Would you make all the other players invisible?

I play a lot solo. I don't know how hard it would be but I would like a setting to make all of the characters invisible. I know it wouldn't be done in PvP but in Story Mission that could be really immersive.
What do you think?

No. That would take away the most of the MMO from MMORPG

Why do you care if someone doesn't want to see other players? It does not affect you in any way.

In some mmorpgs there are some filters that filters how MANY people you can see. I'd LOVE this.
In mass pvp, this means you'd see a lot of floating names and hp bar so you could target them. you could see where they were. and you'd minimize FPS issues a lot.

I just find it pretty annoying whenever I'm doing a mission and I'm so immersed in the serious mission where everything's going on and the King saying that I am the only person that could save them and I'm the only one that it's doing this and then there's a person but it's already done it and they're over there dancing

Don't play a mmo if you don't want to see other people. Go play Skyrim or es3 morrowind.

Well you're not going to get this big of a world and so many story missions without it being an MMO. So if there was a game that wasn't an MMO that had this big of a world with this many missions I would definitely play it

I did not mean that I dont want it in the game, I couldn't care less weither they add it or not. All I am saying is that I would never use it.

Good because then it would be an RPG and many would prefer that.

I guess that would be cool... then I could feel like I accomplished something because it would look like I solo'd a world boss...

I wouldn't mind if the option existed, but I would never use it.

Randomly encountering other people and helping each other, hindering each other (as long as it's not too severe) and seeing all the weird things people get up to is half the fun of an MMO.

Also it'd be really confusing when enemies die for no reason, gathering nodes and chests just disappear or you're healed randomly. And there would be no way of knowing if you were about to take on a world boss solo or if someone was around to help.

I tried found a home Final Fantasy 14. You have to play with other characters in order to get through that story dungeons intern order to get through that you have to build your character perfectly for your class or other players get pissed off and kick you.

I play primarily solo also, but for the most part like playing in a more active world and at times really appreciate a bit of help with a world boss or other challenge designed for multiple players. There are quest situations, though, where seeing others is extremely disconcerting. I don't mind so much with simple errands, but I'd really prefer it if quests like exploring Count Verandis's memories were instanced or other players were just invisible.

I've never played Final Fantasy 14 but people say the same in ESO - according to some people, including what sometimes seems like the majority of this forum, you shouldn't even consider doing dungeons, even in normal mode, unless you're CP160 (or even better CP500+ with CP160 gear) and you've got the current flavour of the month build.

But there's plenty of people who don't adhere to that. My guild insisted I'd be fine joining them for a dungeon at level 14, and that was before One Tamriel. I've done them periodically since with guild members or other low level players recruited in chat and you certainly don't need a 'perfect' build and there are plenty of people out there who don't care what you use. You just can't count on the Group Finder to find them because it just throws everyone together randomly.

Thanks everybody. I didn't realize how decisive this would be. Oh sorry I didn't realize how passionate people would be to play it strictly as an MMO.

Will Final Fantasy 14 really plays like just about every MMO with a monthly fee. ESO plays more like a single player Elder Scrolls then a your typical in MMO.

It is an MMO. If you really want to be the only one then I suggest a single player game.

What would be even less immersive is a bunch of mobs fighting thin air, or people being assassinated out of nowhere. Also you wont know if someones about to harvest or open a chest, so you might spot something and it disappears just before you reach it. So really it wouldn't work unfortunately.

Maybe in the config settings you can reduce actor fade to almost nothing, so you only see NPCs and other players when you are right next to them.

I wouldn't, it would be really annoying to go to harvest a node, only to see it disappear randomly because another player I couldn't see was using it. There might actually be a modd to make the change you're wanting, but it would be against the TOS.

The tech seems to already be in place. When in a dialogue UI window with an NPC, players in the background become invisible, while monsters they may be fighting remain visible.

If the other players was invisible they would still kill enemies and pick nodes. Especially the fighting would be totally confusing, enemies dying or running away then coming back.
This can be weird enough in dvelves where enemies re-spawns around you as a guy ahead killed them

Much of the fun even in PvE is the other players even if it can be crowded.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
