That said, this game is permanently broken in some fashion or another, and getting worse as time goes on. Factoring in the PVP and PVE lag, the DCs, the freezes, the gliches, and the bugs everywhere you turn, can anyone think of a game more consistently broken and frustrating? I am not the biggest gamer, so I may not have the experience others have. But after more than a year and half of this, and now 3 days in a row of not being able to log in at night, the question comes to mind.

Thoughts? Any game more permanently broken than ESO? What is the breaking point for you?

If it was that we experienced these problems at "everywhere" we turned I think we could call it broken but, outside of PvP,, I do not see these issues cropping up often for me or players I group with.

As for the "breaking point' theme this ends on, really second thread this week.

the game on the forum is near death and obviously crap.

the game i actually play bears little to no resemblance to that.

    "Yup"

I think people are really getting fed up. I write this as I watch Blobsky (Blobs) not be able to log in to his main character for 30 minutes on PC EU. So, yeah, console may have it worse, but PC isn't immune. Constant lag and DCs. Every new patch brings a plethora of new problems that take weeks and months to fix. Many are saying the the NO CP week isn't helping Cyrodiil.

Meanwhile... None of this ever comes up in my guild chat or among friends.... Guess u just have *** luck!?

You guys must have more patience. Kudos.

:) I wish there were a more constructive response for the problems u guys seem to have.. We are on PC EU, load screens are normal, i get 40-70fps constantly (depends where i am, no lag (Except the odd stutter in high density PVP) group finder does its job..? Is it a console thing? Or maybe your Internet connection, outdated PC hardware... I dunno, I'd like to see the game thrive so maybe post some info so a general consensus can be formed... Good luck to you though.

Not sure. I am Xbox NA, so no choice of hardware. I get 30MB/s download speeds consistently and 10-12 ms ping in a major metropolitan area. I'm guessing it is at least in part due to being on console, but there are fair number of complaints I see from PC streamers. I would love to see it thrive and have less serious problems.

I think a large portion of "How Broken is ESO?" has to do with "How optimized is your PC?".

    My old PC specs:
    i3 2130 dual core CPU @ 3.4Ghz
    Nvidia 960 GTX 2GB GPU
6GB RAM (I assume DDR3 because this was a store-bought PC with an added PSU/GPU)
    7200 RPM 1TB HDD
*This old Lenovo Desktop PC, with an added PSU and GPU, ran ESO at a steady 60 FPS with very few frame drops, on mostly ultra, some high settings, grass was turned off, and the "extras" were turned off. This PC was optimized for gaming by turning off anything non essential that runs in the background, etc. Loading times on this PC were better than my Xbox One S load times, but not by much. (This means ~60 second load times to peak hours Wayrest) The load times were overall horrendous, bad enough to make progressing through the game feel sluggish.

    My new PC specs:
    i7 7700K quad core CPU @ 4.2Ghz
    Nvidia 1080 GTX 8GB GPU
    16GB of DDR4 3400 RAM
    500GB SSD
*This is a custom built gaming PC, it runs ESO at a steady 60 FPS (goes much higher, but no real reason to run the game at the internal cap of 100 FPS), ALL settings are on ultra, and all the extra settings are turned on. Grass is turned off, personal taste thing. This PC was also optimized for gaming. Load screens within the same zone are never longer than 5 seconds, and often instant with no load screen at all. Loading from Zone A to Zone B is also very quick, not more than 15 second load screens.

My internet speed is 100 Mb/s download, and 10 Mb/s upload.

I highly suggest everyone optimize their PC for gaming by following a guide if you don't know how. Good luck!

Disclaimer- This does not include Cyrodiil performance for 2 reasons. 1- My sample size in Cyrodiil on PC is too small, I've spent ~1 hour total there, between 2 different logins. 2- I don't really care for Cyrodiil, I don't really care for castle siege gameplay. Battlegrounds however, count me in.

So, let me first say I think that fundamentally, ESO is a great game...as noted by the amount of hours I have played it, and by the fact I have not switched games recently. The devs have also picked up their game in terms of content with housing and Morrowind. PVP and PVE updates for all, plus new class. In addition, they seem to be listening more to their audience than ever, as evidenced by the players Zenimax brought to their studio for early Morrowind testing.

