That being said, the recipe/diagram drop rate is fine, but the material drop rate is FAR TOO LOW. We should be eager to find new diagrams to craft new stuff and try them, instead we're discouraged of all because the mats are too rare.

That's what the "other" option is for. It's not a no not a yes, and currently has the second most votes of all options. I see it as room for improvement and feedback for ZoS to do something with.
On the fence, but I would like to see it improved so I'll say no.
Not a fan of the very Korean-style Cash Shop implementation of it.
The options are:
1. Grind to earn the gold, do the intro quest, and then grind out achievements, as many as 3, if a house is wanted in different faction areas and those achievements haven't been earned, yet.
2. Spend real money on the crown store and conveniently bypass all that.
It's the classic case of "make the non Cash Shop method grindy and inconvenient, so the cash shop alternative will seem more favorable, and people are more likely to pull out the credit card".
It's a manipulative, cash-grabby tactic that's obnoxious enough in true F2P games, but worse when it's done in a B2P game, and moreso if you're also paying a subscription on top of that.
Homestead was not designed to benefit the players. It's designed to benefit ZeniMax.
