Vivec City During The Time of ESO

Baar Dau should indeed be just hanging there at this moment of time. We are just helping Vivec to regain his powers (sigh, poor gods constantly losing their powers) so that the rock doesn't continue its descent and destroy the city etc.

What is odd however in that in the picture of Vivec from the south (we can see the Red Mountain in the far north) there shouldn't be land in the south as it is the Inner Sea

The only way land should be visible is if we were on the slight left of the city but then Red Mountain shouldn't be so visible. We are probably on the small island on the south of Ebonheart (Vvardenfell side of the city) and south west of Vivec City

But in any case, it is just a drawing that is meant to be dramatic and as it looks so impressive perhaps it can be overlooked. And look at the size of that meteor!! And the stones just trailing it. Impressive to think it is just floating there!

I want to leave "XxX was here" mark in a wall somewhere, so my grandgranggrandson will find it in 700 years from now.

That the picture from the end of the trailer I mentioned. Either the asteroid is already hanging over the city and we need to help Vivec regain his strength to keep it from rocketing down or like someone said here, during the storyline the asteroid is inbound and not suspended in air.

If the later turns out to be true, then based on the lore Sheogorath will be a major part of the story.

The asteroid is already hanging there. That's partly why you need to help Vivec because if his powers are waning then that rock is gonna crash down

I think it's more likely that the asteroid will be arriving over the course of the storyline. Not there at all to start with, then suspended there for all time* at the end. Remember that the lore states Sheogorath threw the moon at the city when it was new, and the city is most certainly new right now, since it's under construction.

When Sheogorath rebelled against the Tribunal, he tricked the moon Baar Dau into forsaking its appointed path through Oblivion. The Mad Star inspired the moon to hurl itself upon Vivec's new city, which Sheogorath claimed was built in mockery of the heavens.
