PTS Feedback Thread for Dragonknight Balance Improvements

    Sorry for Double, but if anyone cares, this is how I would fix magic DK.

    Buff Flame lash - Hey you got that one right! :smile: The buff didnt need to be huge, and I think this is just about right.

    Fix CDB - This could be done in many ways, but the way you chose aint one of them. It actively encourages poor resource management, which is just terrible. Removing the battlespirit effect to the original version would probably do the trick. You could also make it scale off of missing stats (all 3), or just scrap it and make it a basic BOL type heal. Literally anything is better than what you did. DKs need a simple and effective heal without any gimmicks.

    Make Burning Embers unpurgeable. A DK simply cant kill a templar or anyone running purge if they know what they are doing. This is also by far our best heal (as CDB sucks hard), so having someone remove it is twice as bad.

    Deep Breath - This skill is great, but it just needs a little buff. Slightly bigger heal and slightly more damage. I would like to see this scale up very fast as more and more enemies are hit. You want us to be tanks after all.

    Igneous Shield - This is another skill that just needs a small buff. Slightly bigger shield (doesnt need to be anulment levels) and slightly more stamina return (technically a passive buff).

    Ash Cloud - Just give us a reason to use this outside of a PVE DPS rotation. It is barely noticable in PVP. People should fear standing in this and now most dont even realize its on the ground. Bring this back to the glory days.

    As for other skills:

    Stop wasting your time with chains. As it doesnt freaking work half the time anyway, nobody uses this outside of PVE. The speed buff is meaningless and nobody is going to use it.

    Obsidain Shard - again, nobody uses this. The heal is a joke in PVP and why would I slot that when I can slot fossilize. Much better. This skill needs scrapped and redesigned IMO.

    ZOS. Look at how many have already dropped a formerly iconic DK skill from their bars even before they knew your plans to massively nerf it. You should be buffing it not nerfing it. How can you possibly justify nerfing it further and breaking sorc balance? Is there anything iconic left in this class that you have not destroyed or raided to give to another class? It feels like you have no passion for the dk.

    About PVP

    Move the expedition bonus from chains to wings. (optionally) Put again unlimited reflects to it for the 4 seconds (most of the old thing wings reflected are no reflectable anymore).

    About cDB, i kind of understand that you want to make the DK stronger the longer the fight, that fits into the initial class design, outlast his oponents in long fights BUT you miss 1 part of the equation, DK sustain was based around battle roar, that was designed with dynamic ultimate generation in mind.

    It would really help the class have some sort of pseudo dynamic ult generation, like gain 1 ultimate point/target hit by earthen hearth abilities or something similar, so the more players you fight, the stronger the DK becomes.

    I'm ok with NB being able to burst targets in 2 seconds, templars healing to full and cleansing or executing from 30m, sorcerers lining insane burst with delayed abilities and big ass shields. All classes must have an identity, give DK some of their former glory back, like being stronger the longer last fights and the more oponents they face. The reasons that made magDK vampires broken are long gone.

    • Obsidian Shard – Doubled the speed of the projectile.
    • Fiery Grip (and morphs) – This ability is no longer dodgeable. Also reduced the duration of the expedition buff by 2 seconds. (6s instead of 8s) Note: the damage portion of this ability can still be blocked.
    • Dragon Leap (and morphs) – This ability is no longer dodgeable. (it is an AOE after all). In addition we fixed an issue where the CC immunity while leaping was not being added correctly – you are now immune to all forms of CC, including roots while leaping. Note – players can still out range this ability while the DK is in the air if the DK leaps from max range and the player immediately runs away.

    As a note, we are still evaluating the changes to Coagulating Blood. We do hear your feedback on this ability and will continue to monitor it closely on PTS.

    By obsidian shard, you mean Stone Fist and morphs, right ?

    Let me get this right. Sorcs received a small nerf to their DPS burst, Vel Curse, then spent 17 pages bawling their eyes out about it, and finally you caved in and gave them back their burst skill, even added a nice little buff to it as well.

    In the meantime, mDKs, who were told we had some nice balancing buffs coming to us this update, got nothing substantial, hey, you even managed to nerf our already rediculously underperforming burst heal, aka dragonblood, even further than what could possibly be imagined - and even gave us a nice -5% blanket nerf to Banner damage and mitigation.

    Now you come here with some long overdue fixes and patches to a couple of skills that no one even bothers slotting at all, due to them being underperforming, underwhelming and underpowered. And that's it?

