Do you want a one time class change offer?

  • Kevin_of_Devinshire
    Yes
I have put gold and time into leveling my bag size and maxing my horse. Gathering Provisioning recipes. Leveling Crafting and researching. and other things on all my toons that are outside of the new skill line. I don't want to delete any of my toons to start the new Warden, so I guess I'm stuck buying a new toon slot. So if it was optional to just change class on one of my many Sorcs, DK's, NB's, or Templars it would be more of an option for me.

Class change tokens open up a bunch of new problems. "I changed my main the x class and y skill is buggy, refund me!" "I hate x class I changed to, I want my main back. Whatdya mean I have to PAY for it?" "You changed x skill in my FOTM class I PAID for, bait and switch!"

I don't know any major mmo, off the top of my head, that does paid class changes. Starting fresh with a brand new class, in a brand new zone sounds like a lot more fun than my main suddenly being something different.

100% yes. I don't care about leveling to 50, as most people who are voting no seem to think this is why we vote yes. I care about that this new class seems like it would be better suited towards play styles and characters that we already have. My frostmage can finally actually have skills that are not strictly from the staff line!

My nature loving ranger can finally have some nature skills and animal companions!

I care more about horse riding progress than leveling 1-50. WE KNOW leveling 1-50 is not a big deal and totally misses the point. Oh, I Would ALSO be creating a new warden to level up as well ! I am very attached to my characters and I would like to give them the class they were hopefully always meant to be.

It's hard to read ZOS these days, so who knows if it will ever happen but we can dream!

Unless it resets your skills and character level (don't worry, CP rank stays if your 50 again) all back to 1, then no.

@Spectral_Lord Woopdee-bleeping-doo, to be frank. Levelling is braindead easy, all I want is to be able to have my main, my scaly baby, my chubby argonian with the buxom booty, to stay who he is (+2 years of crafting and adventuring) but as a warden.

I actually do not get this argument. Not one person will be deterred by having to level. That's easy, easy, easy with a cherry on top. There's no "work" or "reward" to levelling to 50 for the 4th, 8th, 12th, or any more times. Seriously.

@KochDerDamonen Well, if we are going to talk like this. I dun diddly dunt get why sum sham liam lum doobily character should start with max skillies taking away learning its skills, because it got dat big fat butt wiggle wiggle wiggle dat tail. Seriously.

People will grind to 50 and not know how to play anyways, this isn't saving anyone any headaches. If you PUG dungeons, you know how many people in this game do NOT understand their class already.

    This isn't helpful.

Why are the arguments of the "no" advocates always so poor. I'd really like to discuss the issues people have with class changes, but things like this just totally miss the mark of why people even want class changes.
Nobody cares about level 1 to 50. Heck, for all I care, reset my character to level 1 when I change class. Done.

It would be so horrible. The expansion is released, GF places a fully leveled Warden CP900 in your group, obviously needs to be kicked since they do not know how to play the class.

Let them create a thread about being kicked from the group.

If you do a one-time class change people complain that they can't do it constantly.

So we can't have something because people might complain that they didn't get more?

And if you allow people to pay for it people will just meta hop.

If it's so easy to level new relevant characters why would people pay for a class change instead of simply making a new one for free? Paying is exactly what would deter "meta hopping". Which is a non-issue with one-directional changes to new classes anyway, and already exists in the form of race changes as many times as people like.

If you want to play new character start from scratch like every game has always done. You shouldn't have everything another characters done on a character that didn't do it

We don't want to play a new character, we want to use new content (i.e., skill lines) with existing characters.
No idea what you mean with "a character that didn't do it". My characters earned everything they did. Picking a class at character selection is not really much of an achievement, is it?

One of my 9 characters is a level 4 Bosmer nightblade that I made because I needed more storage. I didn't really need a third nightblade, but I needed to pick something for my Bosmer, so that's what I picked. I'd love the option to turn her into a stamina warden, but I'd be hard-pressed to throw away all the gold I spent to max out her inventory. I may decide at some point that the financial sacrifice is worth it to have my character spread the way it "should" be, but I'd vastly prefer the option to just convert her into the class that it makes more sense for her to be.

