Huge FPS drops after some time/memory leak

Before Morrowind patch I had 70-100 FPS like the OP and now it drops to 20-30 FPS in some areas.

WOW THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE . . .

I have a GTX 1080 and NVidia G-Sync monitor and a very very good rig

    So yeah what gives.

ZOS there is definitely a memory leak or something on your end screwing up FPS rates.

Also, I have NO IDEA, what a memory leak is can anyone summarize?

memory which is no longer needed is not released.

I have been getting the problem with the client crashing when rezing in PVP to a keep. Today all I was doing was entering the game after selecting a character and it crashed. I am using the 32 bit client. This just started after the Morrowind update.

I have two different clients on my computer one is the regular client and the other is Steam client. They both have the issue of crashing since the Morrowind update.

I have window 7 on my computer.

You should make a new thread, this thread isn't anything about what your problem is.

@Betheny Did changing the sample rate for your sound device fix the issue for you?

Last night it played fine though I didn't play for all that long, giving it a few more runs before I post my results.

Yeah. So I just gave up on ESO because of this problem. It is quite sad since I do actually enjoy the game and dont mind subbing to help both ZOS and the game grow. However, the frame rate drop over time issue is just friggin ridiculuous. Beyond words really.

I have disabled all of my addons. Hell, I have even DELETED ALL of my addons, the folder, minion, everything. I just let the game create the default folder again. I tried running repair (just to be sure). I have deactivated my overclock profiles for gpu, cpu and memory. I have "the latest nvidia drivers" done as a clean install. I reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers using the clean install option. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve the problem. Yet, it persists.

Having to logout and back in every hour is just unacceptable. To start your gaming session pushing a solid 98-99 fps in ALL areas (including crowded towns) and then slowly lose fps as the game session progresses until you end up with a crappy 28-30fps about an hour later - and (of course) at those fps levels you get the annoying stuttering and heavy mouse effect. Only to log out and back in to "refresh" the frame rate back to 98-99 fps again is, well... idiotic. And then to have to rinse and repeat this process just to be able to play... and i havent even tried going into a trial or pvp yet. I cant even imagine.

Strange part is that the fps levels degrade even faster the longer i am in a crowded area. Out in the wilds adventuring it goes down slowly over the course of an hour. If i am in town looking at guild stuff, picking up quests, crafting, whatever it goes down over the course of half an hour to 28-30fps. (edit: and by going down I mean that the fps PERMANENTLY stays at those levels, no matter where I go in the game world - until I log out and back in again.)

Just in case anyone cares whether I can push this game or not, my system:

i7-4990k (water cooled by a corsair H90i watercooler in push/pull config)
    16GB DDR3 memory (XPS)
EVGA 1080ti SC2 Hybrid (water cooled GPU/Memory and air cooled VRMs)
Samsung EVO PRO 512GB SSD (dedicated for eso and other games)
    Corsair RM1000 Watt PSU
    Acer Predator X34 GSYNC Monitor - 3440x1440 @ 100hz
Corsair 600T Case with 5 positive pressure high end case fans (radiator fans push air out the back/top of the case)

Runs everything I throw at it, maxed settings in 3440x1440 between 60fps and 100 fps (avg: 90fps). Doom, BF1, The Division, Elite: Dangerous.. just to name a few.

As for ESO... well... it is too bad. Maybe one day if ZOS fixes the issue I will resub again. Until then...

Yep, I'm pretty sure this issue is somehow to some degree related to player texture/particle.

I have noticed this too. I was doing Halins Stand in Bangkorai and Kvatch in Gold Coast quests that meant I had to stay in the city. I had to restart more often than usual even after the previous 44.1 khz fix.

For reference Im using Windows 10.

    I7 4790k @ 4.0ghz
    MSI SLI GTX 970
    MSI Gaming 5
    16gb DDR 3 1866mhz.
    EVGA 750 PSU
    Acer Predator 2560x1440 gsync 144hz.

    GUYS? I found the solution.

I switched the sampling rate from my soundcard from 48KHz to 44.1KHz.

I guess it is some buffer problem of the DirectX sound library.

This is most definitely NOT a fix, I've tested under various conditions for a couple days now and issue still occurs.

Going back to my previous sound settings.

The majority of people in here seem to be using 1080's. I wonder if there is a correlation?

Dear ZeniMax Online Studios, say something. Quit leaving people in the dark.

Peasant Radeon 290 card here, so not just an NVidia thing. Usually I just assume it's an AMD thing... lol. Went from 45-60fps to 15. Fun!

Well...I currently use "Intelligent standby list cleaner".

It automatically purges Stand By List memory on set conditions (you can set yourself too). I manually do it from time to time too.

Google and give it a shot.

Thanks this is probably the only thing i haven't tried yet. Will give it a shot and try back.

this may have helped out a lot.. still testing, so far so good, what do you have your list size and free memory purge set to btw?

BRO!!! I believe this did the trick after 50 mins of testing so far, so good! The game most definitely has a memory leak and this seems to solve it by clearing the standby list and freeing up memory.. I actually watched as eso sucked all my 16gb worth of free memory away. It cleared the standby list twice during my 1 hour test, and its buttery smooth right now even after doing 5 world bosses. Hmm hopefully this is the fix (until a real fix), i will continue my testing... some times i also thought other things worked too then later on turned out not to be the case.

    I'm glad! o:)

Edit. Btw, I have it a the default value atm: 1024 list size and 1024 lower than value, I have 8GB mem. Don't forget to press the Start button, I often do lol, and it will be purging in the background. When I start the game for the day, I first purge, then after loading each program I want in with the game like WTFast, Discord, TS, I do a purge too. The rest I let it do in the background.

Edit2: Oh! And I do load the game last after loading/purge the programs I want to run along the game.
