    No, both are purely cosmetic.

    right, so they could totally be revamped to do these things.... I know they already ARE, however leaving them this way does nothing and will continue to do nothing, because they are "cosmetic".

    considering some of these motifs to obtain are time consuming, it couldn't hurt to add more incentive towards collecting them.

    Whats wrong with them being just cosmetic?
    At least now I can mix and match the looks... But if they would have stats, everyone would wear the same minmaxed motif (which is already happening due to lack of transmog system). That would be really boring.
    Not to mention p2w aspect since most of cosmetics are sold in crown store.

    Imo, being able to swap styles of dropped gear would be a good enough incentive.

    Motif are only applied to items that you create that will already have attributes, so pointless.

    Cosmetics are only cosmetic for a reason.

    Stormproof: Vibeke - 50 EP mDragonknight | Savi Dreloth - 50 EP Magsorc | Sadi Dreloth - 50 EP Magblade | Sigtric Stormaxe - 50 EP Stamsorc | Valora Dreloth - 50 EP Magplar | Sigtric the Unbearable 50 EP Stam Warden
    Scrub: Chews-on-Beavers - 50 EP DK Tank | Vera the Wild - 50 EP magicka Warden | Sigtric the Axe - 50 EP Dragonknight Crafter | Sigtric the Blade - 50 EP Lost Nightblade | Sigtric the Savage - 50 EP magicka Templar | Vibeka Shadowblade - 50 Ep Stealthy Ganky Nightblade |

    Can't speak to heavy armor, but I find the light/medium armors get uglier with every increase in level. After a few upgrades, they need to be covered up by a costume.

    I wonder if this is due to poor fashion sense by designers or intentional to encourage purchasing costumes. Lol.

    an example would be ;

    when you craft in the "bone" style you get +0.5% increase vs undead per style/armor
    when you craft in the " argentum" style you get +0.5% increase vs dragonknight per style/armor

    or on a costume like "wizards hat" it could "decrease casting time by 0.01% or something special.

    kinda like if you pair squirtle up against a charmander water has an advantage over fire in a pokemon battle

    or if a tarutaru blue mage decides he's going to use bludgeon vs a skeleton his bludgeon is increased by 25% which would suck if you decide your going to be a cardinal vs a skeleton mage in monstrocity (final fantasy XI)

    the bonuses you get from any armor set are pretty much the same , Max HP MP ST , increases spell/physical resistance, adds spell damage / physical damage, adds spell critical / physical critical, ST HP MP recovery, increases damage / reduces damage from dungeon from dungeon / trial 5%, 2% healing, or in the rare exception of physical penetration from x1 Mon.Helm, out of the 250+ armor sets available there are only about 18 different 1-4 set lines, so if you were to add some extra very small bonuses to the motifs it would create a higher desire to collect style types, vs storing x700 adamantite in your crafting bag.

    Oh, I see. I don't care about motifs since they get ugly at higher levels and need to be covered by a costume too.

    Please don't mess with costumes. I really like the simplicity of picking them purely on looks. I would hate the distraction of passing up or taking stats based on costume choice.

    and then they could eventually work out an upgrade system with the extra style materials kinda like a quest to collect X amount of style materials to powerup your armor even further;

    crafting in the Breton style increases your max HP by 0.01%

    level 1 collect x25 Breton style materials then you get "increases your max HP by 0.02%

    level 2 collect x50 Breton style materials then you get "increases your max HP by 0.05%

    level 3 collect 100 Breton style materials then you get "increases your max HP by 0.10%

    take away the style armor npcs, that way people would deconstruct stuff to get the style materials etc. or increase the price of style materials from the npc to balance this out. this way we have more options with the abundant amount of style materials.

    Umm whats the point in increasing hp by 0,02%? And that would be your proposed "incentive"?
    The thing is... We have enough balance issues atm. No need to add something extra.

    Cosmetics need to stay cosmetic. Costumes are meant to be fun! Not a requirement for min/maxing. I don't want our Nordic Bather Towel Trial runs to ruin anyone's build...

    I would love a way to convert one armor style into another on my crafter, though. Right now I love the way my healer works, so the Celestial/Xivkyn is meshing reasonably well together fortunately, but some of the other dropped sets are not so flattering.
