Of course Santie, you will have a standing VIK (Very Important Khajit) ticket!
On another note, do any of you know, whether the total amount of characters allowed in a house, also includes yourself? for example, if a house can hold 12 people, is it 11+me or 12+me?

You always have a free spot for yourself - so number is purely for visitors eg 12+yourself
Khajiit wonders why Santie Claws is in front row ... this one will watch from the side where can see who has dropped something and keep the theater clean. Looks forward to seeing this tavern Santie Claws is opening and see if she hired any bards or has them banned.

But overall? It's basically a little playground you can decorate to your taste, and whatever you get out of it is whatever you put into it, creatively speaking. Some people create mini-games like mazes and jumping puzzles, while other people roleplay taverns, inns, and, yes, brothels. Meanwhile, other people are decorating their houses to certain themes, like Dark Brotherhood sanctuaries, witch's caves, and hunter's cabins. You get out of it what you want out of it. I've likened it to Minecraft before, because it's pretty much the same sort of mindset: you have your own little world and some tools to build it up to your taste... it's more limited than Minecraft, but that's made up by the richer lore and the rest of the game surrounding it.
Personally, I love having one house for each of my characters, and enjoy the challenge of finding the perfect decorations for each of their houses to reflect their stories and personalities. It's immensely satisfying to place items in a way that suggests there are stories attached to them... to know that the pile of fish in the kitchen, the wine bottle thrown on the workshop floor, and the dagger just peeking out from under the pillow all say something subtle but important about the character who lives there. That's what housing does for me.
If that's not your thing? No worries. Get the free inn rooms (and I also recommend the cheap apartments) for the free teleports. Then, sell any recipes you find on the guild traders and never worry about it again. There's nothing wrong with deciding it's not for you. You play how you most enjoy. The important thing is that you're having fun playing the game.
Ok, I get that we can craft and have dps dummies, stations for sets. But what the heck are we gonna do in housing once the novelty wears off? My PvP guildies don't see themselves hanging out in a house doing nothing or even dueling.
