Please dont make houses cheap or easy.

Yeah, the small starting house shouldnt be super hard, but also not too easy.

And for later houses, make people work for them.
Big houses or even mansions should be an achievement. And I am not just talking about grinding money.
Make them need ressources to be build, we have wood, we have Ores, So make people actually build their houses.

Please dont just make it "Pay X Gold, get a house".
The big ones should be work, I am talking about daily quests and ressource gathering.

The houses are already built, they're in the game now. It'd make no sense to make you provide the materials to build them.

Work and easy are both relative terms. For me, easy is 2 or 3 million gold. I play 50+ hours some weeks so work for me would be hundreds of hours of game time. Should they balance it against these sort of players and more casuals are just never getting a house?

If you'd like to suggest certain thresholds, feel free to list some concrete numbers other than relative terms like "easy" and "work" because I don't know what those terms mean to anyone other than myself.

We'll be using wood and so on to FURNISH the houses, correct? (Assuming you bought them with gold.) So there's your material cost.

Yeah. Homes will probably be gold and crowns. But I've got a strong feeling there's gonna be a HUGE resource burn for furnishings. Think cp160 gear. Probably even require gold mats

yeah, this it very encouraging to me!
Especially if the Crafters are making the important furniture, getting what you want when you want will be a challenge, and a whole other level of resource gathering and work and in game money.

& what about the DYES? if I have the rarest ones will I be able to make & sell the bed with the blankets dyed?
that could make the end costs of finished furniture very speculative & subjective!

I'm hoping some of the high end furniture does have a hefty crafting cost. If everything costs 100g in mats, there will be no market for cool looking stuffs and not much point in crafting it when it costs so little anyway. ZOS spent time on a system that allows you to craft funishings for others and post them for sale. It wouldn't make much sense if everyone can just very easily make their own. I'd expect the crown store to also play a role in many items as well.

Now see, that would be cool! They'll probably run that idea through the money machine though somehow. New furnishing patterns (instead of dyes) that you have to pay for in crowns...omg, I'll shut up now.

I don't see housing as an interesting quest line . What would be the purpose of locking houses behind big quests ? You can't sell them to other players . The logic of defeating some hideous daedric prince for realistate eludes me . It's a house in an established kingdom .

my wife and i live a life of stealing and killing for the dark brotherhood and thieves guild.
our lifestyle is spent 100% of the time in sneak and hiding, so we need a home that is hidden away from the law, guards, and people.
so we ask, please give us a small hidden trap door [placed on the edge of town, under the bushes] that leads to a small 1 or 2 room cave with wood walls and floor for me and the wife would be Perfect!
i don't want a huge house and something small is affordable for my wife and i because we spend all our time in pvp means we only have around maybe 50 to 100,000 to spend, [not millions, like for the large houses]
me and my wife's lifestyle in eso fits perfectly in a very small underground hidden home.
thank you for reading this message.
located on the edge of town in preferably "Balmora" Vvardenfell location.
if Vvardenfell cannot be had right now then i prefer Dahlmora edge of town in Bal foyen

It'd be kinda cool if they added a room in the Outlaw Refuge in all the capitals. Yeah? Amenities and such close by. Could require Legerdemain max level to unlock the option.

No grinding or endless dailies; that would be horrible. I think crafting for furnishing is enough too. That said, I would like if you had to do a regional quest to sort of earn the right to purchase property in the area. A bit like how you have to become a thane in Skyrim to get a house.

Going by my experiences with FF14, I expect that if ZOS does make unique crafted stuff for houses, it'll all be locked in Dungeons and you would need to complete the dungeon and compete with more BS RNG to get the material to actual make that item.

Want a White Gold Throne? You need 7 White Gold Stones and 3 Gold Nuggets that randomly drop off Molag Kena in WGT
Want Blackheart's Treasure Trove? You need 5 Chest locks and 5 Chest boxes from Captain BlackHeart.

The crafting material would probably be BoP but the crafted item itself could be sold to other players.

More mindless grinding to pan out the wait time until actual playable content was released in Update 14.

I do hope the largest houses cost a minimum of 1mil gold. As stated, providing resources for the houses doesn't make sense since the are already built, but we should get a resource burn in the form of furniture. Also, I believe I read that you ill have to do certain quests to buy the houses; I don't think new quests, but some of the zone quests that already exist.

On a related note, I think it would be cool if you were required to know the full motif to create a furniture item of that style. My understanding is that most if not all of the current styled items are from the main races, so this would be relatively easy for now, but hopefully in the future we can make something like a glass wardrobe.

As I understand it, yes, there's an achievement tied to buying houses in zones that is related to the quests in that zone. We don't know which one specifically, but they have stated that this is how it works.

As for housing cost, I'm pretty sure the large houses will cost quite a bit, but the smaller ones really shouldn't cost much IMO. You don't want to price everybody out of it who hasn't already been at the game for over a year and has stockpiles of cash that they don't know what to do with.

For some players, if you price the big houses at 500k, they wouldn't blink. They could just go around, snarfing those up. A lot of players? Most players, probably, will never have that kind of cash at all. For them, asking 25k for small ones would probably put them out of their price range.
