How do you feel about the lack of Cooldowns in this game?

That no spell outside of Ultimates has a Cooldown is one of the biggest difference between ESO and other MMORPGs...
In every other game, an Ability has either a cast time or a Cooldown to limit how you can spam it, but in ESO, only a handfull of spells actually have a cast time, and only Ultimates could be considered to have anything like a Cooldown.

What is your opinion about it, in PvE and PvP.

I still think its strange.
I mean... I love the game, sure, but all that spamming still feels weird.

On the other hand, there are no cooldowns on loading screens in PvP. Also, every single loading screen is pure lottery, since it is easy to get unending one pretty easy.

The absence of cooldowns works fine for the most part. BUT we do need more anti-spam mechanics like what dodgeroll and Streak have (cough*gapclosers*cough*BoL*cough*Cloak*cough*wings*cough).

I love it. Combat is much faster and more active compared to other MMOs because of the lack of cooldowns.

The fast paced, no cooldown combat is the main reason I love ESO. The core design of the combat system is great in my opinion.

Well you cannot spam abilities indefinitely without going out of resources first of all. Then it's not, in most cases, the most effective method to spam. If nothing else you should be weaving to get the most benefit.

Eso is not like other mmos. Other mmos have auto attacks and you point, click and yawn while your character does all the fighting and you wait for the cooldowns to end. Eso is more visceral as everything is instant, just like action and fps games. If you want slow tactical cooldown mouse click autoattack games play wow

Basically this. I love this game for that.

I love the no cool downs , da inquisition had a good magic system but the cool downs ruined it for me , resource management systems are the best plus you still have to manage your dot timers for optimised dps, plus proc's and synargies to consider , there's enough there to keep you occupied

No cooldowns and the Champion System must make balancing an absolute nightmare for game designers (for some OP skills like Bolt Escape they had to add a mechanic similar to a cooldown; non-dynamic ult gain now is almost the same as having cooldowns on ultimate abilities).

Edit: Also, there is a global cooldown for skill-use (the delay from when you use any skill until you can use any skill again) of a bit more than a second if I'm not mistaken.

Edit 2: One consequence of ESO's combat system is that there is only one skill that's best to weave with on most builds (for PvE). The rest is pretty much dots you reapply when they run out or buffs/debuffs. Same for AoE, there's one spammable AoE (Steel Tornado or Sap Essence for example), the rest are dots or buffs/debuffs. Cc abilities are almost useless in PvE now (most enemies that pose a real threat are immune to cc).

Edit 3: Personally, I would like to be able to slot more skills and have cooldowns on skills, but I know that's not going to happen because of Skyrim and consoles :)

The lack of cooldowns is a VERY GOOD thing. I hope they don't ever change that. Combat is fun and exciting with the lack of cooldowns.

Only cooldown needed is snare. Snare takes the *** and just enrages me so much. Even after you've killed something. ..still snared.

This is the GREAT part about ESO's combat system. There is no cool down because you have finite resources that will limit you. It's really fun the way it is IMO. I use a combination of abilities and don't spam (most of the time).

    I love it.

I hated arbitrary cooldowns in other games. Hell even ultimate 'cooldowns' can be manipulated by gear or class abilities. Keeping us in control.

I dont like the idea of a cooldown on gap closers. They have their issues but that needs to be fixed by how they act, not by cool down. Cool down would really kill melee when its already easier to sit back at range.

I think it would have worked better if resource caps, reduction, regeneration/management in general weren't all over the place since release.

Since you can manipulate these attributes so much it'd be kinda like a cooldown-based MMO giving you the ability to decrease 2-minute+ abilities to 30-seconds across the board. Resources are the only throttle a no-cooldown system has. IMO, it would have been better to add more attributes to do other things and leave resource attributes static.

That's why I think it was wise to add resource-sapping poisons, considering the rest of the game.... but ZOS certainly isn't making balancing any easier on themselves.
Something being unbalanced in 1v1 does not imply that it is balanced in group play.

    I think it's great.

I also think it would have been cool if there was an effectiveness reduction for all abilities in the game. Something like after hitting an ability it is 10% less effective for the next 3 seconds, and if you hit it again in the next 3 seconds it becomes 20% less effective for the next 3 seconds etc...

This would have prevented any single ability from becoming the "spam" ability in any particular setup, and would have forced harder choices for what abilities make it on to your bar.

Cooldowns are great for games like WoW where you stand still and pummel the other guy with your five or six abilities in a boring repetitive cycle.

ESO relys on the player to be active and moving. Dodging and actively blocking while being ever so aware of their resources. Cooldowns would severely cripple the gameplay.
