Why am I being forced to PvP?

Hamfast

First off, this is not an anti-pvp rant, I have nothing against PvP, it's just not for me... because I do not like pvp I avoid it, I have played this game since beta and have spent as little time in Cyrodiil as I can... I do enjoy the crafting, I can spend days just farming mats no big deal...it takes all kinds of folks to make the community...

I am a master Crafter, I do the writ quests and get the Master Crafter Writs, and get sent to the Imperial City... I feel like I am being forced to PvP... and yes, I know I can abandon the thing but what's the point of being a master crafter, getting the master writ quest if I'm just going to abandon it.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Temporarily forced to pvp, use your writ vouchers to get stations attuned to those and bring them home. xD

I know it's not ideal, but it can be seen as something fun. Get a friend that you know who likes to PVP to escort you to the station safely, and pay them for their services.

"forced to pvp" cause he have to port to IC and walk 5 steps into a 90% empty Zone to get into the crafting station

Ahhh, so now we see the deviousness of the Homestead DLC - "Master Crafters" can now no longer run around naked or with just a costume if they want to get all their writs done, lol.

You don't have to accept the writ. Close it so you can see what it is, and if it's to craft an IC set, sell the writ.

You are not being forced to PvP, you are being nudged towards buying the DLC's. I've gotten 5 gold writs so far, 4 of them required DLC access.

We can port directly into Imperial City? I did not know that.

Id have to agree with the guy above. More like forced to purchase dlc for sure. You dont actually have to pvp. You can just run there and go in. Noone really ganks at sewer entrances anymore and if you run into someone there just go sneak and go in.

@Hamfast Best advice...sell the writ and move along.

I've been here since the start and there are still some writs that I can't complete...and I try my best to experience ALL that ESO has to offer.

Don't let it get you down. "Maybe" part of the "balance" of this patch, was to give all of the different play styles a chance to have their shot at getting a writ done. :/

Unless it changed with the housing update you cannot port directly to IC.

Edit:- Also you can no longer "port to a guildie/friend" to leave IC.

The PvP players that are upset in this thread just sound really salty.
What's wrong with someone not wanting to go to a PvP zone?
There is a very small chance that he can get trolled trying to do this Master Writ. If someone knew they were trying to use the craft station and just wanted to be really annoying, they could literally stay inside the crafting station room and gank them every time they attempted to use the crafting station.

I don't know if you know, but those stations aren't safe zones.

The crafting room is a "safe zone" no combat can take place there. Not sure what your playing but in mine it is. Now getting there isnt inside a safe zone but once inside the room your good. Atleast on Xbox.

Interesting, every time I've been there on PC NA I've found that it isn't a safe zone. The rooms where you hand in the trophies are safe zones, but the crafting station rooms are not. You can definitely kill and be killed in them.

Edit: I do not have the blue glow on myself that prevents me from using skills while in the crafting rooms.

I completely agree. I haven't experienced the crafting writs yet, as my crafters are still babies, but I definitely agree with you on PvE content not being gated behind PvP.

I don't at all hate PvP. I even find PvP in this game pretty fun. I think this is the most I've ever PvP'd in a MMO since I started playing way back with FFXI (I know FFXI didn't have REAL PvP, I'm just trying to make myself feel better about my age ,_,).

However, I absolutely hate the idea that I non-PvP content is gated behind PvP, mainly Caltrops and Vigor. I think the PvP skill lines are really neat, and honestly for the rest of them, I think they're very fair and PvP oriented. Still, PvE skills that are necessary for the main stamina builds should NOT require PvP. I've never seen this in any MMO before nor since (I do play a lot of mainstream MMO's so I'm not saying that this occurrence doesn't exist, but certainly not with the MMO's that ESO is competing with for my money).

I really appreciate they buffed the AP rewards so it definitely lessens my time grinding in there so I can get back to the parts of the game I love, but these moves really shouldn't be in those lines - put them in Fighters guild or Undaunted.

I have gone to the crafting stations in IC many times without one drop of PvP. It of course is easier when you make your master crafter a magicka based night blade.

Either way... you don't have to go there to craft the set. Get in a guild that prioritizes getting all the DLC craft stations attuned for the guild home. I would assume IC would be the first focus of many just because of the perceived difficulty to get to the stations.

Or it was also mentioned that you could sell the master writ, or even straight up trade writ for writ with a friend or guild mate who doesn't mind going.

    Seriously? You are that afraid?
How about those quests in Cyro. ZOS should really give us PvE only version of that map just so we can smell flowers and catch butterflies in our pretty costumes and dresses.

To be serious tho, why stamina builds have to PvP to even enter endgame PvE content? I am talking about the Vigor. vMA, trials even the 4man dungeons pretty much forces stam dd's to have selfheal. Why after all this time we were not given a good HoT(like vigor is) to, for example, fighters guild skill line. With current meta(dual wield and bow) it closes option of rally, which is long weak HoT compared to vigor.

As someone who does not care for pvp, my advice to the OP is to man up.

You can get writs for dlc you dont own.
You can get writs for craglorn even if you dont group.
You can get writs for motifs for motifs like order or the shadows of hist ones even if you dont group to take on that content.
You can get writs for motifs from crowns even if spending crowns is npt your thing.

In all cases, including your pvp zone one, you have three choices:
    Sell the writ
Maybe get cooperation to do the writ thru attuned ststions or whatever.
Find a way to do it yourself.

The new master writs WILL challenge everyone once in a while one wsy or the other and each will have to decide how to mert thst challenge and selling is just fine.

I totally get the trepidation, but in truth your odds of getting ganked or running into a group are super low, and once you're in the crafting room you're immune so there's nothing anyone can do to harm you while you finish the writ. Then you can just blood port on some trash mobs back to your home base, since you're obvi not going to be farming Tel Var stones there. And if you're AD NA PC, my guild can always escort you for a nominal fee! :D

Personally I've done all these writs except the one in imperial city, I just sold that. I have fairly extreme social anxiety as a result of being stupid enough to end up doing customer service for ten years, my brain reacts to any perception of confrontational encounters with other people in the same way that it would if that person was litteraly going to kill me. This is not a bit of a mood or something I caln shrug off, it's the overwhelming power of the primitively brain going haywire in its desperate need to keep me safe. For me those writs that require the imperial city may as well be on mars.

    RIGHT?

So it's not about PvP so much really ... first you have to join the PvP server, ride your horse halfway across Cyrodil, then into the Sewer Base, then up the ladder, then down the road to the crafting station. Then find a sewer grate close to your sewer base, then into the sewer base, ride halfway across Cyrodil again, then port bck to Craglorn.

That's like 15 minutes of BS for me if my alliance owns the map. If one of the areas are enemy controlled it could be double or triple that time.

    Just for a crafting writ?

There are even sets that have much worse requirements like doing the fighters guild or Mages guild questline. Now those are really bad, because they force me to do hours of completely useless and stupid PVE just to do one master writ. Mind blown!
