What is the optimal skill/armor set for a Templar healer?

I wanted to get into this game, but I like to start out as strong as I can. I am sure there are people that have gone and either done the math or put in a lot of time to see what is best. So, what is best for an Argonian Templar?

There's an incredibly wide array of situationally useful Sets for healers. Spell power cure is always welcome. But for day to day healing it's hard to ignore the synergy of using Clever Alchemist on an Argonian, as slugging potions works so well with their passive.

Depends on if you heal PvE or PvP. I´ve no knowledge about PvP but for PvE I´ve heard this:

    5 SPC (Spell power cure)
5 Worm/Infailable aether (Will be trash next patch but whatever)
    Master resto staff
Destro staff by choice or another resto

That is great and all, but every game has an armor set and skill set best suited for something like PvE. Don't tell me something about make it up yourself they are all equal. I am sure we all know there is that one build that is superior to all at every mmo game.

You come across as quite arrogant, the tiny difference in numbers the different sets make has a small output compared to skill, just practice and make sure everything's set up as it should be.

Plus the sets listed is probably what most healers will be running with...

    Master Resto for stamina return
    X5 SPC is essential
Then most go with x5 IA/x5 Gossamer/x5 worm

Spell power cure (5pc) is THE best set for healing. There's really no competition, simply because all other sets (Julianos, Kagrenac etc) only give stats to one character - the one that wears them. And spc give extra spell/weapon damage to everyone including the caster. Its capped at 6 people though, so in 12-man raids both healers have to wear it.
Thats basically how support build minmaxing works. When you're trying to optimize your build, you shouldnt look at the buffs youre getting, you should think how it would help the group. Most of endgame builds have low sustain and rely on group buffs so your job is to provide these buffs and maximize group's damage output and survivability/sustain.

    Spell Power Cure x5
    Infused Master Restoration Staff

If you are using a destruction staff on the back bar then Infused Master Destruction Staff (Lightning or Fire, NOT Frost) just for the maximum magicka boost, although Templars even as healers also do well dual-wielding Swords (not sure the best set for swords, Torug's Pact is decent and easy to craft but it's no longer the Best in Slot option, even though it's in the top 5).

The last 5x set is very situational. A few of the favorites:
    - Worm (especially Trials)
    - Infallible Aether (especially Trials; some confusion about its utility after next patch; not needed if run by a dps)
    - Twilight Remedy (especially Trials; some groups love it, others hate it)
    - Julianos (great for speed runs through dungeons, boosts heals and damage, crafted)
    - Willpower Jewelry + Monster Helm (Bogdan, Chokethorn, Rkugamz, or Troll King; I don't like any of these helms but some people swear by them; useful in dungeons)
    - Kagrenac's (fast resurrections of other players; useful in dungeons, crafted)
    - Seducer or Eyes of Mara (crafted sustain sets, not really endgame imho, but for some builds or for groups with higher heal requirements they are useful)
Why be normal when you can be better?

    Elissandra Ravenwing, Magicka Dragonknight Healer
    Lady Kalila, Stamina Templar DPS
    Stands-in-Danger, Nightblade Saptank
    Zalarah, Stamina Dragonknight DPS

Honestly, any that covers the basics: Magicka, Spell Power, Spell Critical, Magicka Regeneration, Health. As was stated above (as is the case with every role in the game) the gear matters far less than what you actually do in battle.

    Look at this way:
    - Your equipment, attributes, CP etc etc, set the genetic ceiling for your character (it's absolute genetic potential). That's the easy part.
    - How close your character comes to realising that potential is down to what is actually done during battle (e.g. skill use when & where, positioning, knowing when to block/dodge/interrupt, etc). That's the hard part.

Because the former is relatively easy to quantify most everyone focuses on that. But it's the latter that is far more important.
If you can be anything, be kind.
