ZOS, why will you nerf speed damage? What about leaderboards/records?

Proc sets will be nerfed, right?

So, what happens with those players competing for all-time records within Leaderboards (real record contests encouraged by ZOS), guild contests for all-time records, real world records runs in NA and Europe servers, and other speed/points records?

After Update 13 the player that had the highest record (before Update 13) will be unreachable in world leaderboards, guild internal contests, etc. because NO ONE will then be able to do damage as fast as before because proc sets will not crit anymore and so you will deliver less damage, therefore, it will take more time to complete the content (ie: vet Maelstrom Arena).

How can you reach a world record (or directly the all-time top spots) that was achieved when DPS players did more damage using proc sets that crit?

Or am I completely wrong and there is something I am missing?

Thanks.

As far as I know, they usually reset the leaderboards after significant balance changes or bug fixes.

I mean all-time world records, guild contests for best all-time records, etc., not weekly, monthly temporary records.

Everything will be reset and the new season will start. Whoever held records before the update will always hold them in that "season". Nothing new, really.

There is something called "All-time" record, that doesn't work like a "Season" record, and "All-time" records CAN'T be reset.

Yes, you are missing something, the rest of the patch notes. For all we know they will increase the CP cap next update. I'm kind of expecting it.

They have reset the leaderboard "all time" scores a good few times now. Sure, Streak's 600k vma score will be remembered and is probably stored in screenshots here and there, but you will still be able to take the #1 position since the leaderboard currently holding the score will be reset.

Speaking for our guild which has the all-time record for everything except vDSA, we don't really care about all-time records for just this reason.

Meta changes, CP changes, so all that's really relevant is the record in the current CP "season", all-time records are irrelevant.

This isn't ZOS's problem tbh. Whoever's keeping the record could easily say "well this was achieved on patch xx.xx which involved the usage of xxx and xxx, which were deemed broken and promptly nerfed."

That makes no sense, because new gear sets are being released. Your all-time record will be beat soon then.

Also, it's your personal problem if you care about that record etc. There's no such thing in the game and therefore you shouldn't expect zos to care about it.

Have these leaderboards factored in patch numbers? For this very reason, scores are segregated by patch number as player ability in absolute terms fluctuates between patches.
