You CAN do this but you would have to make sure you have 1x iceheart for the crit and 1x sharpened netch. With julianos however you can craft the weapon so is a lot easier to put together.
The reason for the need for the netch staff with TBS is so that you don't make a TBS weapon and then loose the bonus when you switch bars (if you have vma staff on the back bar). However if you don't have a maelstrom weapon yet of course you can get away with 2x TBS staves. Just be sure to alter your setup once you DO get that vma weapon.
Basically whichever set up you use, be sure you hit at LEAST 65% crit.

dummy is [snip] test since he is a bit stubborn with off balance and that is what this build is made for, however we are talking 30-33k dps with zero struggle to sustain, HIGH aoe damage, and freedom to buff and shield to your hearts content without struggle. So, when is a necro not really a necro? When the build's been updated.

I check out several builds from time to time, usually to see how close what I come up with is to the typical build (which your is not, and that's a good thing.)

With your latest iteration, something's been bugging me about Infiltrator out parsing Netch's Touch.

• Both have a +Magicka bonus, so that's a wash.
• The 4 pc from Netch's should be comparable (if not slightly higher) than the 3 pc from Infiltrator, equivalent to ~1302 Mag vs Infiltrator's 1096 (again, Netch's should come out ahead)

So the main difference ends up being in the 5 pc bonus. Infiltrator, tooltip wise anyway should give about +1k DPS. Netch's should boost every skill you have and the LA/HA's, as well.

So how, @Xynode , does adding 400 SD vs Infiltrator effectively lose an additional 3-4k dps?

Is there some subtle thing I'm missing, or is it just a theorycraft vs ZoS live-in-practice quirky thing?

Yes infiltrator with this setup outperforms netch and spider but the old setup still works very very well. It is more about the stacking bonuses from infiltrator+aether + maelstrom combined than anything else over all. The large POP damage at the end of aether too (and the extra crit chance) aside from the minor vulnerability bonus(which maybe applied by status effects anyway) also benefits. It is very strong indeed.

Remember netch and spider is spell damage to the damage type but in summerset max (max mag/stam) resources push more now into your light and heavies. Infiltrator gives a flat bonus to the lights and heavies specifically, rather than stacking on top of what you may or may NOT have in your spell damage.

Remember however the old setup will still work fine. Follow the website link in the description of the video for alternate setups.

One more thing also about the 3pc setups vs 4 etc...we can use 2x 5 piece and a monster set now with staves counting as two pieces. That changed a LOT of things:)

So, you're saying 4k dps loss from old setup to current, not from Groth/IA/Netch(/Jules, etc) to Groth/IA/Infiltrator?

If that's the case, it makes more sense.

I was simply referring to set to set comparison, with Infiltrator giving 2xMag + the 5pc bonus (since 4 pc is unused on mag), vs +crit, +mag, +SD, + 5pc on Netch.

If figured Netch would still come out on top, as all the damage is Lightning damage.

Yup about 4k drop BUT still usable and still more than viable. It got an increase on the previous patch due to a full monster but IA/Groth/UI came out stronger every time.

Also consider, before we had a 2x mag bonus (one from each set). If you swapped any set THEN for IA you would have 1x mag and 1x minor slayer.

Now not only are lights and heavies scaled MUCH more for max magicka now rather than spell damage but to also contribute to that we actually have 3x magicka bonuses! (2x from UI and 1x from grothdar) AND minor slayer. The stacking bonuses towards our skills and base attacks are much higher, before we even look at the stacking bonuses from IU, IA and maelstrom.

@xynode Just watching this a second time now; seems just what I was looking for.

But... I'm wondering.
I have a Sharp Infall Lightning staff (a guildie was kind enough to donate in a trial, lucky me) and gold Infall jewellery - which I'd prefer to use than having to farm Arx over and over (I did manage to solo it last night but I'd prefer not to do that as it takes a long time, and it'll be a while until it comes back up in the pledge roster).
Can I make my existing pieces work? What should go where?

so long as you have 5 light armour pieces there are many combinations that can work. I would get the jewellery though and the best you can do with that is 2 medium armour pieces, 3 infal light and 2 monster light. You will get 5-2 instead of 5-11 but it will work if that is the only option you have right now. However i would encourage you to go for the staff and jewels combined (loot everything, my staff came from trash on live stream) in order to optimize but you CAN make it work in different orders yes.

If you want a stupid easy build there are way easier ways to hit over 30k than this I think.

Double pet, inner light and bound aegis (double barred) Siroria + Queens Elegance + Zaans + Vma back bar. Drop blockade, bar swap, drop liquid lightning, pet ability, light attack until blockade runs out and repeat.

I know the first boss drops a named necklace so maybe I'll go kill it a dozen times tonight.
Do you happen to know all the chest spawn locations in there? I know there's one up a ruined staircase near the final boss and one in her room, and one near the second waterfall but that's it.

Hmm all locations ? not exactly where i can explain no, but i can say that there are about 6-7 of them and sometimes you can get them all in one run. Best i can say without drawing a map is keep your eyes peeled, check behind and in front of everything:)

You know, it's really sad. I'm 42 lvl and I play sorc with 1st dark magic skill, dark exchange, (some kind of) shard prison, and 2 familiars with atronach as ult. Atack group of enemies with shards, use exchange if low on mana, blah blah blah... But then there comes some random 750 lvl sorc and instantly kills anything he sees with lightning skills... How the feck I say, because I didn't like lightning skills, they seemed weak. Some random sorc with useless lightnings does the same thing I do but faster in 15 times... This is unfair and unbalanced :<

Only if you've placed points in the CP tree that increases acid damage, specifically to the point where you get the passive Reflux.
