaming would be awful. Do you know what people can do with a couple of minutes and photoshop? That would be so unreliable. I can just imagine the creative trolls marring the names of good, nice players. :#

What would be nice, would be a tick off where u can allow ppl to see whats in the bank, but not withdraw unless permission is given.. that way ppl could browse and then ask a permitted member for the item(s) they wanted.

Well, in my guild everyone had access after 2 weeks of membership (and some sort of "presence and participation"). When the items are useful but have no market value, there's no problem. Maybe we've just been lucky though.

Absolutely this. If you give them permission to take items out, and they take items out, that is not theft, and shame on you for trying to report this to an overworked customer service dept.

It would be nice to have levels of access instead of having the ability to take everything all at once or nothing. This happened in my guild last week, some sociopath took everything and left, not that we had anything truly valuable in the bank worth more than a couple thousand on its own, though likely they stole a quarter mill worth of stuff. We should have a rank that limits withdrawal to a few items a day as a go-between from the all or nothing setup we currently have in place. It's immensely great to have an open bank for honest people who want to share, a sociopath filter isn't necessary if we can have a limit for daily withdrawals, and perhaps alerts for officers when withdrawals are maxed out day after day from the same person.

Speaking as a GM, I would even be ecstatic if I could let all members SEE what was in the bank, even if they couldn't withdraw it.

Then people without direct access could ask officers to retrieve items for them.

Lol. So if you let me inside your house and I steal everything it isn't theft because you let me inside? That is not a very rational way to look at things.

I just posted a thread on a related topic, in my opening post, i made the following suggest of a system i'd love to see to manage bank access:-

Personally i'd like if we could set all items placed in the bank a gold value or weighting against similar items (and different levels) so that you can't take things out without building up enough "credit" with deposits of your own.

For example, i might set that you can freely swap stacks of wood for metal of the same level, but if you want to "trade your stack up" a level, you've to deposit the stack plus 500 gold worth of other items, while trading up two levels costs your stack and 1000 worth of deposits.

Or if you want 10 blue tempers, you've to deposit 40 green, 25-40 blue for 10 purple etc.

Exactly. If I give you access and you take everything without asking, it's theft. Now obviously in this game there is no recourse, but it's stealing nonetheless.

If someone gives me access to their house, they are doing so under the assumption I won't steal everything. If I do steal everything it's theft. Giving someone access to guild bank is the same.
