Ebonheart Chateau is disappointing

ShadowHvo

Rundown list of house features (Unfurnished)

- Serenity Falls (AD Manor)
1. River
2. Pool
3. Waterfall
4. Additional Servant House
5. Stables
6. Balconies from the main building AND second.
7. Large Two Story Building
8. Yard

- Daggerfall Overlook (DC Manor)
2. MASSIVE Overlook over the Iliac Bay
3. Fountain
4. Stable
5. Big Barn
6. Castle has fitting room, 3 stories including the Cellar.
7. Unique special hideaway entrance to the sea below from the cellar.
8. Yard

- Ebonheart Chateau (EP Manor)
1. Yard
2. Four Trees
3. One Big 3 story House with only one seperate room in the cellar (Essentially all commen Dunmer manors.)
4. A Barn
5. Fountain

... Seriously Zenimax, as a Dunmer Loyalist, this is the most disappointing thing in Housing, not to mention that we didn't even get a proper cave home like the Dark Brotherhood cave.

Also, I would like to say that the Description for the Ebonheart Chateau is outright lying, the Watchtower is not even accessible, you can't even craft a staircase out of tables to reach it, and there is not even a well either.

Honestly, why does the Ebonheart Chateau not have AT LEAST the same features as the other homes? Or at least give it something unique, we don't even have a lava flood! You could even add a crypt to the back of the yard, that would be cool..

So AD is based on aesthetics, DC on utility, and EP on what might be left standing after a massive Nord party.

    Feels about right.

I agree. If I get EP chateau one day it will be only for the achievement. I didn't like it at all. Nothing unique nor original in it.

EP's don't need nice manors because they're too busy kicking DC and AD ass to bother spending time at home.

I'll probably stick to the large house in Riften. Of course, I'll have to buy the manors for the achievement, but all in due time.

This wouldn't be a issue if the house wasn't so costly but it is. It also doesn't make things better when in-game this house is the most expensive one. You'd think the most expensive manor would have the most luxury but it doesn't, infact it pales in comparison to the other manors such as Serenity Falls which is much cheaper, it even pales in comparison to Hunding's Palatial Hall when I think about it now too. You'd think that the most expensive manor would be something of value and have something that makes it stand out from the rest and be worth it's asking price and worthy of the title of the most valuable home. Yet the only thing I can see which could raise the cost of the home is the lava front property. I'll be honest here, i never knew that having such a thing in the elderscrolls was the most luxury of luxuries one can have. I might have to re-read the lore with this knowledge in mind. lol

Sorry to disagree with you, but Ebonheart Chateau's location in the middle of a lava flow is amazing enough for me to buy it over the other manors. Though you could argue its just the Mournhold large house + lava.

Can you guys please change the manor in a similar way you changed daggerfall overlook? I mean give it a accessible tower standing upon which I can look upon the ash and lava.

As it is right now you're limited to scaling some rocks in one corner of your small yard to actually get any meaningful view of this lava

I think access to the towers in the Chateau should definitely be a thing. The lack of any sort of Balcony is pretty disappointing too.

There's an unused doorway in the back of the courtyard, behind the manor that really should lead to something. Be that the walls, or some cave system. Either way, yeah I like it, but I'm underwhelmed.

It would be so bloody cool if that doorway could lead to a small Dunmer crypt, similar to the Indoril crypts in Davon's Watch, or any Dunmer crypt really.

Agree. And imo all 3 manors are pretty disappointing. Serenity falls is pretty much the same as Springs Demesne, and the DC manot, while having a view to the sea, pales in comparison with the Hunding's Palatial hall.

Not to speak of an ENTIRE island with free water access, boats, 3 houses, a massive lookout, a volcano and a whole beach for yourself. (Yes, the Tropical Island is in the Murkmire Argonian style)

As I said in v2.7.1 feedback thread I'm totally agree with @ShadowHvo !

Ebonheart Chateau is really below the two others manors. And it's even more true compared to the Hunding's Palatial Hall , which has a wide sandy beach , lighthouse , suspended terrace , balconies and greater outdoors.

To be attractive, the Ebonheart Chateau need -at least- a wide viewpoint of the sea and Ebonheart city, an access to the tower, and greater outdoor area (or a crypt :-P)

    Well, yeah?

Its pretty natural, I won't be buying the Ebonheart Chateau in its current state. I was super excited for it, yet I was so disappointed when I saw it on the PTS when it was compared to the other manors, it is simply lackluster for a lack of better words.

I am a huge Dunmer and Vampire fanboy, and I was super excited for a cave home similar to the Dark Brotherhood, yet thats not currently in existence, and then I set my sight on the next best thing, or rather, so I hoped.

Right now I am going with the Daggerfall Overlook instead, as it is far supreme features in comparison to the Ebonheart Chateau. The only thing that the Ebonheart Chateau got on the Overlook is one thing: ITS DUNMER!

But alas, thats not enough. It is luckily possible to make the Overlook appear as if it was in Morrowind, through lots of mushrooms and black spikes, which is my current plan for release.
