Do we have to purchase crowns?

For testing, if I run out of crowns, do I need to purchase more from the crown store?
Am I using up my overall crowns? Or is this separate from my regular account?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is all new to me.

It is separate from your main account, and you will get a fresh supply of crowns everyday.

I have no idea if you even can purchase crowns for the PTS but I definitely wouldn't recommend it!

Everything on the PTS is completely separate from the main (Live) server.

ZOS copy over everyone's accounts from the NA server shortly before testing a new release starts, and then half way through swap to a copy of the EU server, so depending on when you log in and which server you're on it might look just like the Live server, but nothing you do there will affect your actual account. You could delete all your character and items and when you log into the Live server they'll still be there.

This is important for 2 reasons: On the bad side the PTS is using an unfinished build which means there are potentially a lot of bugs and some of them could really mess things up, as in you may never be able to log into a character ever again. No one wants that to happen to your actual account. On the good side it means they can do things like allow us to create characters at CP160, or give us 10 million gold and 5,500 crowns a day for free without breaking the game's economy.

As Jim said I don't think it's even possible to buy crowns for the PTS, but there's no need to because every day your balance is reset to 5,500.
