Questing is not rewarding enough

Questing was pretty good pre-One Tamriel. I levelled my first character by stealthing through quests, only killing stuff that was neccessary for quest completion. I was doing quests that were around 5 levels higher than me, and they paid out QUITE well xp wise. They go fairly quickly if you don't bother killing all the trash in your way.

I've always quested to gain exp and thought the EXP rate was fair. I keep hearing grinding and dungeons are much quicker though. Now I feel like I've been missing out. I could give a *** about the storyline honestly, and I skip all dialogue. I guess I should be grinding from here on out.

I understand One Tamriel made all the overland zones easy mode. The old layout of being a level 18 but going to the 25ish level zone was much more enjoyable. The only real fun in overland zones is solo'ing dolmens and world bosses.

If you don't want "easy" mode, undistributed your CP and then try to fight a world boss. There are posts on this forum quite regularly from new players complaining about how hard some of the content is.

As sm.eone who almost only does quests and has never grinded XP, i think its fine as it is. Especially after 1Tamriel.

I am CP 400, and have only done 3 dungeons (1 vet), Maelstrom Arena (Normal, once), and a small amount of PvP. A few more than each dolmens once, but not a lot.

Still 40 quests off getting ADHero, and about 15 off Cyrodiil hero.

Not to mention Imperial City quests to still do (I've done all the orsinium/TG/DB quests).

    So... I think it's fine...

I quest to have some story and something interesting to do. If the game was just all grinding and killing mobs I would not play it.

That's a dumb solution, there should be areas that are still a challenge solo without having to drop CP. I am not saying it should all be harder but there are literally no challenging overland zones that offer quests to do. Running group dungeons solo is a grind and not as fun as doing actual content.

The xp from quests should be increased by 100%, it would make it far more viable. Lets face it, for 80% of people lvling is just killing mobs.

Neither of us knows the true percentage, but my guess - which is doubtless as good as yours - is that for 80% of people leveling is about more than just killing mobs, it's also about the story behind the quests, and the lore behind the game etc.

I can understand your approach to it, given the reasonable assumption from your post that xp is your only sense of reward. However, for me - and I suspect many others - the reward is about a whole lot more than just the xp, just as playing the game is about a whole lot more than just leveling.

If I didn't enjoy the concept of quests and only saw them as a means to an end, namely a way to reach the supposed "endgame" (which no-one has managed to explain to me yet, in any MMORPG), with absolutely no other benefit gained from leveling, then I'd be playing an action game or FPS instead of a MMORPG. For me, it's about the journey rather than the destination, and questing is at the heart of the journey or else it is a pretty pointless one.

If players learned to play the game instead of rushing to end game content, they would get more enjoyable playtime.
My first char did all the quests, then caldewell's silver and gold. Sometimes when I'm bored I go back and do the quest on my alts.
I don't think I would still be interested in playing the game if I only played 1 build. It gets rather boring doing the same thing day in and out.

The problem is at a certain point, questing turns mindless because the mobs are too low level. End game content offers a challenge and is more fun. I enjoyed questing though Gold on my main, but I could go a few zones ahead for a challenge and I wasn't CP160, once you get CP, even your alts plow through the quests with little resistance.

You do realize since OT that mobs no longer have a 'level', right? Further, not everyone likes a 'challenge' which is why they have END GAME content, for those who do. The majority of players simply want to RP quests or just enjoy questing and don't want to stress out and worry about dying, they want to relax and play the game; if YOU want challenge in open world, wear lower level gear or simply reduce or remove your CP. At least that way you're not forcing players who don't want a challenge into challenging situation, but you have the option to give yourself more challenge by adjusting your gear and CP.

I understand One Tamriel made all the overland zones easy mode. The old layout of being a level 18 but going to the 25ish level zone was much more enjoyable. The only real fun in overland zones is solo'ing dolmens and world bosses.

Inventory management is already ridiculous with all the BoP items so obtaining sets (I can't even get lower level drops because I'm over CP 160) is a laughable proposal to try and make questing enjoyable.

If all someone cares about is the story, questing works. If you want to feel like you are actually overcoming an obstacle, it's pretty lack luster due to how easy it is. Questing is the equivalent of playing a sports game like Madden on Rookie, you won't fail.

While you may have found going to higher zones fun in order to generate difficulty, it also meant that you could NEVER return to lower levels and attain any XP. Leveling basically made zones obsolete, whereas One Tamriel made all the zones valuable for the entirety of the game, which means they can also add new quests, etc. in existing zones over time because these zones now always give full XP.

Further, you talk about BoP gear but WHY can't you craft your own gear? You can certainly craft lower level gear. It sounds like you're one of those players who wants the game to cater to your playstyle, while not offering those who do not want to play that way any options. It's easier for a player to downgrade their gear and remove CP if they want more difficulty than it is for players who do not want difficulty, to make themselves OP for content.

So I solo' through Cadwell's gold and did all the quests and now the reward is to craft myself lower level gear and get rid of my CP so I can continue to have fun content? That's an interesting take there buddy.

Asking for content that scales in difficulty for players new and experienced doesn't seem like asking for them to "cater to my playstyle" lol

He didn't say it was your reward for what you had achieved, he said it was an option for you if you wanted greater challenge. You aren't stuck with battle-scaled content, you can adjust the difficulty level for yourself if you choose to do so.

Before One Tamriel, if you'd already done Cadwell's silver and gold, as well as all the DLCs, then there wasn't any further content for you beyond repetition of PvE and PvP content, unless ZOS added whole new zones. What @ADarklore was also pointing out was that One Tamriel also allows them to add new beneficial content to existing zones.

Personally, I love One Tamriel for that alone, but also for the fact that I can undertake any of the various DLC content at any stage in my characters' development and gain from it rather than having to leave all the DLC content until they reach level 50 otherwise they would be ridiculously over-leveled when returning to the base content. Moreover, every time they return to lower level zones they benefit from both worthwhile adventuring xp and harvesting mats. One Tamriel is a win/win system, but only for some players if they truly embrace the options it presents rather than simply sticking with the default scenario.

Some would argue One Tamriel made all overland content low level zones.
