Account wide achievements; shared housing made the first step?

dactorionb16_ESO
Now that housing is introduced, I wondered if it was not a good time to address account wide achievements. Houses are set to account wide with Homestead thus in a way it would make sense to make achievements account wide as well.

- With houses being account wide, other characters next to the character that has been used to buy the actual house can contribute to the achievements which unlock achievement vendors on your House-owner.
- Some achievements take are already a big chore to complete on one character, let alone if those achievements would be needed for other characters as well. For example: Black Market Mogul, Tamriel Trailblazer etc.
- This would immediately also mean all your characters would have opened up the dyes that are locked behind achievements.
- It would be less punishing for playing an alt, seeing it will contribute to achievement completion on your whole account.

Account wide housing has made good step towards sharing things between characters. I hope in the near future more will be shared among characters, like achievements.

Titles make all mess. Until ZOS will separate titles from achievements, we will not see account wide achievements. People with "No 10lvl stormproof allowed!" whining always will be louder.

Look at other "account wide achievements" threads, it is the first argument against.

No thanks, for all the reasons given in the countless other threads - which basically boil down to the fact that I play my characters as individual equals leveling through the game for the journey, and not as "my main plus some end-game short-cut alts" so I don't want anything else made account-wide (and would actually be very happy if they made champion points and dye unlocks character specific too).

There are strong cases to be made on both sides of the argument so far as having things account-wide is concerned, and I think the present arrangement strikes a good balance between them. Leave well alone!

And I'm playing the game as "my main plus some end-game short-cut alts". And I don't want to loose time I can spent for doing achievements on main, playing the alts. For example, I'm forced to extract ore, wood and cloth from raw materials by my main, cuz it's need refining achievement. With account wide ach. it doesn't matter, which one of my chars extracts materials from raw.

Exactly. Even for role-play reasons. I want the dyes, behind "criminal" block of achievements. Now I'm forced to do them with my bright-light, sweet and divine-worshiping healer girl. With account wide I can create dark assassin toon for that.

I actually hope they remove Dyes from achievements and give us something awesome as reward and as for Dyes, make Dye Crafting for that. Dyes aint gonna cut it for me to do achievement, but some nice Personality would most definitely do the trick.

While I really would like to see achievements be account wide, why not use the middle ground:

2 seperate catogories: character achievements (everything earned on that character), and account wide cumulative (every achievemnt earned by at leat one of your characters). This would allow the achievements of your character (and titles) to still be seperated by character, while still providing a list of all earned and unearned acheivements for achievement hunters/completionists.

Player can do all the achievements with one char or then use multiple chars, isnt enough middle ground?

I simply cant understand why people think Achievement it such a big deal, I would understand the whining if its about gears or CPs, but achievements are next to useless in this game.

My usual objection to this often raised topic - i.e. this is a 'role playing game' not an 'account playing game'.

I want each of my characters to have their own achievements and titles - dyes really should not have been shared as they were. Housing also should not have been shared, although I can think of some possible reasons why they were forced down that route.

However I would strongly support having the ability to view a summary of what you had achieved across all your play time on the character load pages so that players that feel as you do can review and enjoy your overall progress without robbing me of the uniqueness of each character I create.

    - This would immediately also mean all your characters would have opened up the dyes that are locked behind achievements.

    Dyes are already shared account-wide.

I have my main wearing the black my alchemist earned for the Toxicologist achievement. I have a Covenant alt wearing the red my main won for beating the Pact storyline. I have my thief wearing the purple earned by my master clothier.

    Dyes are already shared.

Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Now that housing is introduced, I wondered if it was not a good time to address account wide achievements...
    Nah.
Been to this idea many, many times, still haven't heard any decent argument for it other then "gimme stuffs"...

Housing, like crown store unlocks or dyes, being account wide makes sense.

Achievements account wide make no sense whatsoever, no matter how many times the gimme crowd whines for it to happen.
After all, they are to track your characters -achievements- so you can check which skyshards you may have missed, which motiv pages you still have to look for, which landmarks you found, what you have done on that character and what you yet have to do...

And the dyes achievements can unlock are already account wide... yet the titles never should be. Thus I expect any housing unlocky stuff to be account wide as well... while leaving the individual achievements character-specific.

And no character really -needs- achievement completions, unless you really want some special title. And if you do - then work for it.

What I -do- want to see is an "achievement overview" page, opened from the character selection scrteen, where you can see which of your alts has completed what achievement - and possibly earn extra rewards for multiple achievement completions (like, say, play through the mainstory with every class, or reach some PvP rank in every alliance, or whatever...)

My level 10 Argonian bank alt currently wears the merchant suit costume reward from the Thieves Guild quest line and recently received the title Clan Father by visiting a manor (both obtained through another character's achievement.) All of the dyes I earned on my other characters are available for his use.

I'm good with this - it's all cosmetic.

However they recently added master writ drops for crafting that look at crafting achievements on the character doing the writ. I don't think they'd ever make all achievements account wide because of that.

Partly agree, a level 10 with the Flawless Conquerer achievement is fine, since the player earned it and it helps measure the overal progression of the player through the game, a level 10 with high end titles below their character name is not fine, since the character did not earn it, and thus should not be able to benefit from such status symbol.

Furthermore, please add achievements for people with lots of alts, ranging from have a character of each class of level 50, to some more fun achievements like have a breton complete the orsinium questline (which would not be possible as achievment if these were still per character)

No, and it should not. They designed achievements to be Character, and that benefits players who "like to watch the movie again". I am one of those. When I play a new character, I don't want everything handed to them because some other character did it already. The game makes me share across characters for many things. I have to live with that and accept it, just as the account wide achievement people have to live with the opposite, if they want to stay with the game.

    No

Achievments are your characters achievments in Tamriel, you dont live in Tamriel. Account wide stuff only serves to loose interest in certain character.

Like i loved to do achievments on new alt on new realm in WOW, then came account wide, now i dont have anything to do anymore since all stuff is allrready done by some other character i lost interest ages ago.

Account wide stuff also removes some replayability from game.

Also i hate that houses are forced to be account wide for all characters, im fine with the fact that i dont have to buy them again, but i would rather have an extra option to get same house for different character than my previous character has but with different themes, Its not like my Nord shieldmaiden who fights against reachmen would likely live in the same house with reachman character who uses it for unthinkable rituals.

Colors/Dyes are only thing that should be account wide.

Character based achievements to me it is mean, not in this game just usual = there are few content in the game. But as others company did, here is the counterpart :)) 4 different account-wide achievement, Have a lvl50 dragonknight, sorcerer, templar, nightblade ;)

The problem with the achiements in this game:
The achievements mean = you can check what u done and what not with the characters.
    Did I collect all skyshard?
    Did I finished ...?

If they would create account-wide achievements then they would do some improvements with characters' statics like Cadwell's Almanac (zone story tracker/history).
