Group finder fix

Put an easy script in place, only allow 1 role to be selected, ignore anyone with impen. higher than 0, ignore anyone with less than 30k in primary stat. Simple fix.

All of my characters that I run dungeons with can do 2+ roles easily.

Seems pretty arbitrary. Why not training or prosperous? Traits do not make a player.

Neither of my tanks have more than 30k in any resource and I do just fine.

Have to agree with this guy on every point. I can run multiple roles on most characters as well.

Also, lol, Someone doesn't have BiS divines on everything so he wears on piece of impen and
Can no longer queue, but pulls 40k dps.

This is to address the current problems with group finder, mainly vet because normal is so easy pvp gear/build and snowflake builds don't matter in normal. On Vet gear/build with one main focus is ideal.

This fix would cause way more problems than it would solve.

If someone masquerades as a role they aren't prepared to fill just remove them from the group.

Group finder is not for ideal groups. Join a PvE guild if you want min/max builds in vet dungeons. Honestly I can usually carry groups of noobs through most non-DLC vet dungeons all on my own.

Consider using the group finder to be a challenge to up your game. Many vet dungeons can be solo'd, so if you're good with your build, rotation and reactions three noob players should not be too much of a hindrance (there are some fights, like Drodda, where they can be a liability though).

Group finder, finally after years, actually works. We do not need to restrict the pool of players it draws from and send it back into the non-functional state it was in for most of this game's life.

Sorry, but this is no fix, this is sh*t! A fix would be some kind of "training" or "certification" for a specific role and difficulty.

The drops in this game are ridiculous, blocking people for using impenetrable is going to keep many good players out of dungeons. (My tank still has impenetrable right now, for example. I only run normals with her for the moment, but she is going to be a beast in veteran once I finish setting her up).

My healer has been working on an alternative dps build for Maelstrom. She is pretty good at soloing normal dungeons in either setup (although the new one will be more powerful once I get enough practice), so I could double queue her as healer/dps if I wanted.

We picked up some great dps for the guild who queued as tanks for veteran pledges, too. They respecced to tank for the queue (and wore Ebon!) and did a very solid job of it.

The issue is not queuing a character for a different role, it's queuing for a role and then not doing it. Like the dual bow "healers" who don't even slot Vigor or the dps overtaunting the boss because "Tremorscale" or the 16k health tissue paper "tanks" who still die from kiting. Unfortunately aside from kicking I am not sure how to remove them from the queue without penalizing those who legitimately can and do perform the extra roles.
Why be normal when you can be better?

    Elissandra Ravenwing, Magicka Dragonknight Healer
    Lady Kalila, Stamina Templar DPS
    Stands-in-Danger, Nightblade Saptank
    Zalarah, Stamina Dragonknight DPS

Not saying people need BIS gear or 25k+ dps or anything like that, that would be pure guild run etc., but, inpen. serves absolutely 0 purpose in PvE and minimal effort is needed to break 30k in any given stat. That's all just the least amount of effort to focus on a role would be great.

People could be using the impenetrable trait because that's all they were able to find.

For example: I had to wear a pair of shoulders with impenetrable trait on them for quite some time because that's the only trait I was able to get on them.

Impen decreases repair cost by 50%. Few months ago, it was calculated that every dungeon run costs you around 900 gold in repairs. It is higher in PuGs with the extra deaths and end XP. Sorry I rather save 500 gold per run than get 5% extra damage.

Yeah, unfortunately I think this would cause more problems than solutions. I don't know anyone with more than 30k in any stat, impenetrable just needs to be fixed (not the dungeon system), and people get get enough skill points/bag space to make gear swapping a realistic way to perform multiple roles.

With the flexibility of the character building system in this game, I think the best compromise is making it so the players aren't penalized for being kicked.

That would probably be exploited by trolls, but most people that get kicked don't seem to be trolls, they're just not fulfilling the expectations of the group. No need to punish them for not understanding the mechanics, though, being kicked is obnoxious enough.

    Yes you are.
My Templar can tank or heal. She's tanked and healed trials.
My Magblade can heal or DPS (at the same time, even)
My sorc can heal or DPS
My DKs can mostly tank at the moment.
    My stamblade can DPS
    My stamsorc can DPS

Why shouldn't I queue for the roles that I'm able to perform with each character? And who are you to tell me that my Impen Kena shoulders are not good enough? It's my third pair, after all.
