• PC/Mac: No maintenance – May 4

Dear ESO, what is your plan.

Last year I was bored with the game. I took a 6 month break and played BDO. BDO was not boring, but was a fulltime job so I went back to ESO. Then I loved ESO again.

Just take a break and come back after 5-6 months.

I must admit I am bored again though, but that is mainly because PvP is not that fun anymore.

But after I move to my new house next week, I plan my first alt (already created and just left cold harbor prison) to do all quests again. So I will be occupied doing that until the next update hits.

I do love player housing, but it adds little content to keep people happy on a long term. Housing should be part of a major quest series/new area.

Anyway, I hope 2017 will be a great year for ESO. If I hear "Vvardenfell", "clockwork city" etc, I get shivers on my spine and really hope it will come very soon.

Also, One tamriel was a great idea, I really love it. Except the proc sets and weapon ultimates.

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Impatient? What? LOL. It's people like you; apathetic roadblocks, that're the reason the gaming industry has been treating it's customers like sh*t/ATMs and getting away with it.

Spellcrafting? Years overdue with NO ETA.
Justice system? Over a year late and gutted of features.
Expanded potion and poison crafting? Over a year late.
Bug-fixes? Months delayed, some have been in the game since LAUNCH.
-SNIP- TG and DB were supposed to be content we got 6 months after launch.

Impatient? Are you kidding me? This community is, if anything, TOO patient.
We wait and wait and wait and all we get is a progressively more greedy and insipid cash system rapidly monetizing everything they possibly can while still barely trickling out content.

Develop your own game or play something else if it bothers you so much.

What kind of response is that? Dude were the consumers... Its not our jobs to create video games. We use our hard earn money from the current career that were in now to purchase these games to give us well desired entertainment. If we acted like you and just go play something else nothing would be improved. In fact gaming companies would have a hard time communicating with their costumers (Us) due this kind of mentality of giving up on them so easily by ditching the game, and go else where.

ZOS is fricken lucky to have players like us to point out the flaws within their games. It is their responsible to take notice, and probably fix some of the flaws.

Lol this is by far the thinnest I've ever seen a mmo run on content and still keep the doors open. Seriously ever AAA mmo release to date. By three years has had two full blown xpacs with level cap in creases. Multiple layers in alternate advancement , at least 12 new instances for single groups and at the very least 5 new raids By this point. Get like EQ2 had 3 full blown expansions new class and several game enhancing systems . As well as 3 dlc's on top of their expacs. Rift was a small studio with not even a third of the capital Zos had and they gave away more content in a year then zos has sold in 3

    Have you played DCUO?

We know zos had multiple DLCs ready even back in 2014, now why they release at such slow pace is beyond me.

One Tamriel wasn't a feature, addition or anything worth calling DLC, it was just a CORRECTION of their poor game design.
Do i need to remind everyone here how group questing was handled here in the beggining? Each member of the group had to do his own version of the quest and objectives wouldnt progress for everyone, it was a mess.

So there you are... they needed to fix the problem of end game areas not scalled to max level, they needed to fix their empty maps, they needed to fix the problem where you and your friends couldnt play together being in different factions and much more.

BOSS -"Hey lets add new rushed sets, primitive dueling system and some new skills so we get an excuse to fix all this mess we made and then we have 8 months to release something truly new"

DEV -"Boss, there are some maps without dolmens where people cant get jewelry".

BOSS -"Dont worry, lets just release it like this, they can open 1200 chests daily and do just fine with blue rings".

DEV -"Boss, chances of getting weapons are ridiculous compared to armor and jewelry, being in dungeons or maps".

BOSS -"LMAO, I know, it doesnt matter, we need more time to implement crown crates, lets distract them with something".

    Just the opposite, in fact.
ZOS only takes care of two factors : hours played (because it creates game population and ingame socially-driven activities) and money spent by customers (because it's their income).
By complaining BUT still playing the game or/and spending money on it, you're sending to ZOS the message that everything is fine and nothing needs to change.
Go play something else is the only way, as a customer, to send the message that things need to change and that you're not happy with the game.

    There is no plan.

Okay, maybe there is, but they don't make their plans public anymore.
They used to, way back right after release, where they showcased PvP Justice, Spellcrafting and other ideas that were worked on at that time.
There have obviously been some changes in managements and studio size since then, so their itinerary got changed, and all those "in the works" announcements backfired because they were no longer on the priority list, or scrapped altogether.

I believe they have "learned from their mistakes" and they will no longer provide any insight to what we can expect further than the next update.
Heck, it took them long enough to publish ANY information about the forthcoming update. Up until recently, they hid information about it as a snake hides it's legs.

At the beginning of 2016, a dev said in an interview that ZOS had reviewed their content release schedule and decided to scrap the majority of the large content patches, and all content in future would be released in "bite-size" patches, where theres enough content to keep someone happy for a few weeks, then they can leave and come back at a future date.

I dont see a huge lack of content. I DEFINITELY dont see it as having the thinnest amount of content in any top end MMO. I'd say content thus far is EASILY on par with that Snowstorm game the bulk of you folk seem to have come from at the same point in its life cycle (keep in mind the first expansion for that game didnt come til more than two years after launch).

What I DO see? Efforts to make the world a LARGER place, rather than smaller, which happens too often in other MMO. I see proactive development, and devs who seem to be genuinely trying to improve the game, which is encouraging. I see non stop bitching from a small but very vocal part of the community who seem to want at every turn to morph this game into a pathetic carbon copy of the crappy MMO they left to play this one (never understood that logic). I see steady implementation of small amounts of new content rather than huge, massive, bug laden expansions that promote a frenzy of new and returning players when released only to dwindle lower than before a month or two later.