    Forgive me if I come across rather ungrateful and offended. I can assure you it is because I am indeed those things, considering what utter load of BS you're offering us this update, and even have the audacity of calling it a balancing update.
    A joke would be a more apt name for this, and hey, that also fits very nicely with your upcoming Jester's Day festival. Guess we can dress up all mDKs in jester costumes and send us dancing and skipping across the fields, cause lord knows that's the only thing we're good for anymore.

    Depends. Name one other class skill that can interrupt a Radiant spammer at full distance, stop a rez at range, ranged knock down a target about to kill your teammate or use to catch fleeing prey? It's pretty useless solo, but it can be a good support skill. It's kinda the DK version of javelin.

    @ZOS_RichLambert Hmmm... can I hope that you are using existing gap closer code, and now chains will work even if there happens to be a tiny bump on the group? That we can gap close to the top of a boulder or on a hill? Because if Chains will actually WORK reliably now... that in itself would be a huge buff.

    It's useless when all you want to do is damage. Imagine if incap strike. soul tether or dawnbraker gave that shield. Dragon leap is meant to do burst damage. Not defend us. Which I dont think anyone wants. Look at it this way. You got hit for 7800 non-crit by a guy in heavy armor(minimal spell pen) and you have, according to your screenshot, 23k spell resist. What would leap do to a squishier target coming from a guy in LA. And if it crits? It will be significantly more. Is it justified to buff leaps damage then? Add the fact it gives a damage shield for 50% of your health and has a relatively low cost.

    Sooooo....Sorc's bring to your attention the DPS nerf they got to curse and you reward them with a massive buff that doubles their DPS with the ability. Meanwhile mDK's have brought to your attention that we cannot heal for over a year now and we get these changes, the Leap one being the best of them all, plus an "EHHHH, we might fix Coag Blood..."

    Yeah, the incentive to run Reflective Scales is almost entirely null at this point. What does it do consistently anymore? If you're lucky it will reflect a Frag if you time well, or maybe a Snipe if it doesn't glitch out.

    Maybe it's time to bring back unlimited reflects, considering it only lasts for 4 seconds, is very expensive, and can no longer reflect a variety of RANGED DAMAGE like it's supposed to (meteor, force pulse, all ranged channels...).

    I dont get this "myth" about reflect not working at all ...

    I can stand almost indefinitely on "the bridge" below the tower spamming scales/harness, if I dont make a mistake 10/15 people wont be able to kill me, and I ll kill quite a few bowtards that dont know better.

    But if Wings dont reflect pulse anymore am done ...

    We just need to keep hammering, blow up this thread with what we know and want changed like for example I desperately want Flames of Oblivion to come back without the negative effects unless they wanna put that on sorcerers too.

    The new flames of Oblivion should increase DoT damage by x % or increase ardent flame abilities by X percent but it should also be max resource scaled.

    Dragons blood would be much better if it scaled off of max health around 35-40% starting (without buffs or CP) this would perform optimal even with battle spirit being applied.

    But please I've been stressing this since sorcerers stole our ability GIVE US BACK FLAMES OF OBLIVION!!

    If they don't want to put a base heal on Dragon's Blood, PLEASE at least have Coag do a purge at low health, such as 1 negative effect for each 10% lower than 60%. It fits the name better.

    i'll worry about our dragon blood and other abilities when i know we have 1 new kill mechanic. I cant stand only being able to tank anymore. Its not fun. I play games for fun.

    Video showcasing the consequence of the and imbalance created by nerfing reflect.

    Here is one of the tournaments on the EU servers from the end of September. I don't know these people but I assume they are good because there is usually a buy in to these tournaments. This is without infernal guardian mortars, and without the removal of beams from DK wings. (Note: Despite all the mDK #1, I see very few in these tournament videos. )

    Fast forward to the fight at 31 minutes. (fight ends in a draw when the siege shield goes up behind blobskys UI)

    So imagine that fight with even cheaper encase, + mortars + force shock, +8% increased single target damage all while you try to just reach the sorc. Rip any semblance of balance.

    Look at one of the comments...

    "I wish they would make a rule, that forbids wings and mines in a Sorc vs. DK fight. That's the fairest for both sides. Though as you can see, mines don't harm the DK at all. So this rule would only benefit Sorcs. " This is from someone that sometimes judges these tournaments.

