Warden and sorc pets - how to fix them

So we are getting a new class that has a pet focus. I am not sure why they are doing so when pets have been broken since this game came out. We all know the ai/pathing is terrible and will always be terrible.

What we need is more pet control. First and foremost we need a leash mechanic. Pets should not go more than bit more than about 36 meters away from you. If they reach that range they should disengange and come back.

Bigger icons - Half the time I have no idea where my pets even are. I can't see them anywhere. I don't know if they are attacking someone or stuck on a rock. Another reason we need a leash.

Pet recall - this needs to be a instant teleport back to you.

Increased movement speed. They can't keep up with players.

Deadric prey focus/teleport - this skill should teleport the pets to the target and focus it.

And in trials pets should only die when you die, on much of the trial bosses the pet can not be used properly because it dies instantly.

Agreed. There are a lot of UI improvements that need to be made (quite frankly, some should have been there since launch *coughbuffanddebufftimercough* )

My sorcerer's pets are constantly getting stuck in walls, or being drawn to some undesired target. The easy solution would be to add a separate pet action bar with the standard skills that other games have (attack/retreat/pet skills/recall). But I suspect ZoS wants to maintain their current design regarding action bars.

Hopefully with the recent buff to them, ZOS will get loads more data to help them fix this.

Funny thing is, that Sorc pets don't even have that range.

Conjured ward only has a 20 meter range, same as the twilights base attack and this does not get increased in pvp and the volatile familiar pulse only has a small activation range as well.
So you must really keep your pets and the target close to you. If the target runs away.....

However the Warden only summons temporary creatures to execute attacks. So they will not suffer the same issues.
We'll see how the bear performs. If he gets stuck like Sorc pets and you have no chance to unsummon and summon him back quick like Sorc pets because he is an ult then gg.

The warden bear ultimate isn't a temporary pet, but all the others are.

Honestly they should just add a pet commands section to the emote interface for consoles.

    yes.

They could also give them some very basic AI improvements that would help a lot.

    Attack cursed target.

    Don't stand in bad.

That reset they do when they're stuck in a wall and not attacking something for a whole fight, the reset they do when the fight is over and they show up at your heel like a lost puppy? Make that happen when you cast curse and they can't path to target.

The annoying thing about the problems with pets is they're such stupid, unnecessary problems.

All you have to do is tell the pet to come back and it does, instantly if it's far away. Don't ask for limits on stuff that doesn't need it.

Man, I just started playing with pets on my sorc as the DPS they can do is very real. I dont know what the solution is, but i sure wish they wouldnt agro everything. One thing that might be nice is that when your pet is active, you would have to use the skill button the first time to engage them. Your pet should NEVER be your first attack in a fight.

The pathing is so bad that rarely happens. Go play PVP , send them after someone and then hit recall. You will be waiting 10-15 seconds.

At any rate it looks like the warden is getting streamlined pet controls. Hopefully those are coming to the sorc as well.

I'd really, really like it if Daedric Prey marked the target and made the pets target that person exclusively, Storm Atro included. They're always so ADHD and attack the boss mobs and ***. Instantly teleport might be broken af but that could be cool too. For now, the pets should be urged to attack whoever is cursed.

I use the twilight in pvp...the pet is sometimes there but doesn't appear on the screen right away, that is the only problem I get. The familiar is too slow for pvp unless you focus on CC. (imo)

I don't know how much more streamlined it can get other than attack target and stop attacking. I wouldn't mind a pet stay option.

Maybe they'll come out with a pet control bar/window

I would love it if pets had some kind of gap closer to help them keep up with players and not get left behind so often. Like a sprint or teleport with an internal cooldown, used automatically when out of range.

Whats urgently needed is a way to target pets on console. Its so random that this doesn't exist.

Right thumb click to highlight could do it! Or even if Daedric Prey made them focus - would give the skill meaning.

its maddening that they buff pets yet you cant control them

Deadric Prey focus and movement/run speed are really the main issues. The damage is finally good it is just hard to apply to anyone.

If I would have to pick one it would be an automatic focus with Daedric Prey.
