Although housing will be a great addition, for me personally, if there is no new area with a fairly sizable quest line, the game for me is pretty much over, i don't feel the need to do anymore at present and i am just doing some of the small achievements listed, but this gets very very boring after a while.

i have supported the game since day one(ps4) by subbing, but if the only thing were going to get is housing in the next update my sub will stop, housing isnt enough on its own to keep people happy for 3 months.

Anyway i hope you all have a great evening wherever you are and happy new year.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

The next year will be critical for the game I'd think. They need to release trials or new endgame content for that player base. They need to release PvP content like battlegrounds and arena or some type of instance PvP. If they do a poor job or don't add enough content people will leave to play other games it's been a long wait on any new content.

I feel like I'm the only one on these forums who's about to vibrate into another dimension with excitement at housing. Everyone is just chomping at the bit for a new landmass or a new dungeon so they do all the quests and get all the gear in two weeks, and I'm over here thinking about how much time I'm going to spend buying and decorating houses. Housing is months of content if you're into it at all. Literally months.

All they need now is a major update to clean up the questing, lore, and manage their in-game books a little better, and this game will be exactly where I always wanted it to be. After Vvardenfel? Pffft. Kill me and I'll die happy. (In game. Don't kill me in real life)

The original post sounds like the introduction of a powerpoint presentation to a meeting of shareholders and investors...

It seems to me, OP, that the "glory" of the game is what you make of it - why should you be worried about other people's views if you're enjoying your ESO gaming time? What else matters?

If you're enjoying the game, then the odds are that you're not alone, and that the game does have a future.
If you're not, then play something else - no need to worry about the future of a game you no longer like...

Hah, have an awesome for making me smile with the vibrate into another dimension with excitement line :)

Not quite that excited, but looking forward to it certainly. I'd be quite a bit happier if I thought you would be able to hang all your fish trophies, and that they all looked different. I figure instead of that they'll let you buy one for each region. One day.

To me, the golden age of this game ran from Orsinium to Dark Brotherhood. The balance was okay, things were reletively balanced from a PVE perspective, and ZOS knew what audience it wanted to target.

That's gone. I'm hoping that update 13 fixes alot of issues, but I doubt it. I simply do not have faith in the ZOS dev team that is obvious so disconnected from the playerbase it is attempting to serve, on an endgame level.

this game was better before CP came out, now we have high damage stam builds, insane proc sets, awful dlc, overpriced content, server performance, load screens, 2 classes lacking mobility and have crap dps, udates which brings 2 or more bugs/issues, constant disconnects, awful lag, unbalanced game play between classes.

unfortunately nothing in ESO is fluid except the lag.

2014 seemed it was a better year for ESO.

Yeah no, this game hasn't had glory days yet. We've been living a long term of "at least it's pretty good" times and "oh, well that's not very gamebreaking at least" times. The only way this game's glory days are in the past, are if you only play dragonknight ever and like steamrolling or the servers literally go off before it gets any better.

The game is still young compared to most other big name mmo's but if zos does not get on the ball and put some effort into the game, and bring in some major content, QOL, things that are missing, get cheaters out of the game, I am afraid eso will just be on a slow spiral to the toilet and it's better days would be behind us, but there is still a glimmer of hope if zos wants to keep this game going and making money.

Has there really ever been a golden era during this game's life cycle? There's always been ups and downs. I remember waiting 10mins for loading screens after they screwed it up after an update, I also remember the game being atrocious when it first launched on consoles and so on.

For those with an axe to grind, it's the end of days and that's always been the case.

The current state of PvP is the only major, major ballache. *IF* they ever manage to fix it, it will be something else.

I think the game has been mishandled from the start, its the current MMO trend that seems to be the most profitable and marketable. Release with sub base, transition to free to play, eventually make it pay to win.

It has become acceptable from the gaming community that these trends continue. Truthfully, I do not like the way ESO was built despite trying to give it my best attitude, I think ESO should have been in the hands of people who actually care about the game and just do not seem to care about pleasing their overlords with revenue.

I question the amount of passion the developers have for the game and the gaming industry, not just in it because it is a big industry and it makes money that combines well with their talents.

There are things, still broken and not functioning with the game despite it going into its third year since launch. There are just fatale design flaws and Band-Aid fixes from the devs that just blatantly expose the fact that they bought use of another engine which they do not have any clue how to use instead of building their own engine.

The game sacrificed to much in terms of core mechanic and gameplay for aesthetics, I do not care about the latest market trends on how much x makes money; free to play sinks games as with the markets that follow them. Free to Play is a signal that a game was being developed by passionate people and then they got fired in order to turn it into a cash machine.