    (Note: Mines are not doing damage because the DK is playing very defensively considering all the has to move through just to reach the shields, let alone get through them. They hurt very hard if you don't have the mitigation, and if you gap close through them you can pop everyone of them at once. )

    • Fiery Grip (and morphs) – This ability is no longer dodgeable. Also reduced the duration of the expedition buff by 2 seconds. (6s instead of 8s) Note: the damage portion of this ability can still be blocked.
    • Dragon Leap (and morphs) – This ability is no longer dodgeable. (it is an AOE after all). In addition we fixed an issue where the CC immunity while leaping was not being added correctly – you are now immune to all forms of CC, including roots while leaping. Note – players can still out range this ability while the DK is in the air if the DK leaps from max range and the player immediately runs away.

    As a note, we are still evaluating the changes to Coagulating Blood. We do hear your feedback on this ability and will continue to monitor it closely on PTS.

    Let me get this right. Sorcs received a small nerf to their DPS burst, Vel Curse, then spent 17 pages bawling their eyes out about it, and finally you caved in and gave them back their burst skill, even added a nice little buff to it as well.

    In the meantime, mDKs, who were told we had some nice balancing buffs coming to us this update, got nothing substantial, hey, you even managed to nerf our already rediculously underperforming burst heal, aka dragonblood, even further than what could possibly be imagined - and even gave us a nice -5% blanket nerf to Banner damage and mitigation.

    Now you come here with some long overdue fixes and patches to a couple of skills that no one even bothers slotting at all, due to them being underperforming, underwhelming and underpowered. And that's it?

    Forgive me if I come across rather ungrateful and offended. I can assure you it is because I am indeed those things, considering what utter load of BS you're offering us this update, and even have the audacity of calling it a balancing update.
    A joke would be a more apt name for this, and hey, that also fits very nicely with your upcoming Jester's Day festival. Guess we can dress up all mDKs in jester costumes and send us dancing and skipping across the fields, cause lord knows that's the only thing we're good for anymore.

    It boggles my mind how it can be this hard for Zenimax to implement improvements. It's not even like they don't know what they should be doing, they literally said that this was going to be the patch to fix mDKs. Yet none of the changes they stated have actually done a damn thing for improving the class. Just listen to the god damn players for once, and stop trying to implement these monkey-ass changes to the abilities that you pulled out of a hat.

    Meanwhile, the most consistent, meta, god-I-wish-mained-this-***-instead, class in the game gets an actual legitimate buff.

    Ffs at this thread. Mdks are fine and there are plenty of buffs coming. A month after the next update the forum will be full of people complaining about mdks.

    i think everybody is too wrapped up in obsidian shard being blockable. The morphs of this move are good....i consistently get 7-9k damage with stone Giant morph when it cc's and ive milked up to a 9k heal out of the other morph when i used to use it.

    this move is fine and it hits pretty hard. mix it with a 6k flame lash and an 8k powerlash and you get solid burst dmg without even using an ult....i swear ppl be condemning moves they haven't even tried to use once.


    "inhale>stone giant>flame lash(exhale)>power lash" will kill anybody that isnt a full on tank....i dont need a 20k leap to create burst that already exists. 16k is just perfect

    i also belive it will be stronger than that, my tooltip now pre-patch UNBUFFED is 12k.

    12000+%7(dark elf)=12840

    12840+%6(flame AOE)=13610.5

    13610+%25(Elemental Expert)=17,013.1

    17013.1+%20(major sorcery)=20,415.72


    keep in mind that this is BEFORE burning spellweave procs.

    If they implemented the changes the players wanted this game would be a disaster. There are people in this thread that actually said whip needs a 30% damage buff rofl.

    Yes, you can rule out when one person has an unreasonable suggestion. However, there are extremely common trends that have gotten repeated over and over again for months now. When thouslands of players all share a common idea, it's probably worth listening too. Here are just a few of them:

    -Inferno needs to be an AoE again
    -Dragon Blood needs to be a HoT or atleast viable heal
    -Magika costs are too high
    -Stonefist, Ash Cloud, and now Scales are absolutely useless

    now if we do the math;

    14876+%7=15917.32
    15917.32+%6=16872.3592
    16872.3592+%25=21,090.499

    thats 21.1k leap

    my stam dk has a 23k leap....

    Your maths is wrong

    Major sorcery doesn't increase your total dmg by 20%, it increases your spell dmg by 20%.

    So before you do anything use major sorcery and take that number.

    Then times that number by 1.38 (38% increase)
