Question about suspensions and bans

Please Note that this is NOT a "Boo Hoo I got banned" thread AT ALL. I am just curious about what exactly happens when your account is suspended or banned.

Basically, I've been playing ESO for well over a year now. My boyfriend bought it for me and we've been playing it on and off ever since. I don't really talk to people much in game, if at all. I usually just keep to myself. I used to play Cyrodiil quite a bit, but I haven't been into it much sense TamOne.

Anyway, last night I tried to log in. I usually do not log in through steam. When I logged in without steam I got a message saying my account was suspended, same thing when I logged into my account through the website. So, I tried to log in through steam. That popped up a message box, literally from the top of my screen to the bottom, that said "Contact customer support. Your account has been permanently banned" over and over and over. Does ZOS normally troll that hard when banning folks? o.O

So, I checked my email, the only email I had from ESO was one saying that I cancelled my ESOPlus, which I did not, at all. There is no email telling me why this happened, why I get mixed messages logging in with or without steam... Just.. Nothing. I sent in a ticket to support but have not heard back yet. And before people start replying "Hacks" No, only thing I use on eso are add-ons I got from Minion and I have not added any new ones in quite some time. The only thing I can think of that could possibly make this happen would be some issues I was having with my paypal account some months back. But, all of that has sense been resolved completely. So, I don't know.


Anyway, my question is, could this be a mess up on their part? This happened during the whole ESOPlus issues yesterday I assume by looking at the time the "you canceled your esoplus" email was sent. But, when someone get's suspended or banned do they usually receive some sort of email stating what is going on or no?



Will say too, I don't know if this sort of thread is against the forum rules or not. I'm not trying to ban appeal over here or anything like that. Just wanting to know what normally happens when you get suspended or banned. But, if this is not allowed mods please remove this thread and I apologize D;

Well at least you are not banned from forum. Thats a thing.

But if i have to leave jokes aside, i've been playing for 6 months and haven't seen anyone get banned. Not even someone worth being banned. Eso has very nice community and i've never seen anything disturbing in chat except some arguments in cyrodiil and yesterdays malab tor zone chat(pc eu server), but of course that is an exception. Anyway i am here ro show my grieve. Hope your issue is solved in no time. Since you can not send a ticket your bf may send one for you but i don't think that will work.

Normally when you're banned they send an email to the email account linked to your ESO account informing you that you were banned and explaining it's either permanently or for 3 days or however long it is.

However, this information is from back when they used to have humans handling this stuff instead of Chetbots so it might be different now and a ban is a ban unless they rescind it through ticket submission.

Hmm I was able to send in a support ticket just didn't log in to send it. And thank you Junipus, good info. But, yeah, their support now.......... I've never had much luck with their support in the past, hoping this will be different :[

Did you by any chance use Multi craft addons? You can get banned for using it too much.

Wait Multi craft addon from Esoui can get you banned? How is that even possible I used it for a short time but I decided to get rid of it since it got annoying with the Food mod that Installed. Also lazywrit allows you to automatically craft writs without having to worry about finding each item in the list to craft for the daily writs, wonder if that bannable to cause like I bet 90% of the entire game uses that one.

It can get you banned, there are victims already and I think there should be a warning on Multicraft download plage

Yes they can if they want. You can open ticket and confess and see if you get banned or no.


As far as I know it is violating the ToS, though the only one that got banned by ZoS as far as I know is the one that pushes too far (for example leaving multicraft addon over the night)

WTF Yeah, I did have a multi craft addon. It's the "MultiCraft by DonutEnigma" I get all my add-ons from Minion. I don't do a lot of crafting though. The last time I used it was probably a month or so ago to do up some runes and food for one of my noobie characters.. I don't recall doing any insane amounts with it though.

I hadn't even thought about add-ons cause I guess I stupidly assume that if it's available for the game through minion it is okay to use!? I've had multi-craft for several months too.

What about the add-on that auto puts the Cyro Manuveurs skill on your bar when you get on your mount?? Has anyone used that? I'm looking at my Minion right now and I'm not seeing it in my list of add-ons I have.... I believe it was a newish add-on? Anyone know anything about that? It was the last add-on I added to my game, only a few weeks ago actually.....

Ah, yeah I guess if you step away from the keyboard for a very long time it would consider it to be a bot/macro but I just use lazywrit on the spot to craft the daily writs

Well, I most certainly didn't use it THAT much. I'd just do 50 or 100 food for my characters here and there and a set of runes for my armour.......

There's also another one called Foodwiz that allows you to multicraft food as well so becareful with that one too I guess and not use it to your advantage most of the time

Well, first thing I suggest is the ticket asking for clarification, reasons, and restoration of the account.

Second thing I recommend is not saying anything in the forum about the action, particularly speculation as to why. I don't think they really share why, in any detail, and if the user provides their own reason, all the better.

The CMs cannot do anything. They do not want it being discussed, since we cannot do anything either. All we can do is say what people already should know.

I don't think they monitor that addon automation thing all that much. I have used Cookery Wiz (not since Crafting Bags came out I might add) to make up 200 of each CP150 Green Recipe for selling to an NCP Vendor. That is like 900 Craft Operations being done over and over again to make 3600 Foods and Drinks. It takes about 45 minutes to complete that if your curious. I would do this at least once a week.

Although it's true that, formally speaking, addons like multicraft are against the ToS, I highly doubt anyone ever has or ever will be banned for using them.
If you know people who say they've be banned for that reason, I think they're lying about the real reason of their ban.

OP, it looks like you've been banned for no reason - in which case customer service is the way to go. Or for some reason - you're the only one to really know. Or your account has been hacked and used by someone else.

Banning players using add-ons to fill in for the failings of ZOS (can't see writ requirements while in crafting station / clunky crafting UI) while letting bots run around farming mats or XP while having a client with way too many holes that can be exploited would be the height of absurdity.

And just saying the TOS doesn't allow any automation as a reason for a ban is pretty lazy and poor customer service.

ZOS makes the rules and enforces the rules, they could and should differentiate between players actually playing the game while using QOL add-ons to do writs or make food and those scum bag gold farmers botting mats all day causing issues with the economy.