I mean I'll live, but if I had my druthers, that's what they'd be.

I'd rather see this via the Crown store for like 5000. Pricey enough so it's not a common occurrence, but obtainable by anyone serious about it.

Edit to add: The Warden class should have a period of time where you cannot convert to it. Like 6 months from release.

I think there are some ppl (like me) that rly like to collect all the achivments, titles, ranks on one character. I think when zos adds a new class to the game that wasnt an option at launch they should give class change ability atleast for the new class(maybe for small period of time)
I would rly like to play Warden because i like animal summoner style gameplay but i want to play it with all the achivments title ranks etc...(Emperor,Flawless,Hist Shadow, Festival Achivs) that i worked hard to earn for like 2 years. Some of them as Festival achivs arent even obtainable anymore. Also i dont have much time to play and getting pvp rank 31 again will take months... I dont mind lvling all the skillined again but getting all the achivments again is a pain. Zos cant make all the achivments in game be account wide for obvious reasons but could atleast give chance to change to warden class at release of morrowind.

Unless it resets your skills and character level (don't worry, CP rank stays if your 50 again) all back to 1, then no.

I wouldn't mind that. As long as I can keep my crafting stuff (traits and motifs) and my event titles, I'm game.
Plus, I'm really afraid that someone might take my characters' names while I'm rerolling ;x
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.

I mentioned this in other similar threads...having additional character slots is cool, but I think for many players it's only a partial solution. ESO could really use a class change feature. I'd be fine if ZOS charged crowns for it so they get some monetary compensation. Right now I have my main character that I've completed most of the game on (main story, Cadwell quests, DLC stories, collected all skyshards, max Undaunted, high Alliance rank, Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, mount upgrades, inventory upgrades, etc.). I think creating another character and "power grinding" your way to max level just to enjoy another class is way too restrictive and time consuming...I've completed the entire story and while it was enjoyable I have no desire to play through it again. I've ventured down the "power grind" path with my crafter and frankly it's mind numbing and not very fun...generally just trying to speed through everything to get the achievements that I've already unlocked on my main.

Couple of things to consider regarding class change:
    1) FOTM builds:
There are some who might argue that it would foster a community of FOTM builds, in which everyone shifts to the class and race combo that is considered the "most powerful" for that patch window. I don't think this applies to the casual player though. I'm more of a casual player and I login to ESO to have fun and don't really care about my leaderboard stats or if I'm dominating everyone in Cyrodiil. I just want to continue to use my main character but have some fun trying out a different class. If FOTM builds due to class change is really a concern there could be ways to address that (e.g. increasing the cost in the Crown Store and/or in game gold). Plus as another player mentioned, people who migrate to FOTM class/set combos likely already have a lot of characters alts they shift to every patch to remain in the power curve.
    2) Implementation:
The question has arisen as to how class skill levels would be handled during a class change. One way to handle this would be to have a system that counts the number of skills you have maxed on your current class and allows you to max the same number on your new class (kinda like assigning a skill point, you would be able to pick the skills you wanted to max). This could be extended to encompass class skill ranks, skill morphs, etc. This is just a quick idea. My main point here is it's not an unsolvable problem.

In general, giving players more options and flexibility to enjoy ESO on their own terms is a VERY good thing. For example ZOS adding the combat numbers feature was a good thing...especially because they gave players the option to turn it off. We as players should be wary of taking a stance towards other players of "I don't want you to have that option.", especially if having a certain option would appeal to a large number of players and doesn't impinge on our own ESO adventures.

I found a solution with a class change token.

People like me think warden is a better fit for our character, but dont want to start again and get rid of all achievements.

My idea is that class token should remove all class specific skills point you added to your character, but keep the points in general skills (mage guild, crafting, etc.).
When in the new class, the skills for this class are lvl 1 and you need to lvl up...

If you return back to older class, you get back your points and skills levels for this class.

    What do you think?
