1) Showcase your trophies is false. You can use the new monster heads which previously were not trophies in your home, but the previously existing "Trophies" that are so rare and hard to get are not usable.
2) Your Pledge of Mara has nothing whatsoever to do with housing except inasmuch as you can share housing permissions with whomever you'd like which would have been a much more salient point to include in the notification email.
3) Host grand dueling tournaments of up to 25 people if you happen to have millions of gold to spend on the largest homes... or $100 USD.

I actually hadn't heard anything about that. I still love that if you give someone Decorator privileges you can go into the Housing Editor and drop items on people even in the middle of a duel.

Who says it can't be a home? If you live in it, it's your home. It's not a house, but a house is not necessarily a home.

I think it's fair to say that if trying to pan the camera gives you vertigo because there's no enough room then it's not so much a home as a prison cell.

That's what I'm talking about. I just received the email and I became confused. When they first announced they were releasing this update, months ago, they said there would be a free home so I waited excitedly all this time. Then when they released the update recently I excitedly went to read about it and read it's not a home it's a room, so I was sad again. Then I got the email saying it is a home so I got excited again and I went into the forums here to see what other people are saying about it only to find it IS a room.. so I feel like we're sort of being lied to and manipulated by ESO. I feel kind of angry about this.

I went to purchase my house, previewed it, was more than happy to pay the gold for it, but then was shocked to find out that I couldn't furnish it with gold, but crowns only. What a let down that was. I didn't have the crowns to furnish my house that I wanted so badly. I stood in my empty house for 30 minutes trying to find a way, a link, a quest marker, anything that would take me to someone where I could pay gold to completely furnish my house. But there was none. So, I wanted this house, so I purchased it with game gold. But now I own a perfectly awesome (empty) home.
Now don't get me wrong, I plan to craft items for my home, but with the chances of me getting all the blueprints I will need to do this will take me years to finally furnish my home. NO BUENO. In a world of microwaves and instant gratification, I would love to completely furnish my home now. Not 2 years down the road.
The most disappointing thing to me is, there is NO way other than crafting (that I can see) to completely furnish your home. I would pay the crowns to furnish my home from the crown store, but I don't see it offered. I can earn the gold to buy furnishings, and I can even accumulate crowns to do so. I would love to see an option to completely furnish my home (like it did when I first purchased it). if crowns it must be, then fine, I will get the crowns eventually. Gold, perfect, I have millions. But to only offer to buy furnishings piece by piece or craft it... most disappointing.
Please offer complete home furnishing so I don't have to stand in my empty, poorly lit home any more.

While I agree with your last two points, your first three points are not quite on target.
1. There are Trophies that you can get, you get them from the Trophy Vendor, see this page
http://deltiasgaming.com/2017/01/07/eso-house-achievement-list/
2. The Ring of Mara statement was more an RP than anything else. You can limit visitors to your house to just one person, and not a guild. I did not read it as the Ring of Mara having anything to do with Housing.
3. You do not need the largest house to host Dueling Tourneys. Forsaken Stronghold is one that has excellent grounds for this. There are others too with good grounds, but I will let you go find them. Sure, there are some houses that have no grounds for dueling. And, finally, one of the cheapest houses in the game is right next to the built in Dueling Arena in Strormhaven. Which you would use anyway for any decent tournaments due to the 25 player limit. And, that place is always empty, probably because there was no Wayshrine near it, or any other reason to visit.
Yep, crafting furniture is a grind, and it is not a fun grind either. I don't think I will ever make much if anything for any houses. I may just sell the mats I have collected after looking at some recipes.
And, don't get me started on storage, I look at all the containers in my house and just cry that I can't put stuff in there like every other TES game I ever played. They gave some technical reason for it, but they could have carved out a Mules worth of storage in each house.

@LokomotivBreath
There are in game vendors for Furniture that sell for Gold. If you do the Intro Quest for Housing you are shown where one of them is. I have not explored them yet, but I imagine there is one vendor per zone, possibly in the Inn in the major city or maybe the bank, not sure.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b40Vjk7EGjI