That said, this game is permanently broken in some fashion or another, and getting worse as time goes on. Factoring in the PVP and PVE lag, the DCs, the freezes, the gliches, and the bugs everywhere you turn, can anyone think of a game more consistently broken and frustrating? Not had any log in problems ! Game has some issues but overall its a great game. Issues are minor enough that they haven't ruined my gaming on ESO. But figure some take a small issue and blow it up.
    Best game around

World of warcraft. I used to play it from vanilla to the end of BC. Not even sure what game is more broken to be honest.

Although, I dislike ESO's meta because of that, since the best builds have bugs in their core. And it's been this way since beta.

Broken would imply a complete inability to play the game, yes? In which case not broken at all.

Problems? Certainly. But if it were broken I wouldn't have been able to play so many hours.

Ahhh, a creature of semantics. :) Broken in gaming lingo has come to imply a game that is very difficult to play, not just unplayable. But, yes, many times it is literally unplayable, which is why I brought up the question.

No it hasnt. Youre making up "facts" to suit your argument.

The game isn't dying, so there's nothing killing it. The reason the majority of people believe it's not broken is because they don't have any serious issues with it. Yes, there's a number of people here reporting issues but compare that to the number you see ingame.

What we do know is that at one extreme people playing on decent rigs with no exposure to PvP or competitive PvE tend not to have any problems, while at the other extreme people playing from the other side of the world to the server with a laptop which has 4GB memory and built-in graphics and who only play the one over-populated campaign where they join a mass zerg, can expect to have problems.

The problem is the people in between these extremes, who report "fix your servers", "the game is broken", etc but who often don't give any information about what platform they're on, where they are in relation to the server, what their specs are, whether they're sharing a wireless connection with others who are watching Netflix, whether their mouse and keyboard are also wireless, whether they're using the latest untested beta drivers rather than older proven ones, etc. Heaven forbid that they should report any of this sort of stuff on their appropriate technical forum where both experienced players and technical staff would get to see it and offer help with fixes or at least possible workarounds. Far better just to give a blanket "it's the servers so let's all cancel our subs" complaint on a general discussion board.

If anyone finds that a game is "literally unplayable" at a time when they know very many other people are able to play it perfectly satisfactorily, then that at least should tell them something!

MMO wise i've played a lot in the last 20 or so years.. And honestly ESO has the worst servers i've dealt with, sure games have issues but the fact Zos doesn't really even lift a finger to fix these issues is really poor..

And its sad because ESO is one of the most expensive mmo's i've ever played as well.

its that much broken, that most of the endgame players and recognized PvPers left the game years ago... and with every patch more are leaving because its not getting better from here on.

Game isn't broken, it lacks common sense features, is written, and produced by partisan activist, and has become more about the cash shop than entertaining players.

on PC EU, i've experienced a lack of stability with game crashing a lot and freezing just after Summerset release, but that is mostly gone.
2 technical issues that are still irritating is the random almost endless loading screen , and the broken group finder at rush hour; but overhall game is fairly stable these days.

But even Sims 3 wasn't as bad as the Gothic games, which were the buggiest games I've ever played in my life, although they were great games if you ignored the bugs. Gothic 1 was the buggiest.

The game has a really bad Steam port. Though somefixed (the connectivity issues),we've experienced the damage already. Also for some reason my game decided to randomly uninstall from Steam despite still having the folders. Apparently this is a common issue with ESO in Steam, so i had to reinstall 80 gigs AGAIN.

Pretty much the same here. Was pleased when they fixed the issue kicking us after Summerset launch.

I have not had endless load screens in awhile though.

Would be nice if GF did not keep popping and resetting for no reason. Since it does this with a full group it is clear it is a system error, not someone declining.

On the PC i had only one real bug with a quested door in a tomb. I had do delete and redo the quest. They fixed the door one or two patches later. Otherwise i have days with a lot of disconnects. Since it is not always i tend to think it has nothing to do with the server software. I can log in whenever i want. Had only one queue back in the days before One Tamriel.
