Can someone talk me out of doing what I'm about to do?

Don't do it for the following reasons:
    10. Don't do it because by doing so all you will accomplish is to teach this company that they can put out a substandard product and charge you an outrageous price for it and you'll cave and let them get away with it. Wait for them to improve the value of this product or put out better houses in the future.

    This.

well-i have a possibly irresponsible view on this stuff. How much real life money do we spend on non practical disposable stuff? coffees. going to a movie. buying dvd's. going out to eat. etc. so if i really want something-i just eliminate something else that is non practical to compensate. so that makes it more reasonably weighed. does playing with the house add up to more enjoyment than something else you do that is non practical? then it's a win. (don't cut out date night with your significant other to do it though. eesh! lol)

I don't understand the desire for completely non functional housing, especially pay HUGE prices for it. I am glad they make a lot of money to put back into the game though.

i don't understand why anyone likes pvp. i play to relax and have fun. doing something that is certain to make me angry doesn't seem like fun. point being-to each his own :D

I'm happy with just Autumn's gate. It's warm and homely and has more space than i will probably ever need really.

Right? It's spacious for a small house, and it even has a nice garden. And to top it off, it only costs 60k gold and looks like a normal house (no offense, Humblemud). I'm in the process of building a balcony on the roof, and a second floor inside. The view of the Rift is very nice from the roof. The garden is already filled with flowers, trees and jungle plants.

To the OP: don't buy it! Earthtear Cavern and Grand Topal Hideaway are coming! Buy one of those, they're much better than the manors. According to eso live, the cave will be released in March, the island "sometime later". There will also be 6 homes in Vvardenfell. You could wait a few weeks for much better houses than the Overlook imo.

i can't wait to get the island. Houses still aren't on console yet, but I'm getting the island the day it becomes available. Unless playing with the free or cheap ones proves to be a really bad experience.

Completely agree. If someone plays $100+ for a house they are going to design inside and get enjoyment out of it that's great, more power to them. I'm just saying that isn't me, not a fan of designing anything inside and that's the only real value you in it. There simply just isn't any functionality beyond that which dictates the massive price tag.

Wrong. It's $105.00 if you purchase crowns from the store to buy it furnished. Even if you buy it unfurnished you still have to buy that much in crowns to cover the entire cost, you'll just have more "change" left over. Regardless of how you get crowns, the accurate guideline as to how much things "really" cost is to use the regular Store prices for crowns.

I'm farming gold and leveling alts while I wait for Morrowind. I'm going to guess that the houses that come with the x-pac are going to be pretty nice too :)

It is beautiful.... Hundings Palatial has lovely lovely views. Especially now I built stairs to the roof. My banker lives there and my bank alts all live next to him....
I even finally levelled the last craft on my crafter, she is now Jack of all Trades so she has all the motifs and blueprints.... who knew I would need provisioning to make candles?
I say all motifs..... well she has all that I found and didn't sell.
So between this and pvp I have found plenty to occupy me till Morrowind. Which is great because I hit a big 'now what do I do' place a while ago.
I have to go back and do those vet dungeons tho.... need those busts.

Could you maybe post a screenshot of your stairs to the roof, please? I am still trying to find an elegant to do it... Thanks!

I have seen a few methods for making stairs. The obvious is to just buy the stone blocks from the home furnisher. The problem is that you cant run up them, you have to hop. I have a buddy that used the huge boulders to make a cave and sort of ramp in the hundings house. Its pretty neat. The nice thing is you can run up them. Another solid move is to just use the planks, but the dont look as nice.

Let's just hope they, too, are not just boring copies of already existing buildings.

I really do not understand the fascination with this house, I don't get it, honestly... Is it simply a trophy thing, to say you have it? Is it for the title? It makes no sense to me at all, I mean... Look at Strident Springs! Hundings! Mistveil! Forsaken Stronghold! These houses are great, some of them beautiful, and they have so much to them! They feel more unique and warm and look like houses rather than banks

If I could have 10 houses in this game for free, this one would not be one of them, in fact, after spending allot of time in all 3 manors, decorating them for people, I honestly believe that the EP one is the best by far, and I never thought I would say that during pts, but then I never really went there for longer than about 30 minutes at that time. Ebonheart Chateau has allot more to it that the other two manors (still not as cool as some of the larger homes imo though) but it is much more worth its price-tag imo

If you purchase any fully furnished home with crowns.....it's not going to be a very fulfilling experience. However, if you purchase a home via in game gold, craft your own furniture, purchase achievement items via the vendors....then you are now immersed in the game.
That's how I feel. To me, furnishing the house slowly piece-by-piece is part of the fun. Not everyone would think it was fun, but I like it. It makes me feel my character scrimped and saved to finally buy herself a house, but can only afford to furnish it bit by bit, one piece at a time. I should have been taking pictures of the progression of my house as I've been slowly adding pieces of furniture to it over the past week.

    I have a free house.

It has enough furniture, but sadly I cannot move it around. But who cares
It has free loot every now and then which I can only sell to a fence. Sometimes rare recipes too
If I go outside I have enough freedom and space in my backyard
I can store my stuff and money at an NPC

Have you ever heard the saying "neither a house buyer nor a renter be"? RUBBISH! If we didn't have buyers or renters how would we ever be able to make any money from the crownstore? Well,... welcome to the free house of Knootewoot.'

You cave it because you want to cave in. Quit having it on your mind and then you'll stop thinking of buying it. As long as you have it in your mind its good as if you have already bought the manor.
