becoz tanks need to block. and before homestead, blocking requires stamina. dk is the only class that can consistently restore stamina for themselves while perma blocking.

The most important thing that a DK has is sustainability and CC. The Earthen Heart Passives gives you lots of stamina and magicka back while the Ardent Flame ability Unrelenting Grip and Draconic Power Ability Choking Talons is the best Crowd Control Skills in the game. They also have great Tanking passive such as Iron Skin giving 10% mitigation and Burning Heart giving 12% healing received if you have a Draconic Power Active, which you really just should have Hardened Armor on at all times. There is more to it than that but that's the basics.

Not in the same way, NB have Siphoning Strikes but both morph requires you to do a light or heavy attack. Sure you can animation cancel the light attack and do it really fast to avoid getting hit but you still have to stop blocking. And yes constitution does give you enough stamina return to permablock if your block cost is lower than 160 but even with a block cost of 88, which is the lowest, DK's get more stamina back in a safer way than NB, cause you need stamina to taunt and debuff as well not just block. The Battle Roar passive gives a crap ton back as well and the Igneous Shields, which is the spamable used for Helping Hand, gives 5 allies plus the Tank a pretty good damage shield, giving extra utility there. But yea Helping Hand+Battle Roar>Siphon Strikes.

Correction: siphoning strikes / siphoning attacks has a 10% chance to restore stamina and magicka on any ability use that hits an enemy.

That means a nightblade can permablock while spamming something instant like strife or sap essence, which will continually restore their resources.

    Not really. Allready said.
And really stamnia is not needed for taunt and debuf for NB.

That's not very accurate. There is a semblance of truth to the concept, but in such a general statement it's not true. DKs have a lot of inherent sustain, so that's the main take-away here. But please be careful not to over-generalize as it does not help other players to feed them misinformation.

I have seen some wicked sorc tanks, both mag and stam.

Stam sorc has a constant heal with surge and hurricane. They have Encase which is an aoe snare. They also have dark deal that converts magika into health and stam. I haven't tested how the blood magic passive works with encase for hp return, yet.

Sorc also has bolt escape for moving quickly and stunning enemies at the same time.

I also like the passive that gives ult killing undead, demons, or WW.

That is all you will hear in the Trial environment. That's what a lot of the build videos are about too, if you manage to find updated ones anyway.

If your content with just doing 4-man vetern dungeons including the Hard mode challenge, Then any class can manage to fill the tanking role. Long as you keep yourself alive, keep aggro on the priority targets, And have a friendly attitude I wouldn't care what sort of tank they were going for myself. A lot is possibe, but depending on the content, little is viable or optimal.

Personally I'm really looking forward to tanking as a warden. I tanked in my warcraft days as a death knight and as a druid, and this seems like a combo of the two.

Unfortunately, June is so far away... and my daughter is being born in june so less game time.