I feel that aesthetics and things like mounts, gear, costumes, all belong in the game. Nothing belongs in the cash shop, absolutely nothing.

I also feel like ESO escapes the meat and taters of the game, gearing should not be the end game, it should be swift to out fit their character to get into the fight.

There is no fight in ESO, just zergs and empty keep battles. Nothing epic because the castles and land cannot be maintained, they just constantly switch on a dime.. That is boring to me. There was no long term plan for ESO, its clear that they keep making *** up as they go to keep the hungry no lifers sustained.

Putting the best gear behind huge dungeons is the dumbest *** any MMO dev could ever do, because it trivializes the core game in favor of people who will stick around and get the best gear and roll with the latest *** ups (meta). Instead of players who want to build their character down to the last detail and be competitive.

Honestly, it doesn't matter how many dungeons they release, eventually it becomes a recycled idea. With that said, I do not have the patience to sit here and play grindville for 6 hours just to get a piece of gear that outclasses everything else. I do not have the patience to sit here and grind Champion Points and gold just to buy gear and pieces made required to succeed in PvP.

I want gear that lets me pick from a list of stats and attributes that I name, not anyone else, I do not need the devs to produce gear for me, I need the devs to produce a cool vanity system and an array of options, so I can combine them to have the toolkits which allows me to wreak havoc and kill other players.

-I love Elder Scrolls, but ESO the ES universe is not the same
-I hate preset gearsets, I would like to design my own.
-2 piece undaunted was the worst implementation ever, everything should be player controlled
-I hate smart missiles, smart heals, and any variance of tab target
-Game should have been seamless a true open world experience
-Faction based systems without a nuclear option suck

in my experience, most of the time the "glory days" of anything correlate more with "ambiguous nostalgia for when I was unaware my environment wasn't there to flatter me" than "an actual time when things were better for everyone."

this holds true for your grandpa's confusion about the 1960s as much as it does for dissatisfaction about the state of a MMORPG.

    Don't agree with this.

"The old days" are measurably better in some aspects. Not all, to be sure, but some.

This holds true for both ESO and your 1960s snark.

For example, ESO population and performance in PvP was much stronger near launch. ESO "raiding" was more active upon initial release of the craglorn dungeons.

Sure, ESO has tons more content now. The point is to recognize those things which cause the nostalgia.

Seeing all the players doing New Life Festival quests and all the new crown store stuff players are buying pretty much shows the "glory" days is still moving along. And a vast majority of those players have never visited this forum.

If you're do both PVE and PVP, work 40 hours a week, married and have kids, or have a busy life outside of the game, then this game is HUGE. I've been playing since PS4 launch and still haven't finished everything because I play only a couple of hours a day after work, and I switch between PVE and PVP when one gets boring.

I bought Overwatch and Battlefront because of Black Friday deals, but I get bored of the constant shooting and no real story. I lasted 3 months with Destiny. Loved it, but it got redundant.

    Facts:
    1. Originally a sub based game, that went to b2p
    2. they didnt have a 'real' plan for end game, remember Cadwell's gold & the VR ranks
    3. their 'adventure' zone turned into the biggest flop
    4. They needed a cash shop
    5. they added cash crate gambling
    6. we still only have 4 trials, and other then pvp, there is nothing that needs more then a 4 man party,
    7. there is barely a skeleton UI, so it creates a dependency on volunteer third party addon developers.

The definition of what ESO's glory days depends on personal preference, but from a business perspective i would think so.

they're just not adding the big "WOW' factor
('wow as in amazing, not the other game)

    Pretty much this^^^

I personally find it hilarious that the whinetatstic hate machine (which consist of about 15 or 20 people) continually makes threads like this, in hopes of perpetuating the ESO is dying/dead myth.

Idiots like this have tried the exact same thing with games like LOTRO, SWTOR, DDO, Neverwinter, EQII, GW2, and just about every other MMo that is still around and still profitable despite armchair developers, claiming it's dead.

One of the most hilarious prediction quotes of 2017 came from the queen supreme idiot Bree Royce from Massivley OP
    and I quote:

"SWTOR will continue to be profitable in 2017 but mmo vets won't be fooled."

What in the hell does that even mean? A game is profitable or it isn't... who gives a flying Nickleback album what virginal neck beards think?

The stupid surrounding threads like this and from the supposed gaming press is so thick that you can cut it with a knife and crap like this is why people make fun of gamers.