Look, there are things about this game that frustrate me (lack of a good storyline, quests that seem pointless, poor communication from development to name a few). But all in all the game's a HELL of a lot better than most I have seen at this point in their life cycle.
The opinions of others should always be heard, especially if they dont agree with your own! But you always reserve the right to laugh at them.

Go play something else is the only way, as a customer, to send the message that things need to change and that you're not happy with the game.

Did you see ZOS take the initiative to fix some the bigger problems like:
    • getting kicked out of a group the moment you join the instance and receiving the 15min penalty
    • the fact that a dps can queue as a tank/healer in the group finder without any checks being done
    • the character window where you are flooded with meaningless ratings and only the crit chance is displayed an actual percentage
    • no proper tutorial
    • 1T and I still can't start the main quest and mage/fighters guild quest lines in other starting areas different from my characters alliance but I can still quest in every zone
    • etc

Visit one of the threads about people getting kicked without exchanging a single word and thus being forced to wait the 15min to queue again and you'll (maybe) see 1 official response: a notice from a mod that several post have been moderated due to -insert random justification-.
That's all you get from ZOS even if you provide feedback supported by facts.

If you're cost-conscious like me you purchased the gold edition and nothing else. That money is amortized on my side by playing for ~1-2 month.
Playing further than that and ZOS doesn't earn a single dime more from me - even if I have weeks of /played.

Playing something else as a means to force ZOS to do something won't work:
    • I reckon only a fraction of the players actually bother to read and post on this forum
    • You can't force people to actually abandon the game hoping it will get better
    • ZOS doesn't even listen to feedback on this forum - do you believe they care if people abandon ship?

Actually none of the things that you listed as "bigger problems" are problems for me. Either I think they're good things, or they're minor inconveniences that don't bother me. I like the grouping tool penalty, I like that DPS are able to queue as tanks or healers, I think the tutorial is fine, etc.

I don't want to force people to leave the ship, I'm just saying that staying AND complaining is an attitude that mainly shows that you'll stay no matter what - thus reassuring ZOS in its decisions.

ZOS actually DOES listen to feedback. Holiday events, undaunted plunder, just to name a few, were implemented in direct response to forum and player feedback. By the way, the characters' window being richer in figures and information is also a result of players' feedback.

Last but not least, even if you don't spend a dime a the game beyond the purchase of the base game, your hours played are an asset - you contribute to the game's environment by playing it. Hours played are a strong indicator that contributes to investors' trust. You might not contribute to ZOS financial health by spending YOUR money on the game, but you contribute to ZOS getting more money from investors.

Best and worst dlc. Two dungeons are not worth 15 bucks. But they were more MMO content then anything they have released since IC. When Paul sage left the game vision died. Matt is making a online RPG now there will not be tradtional mmo content which is a shame . Don't count on any trials or a focus on group dynamic content from here on out.

Sure, Shadows of the Hist is slim, but it's there. I agree that One Tamriel isn't new content but the two holiday events we've got ARE new content (if only temporary, and it's free). Housing may not sound like "new content" to you but it is huge new content for players like me. Besides, they've mentioned already that Q2/Q3/Q4 2017 updates will include new content in a more tradition meaning of it - zones, quests and instances.

Part of the problem is ZOS has screwed game balance so substancially and wont define what audience it wants that it cant develop content for fear of offending people. Shadows of the hist dungeons were not well recieved and Maelstrom is outright hated, yet instead of looking at the signs, ZOS is confused as to why dungeons dont attract hardcore players by the score.

That's the real reason. The people currently in charge dont know how to manage their own game, and this will continue until they step down.

Well, feelings regarding Maelstroem are indeed mixed. But SotH dungeons not well received.... ???? Can you provide some bakup to this assertion ... ?

In my humble opinion the current team does MUCH better than the previous one at attracting new players and retaining old and new players. And it looks like they've made up their minds regarding the type of players they want to cater to - hence One Tamriel and Housing as a priority. Might not please your own personal preference but it sure pleases mine...

The statement is simple an based on truth. Hands down this is the worst I have seen a AAA studio handle a MMO.
    1) EQ 1 and 2 had 1 /3 of the budget by the three year mark each of them had released 3 full blown expansions with multiple layers in there AA systems.
In the case of eq 2 they released with a housing system , a crafting system that to this day still is hands down best in any MMO period. Had 3 full blown expansions with new level caps had multiple trees in the AA system. And had tripled there raid and single group content. All the while still maintaing the leveling system and quest system as solo friendly. 3x the classes to balance and released 3 dlc's in between making full expansions.

2)AOC probably top 5 most buggy game at launch by three years had one full blow expacs that doubled the size of the world it was massive. Added 4 more tiers of raiding completely re did their itemization and fixed almost all their major issues. (Jesus it took Zos two years to fix their group bug, you literally had a 50/50 chance of being able to invite another person to group ).

3 ) Rift this was a start up studio first time project. Only 60 mil to start the whole studio and produce their first game. They made true dynamic content, gave full events monthly, by 2 year they had given more content away then zos has sold in three. By three they released another full blown giant expac, introduced new souls and battlegrounds. I mean massively expanded and improved the game.

There are more games I could name that have done a fairly decent job but it would be redundant. I know it sounds harsh but they have done a poor job post development. The consumer gets short changed . Let's not act like Zos is this innocent victim of whiny players.

They made a choice to milk this game early . It's extremely clear the content is cheaply thrown out with no longevity to it and the repourpsed content, resold Dlc with a skin that are marked up 3x the original sale . The mounts and premium items that can only be obtained by gambling. They are not available by actually playing the game. It's all predatory buisness practices. Let's not pat them on the back while are pulling a corporate pick pocket.

Ruins of Mazzatun and Cradle of Shadows aren't new content ?

For 80% of us don't do trials, the answer is no.

Lol, these aren't trials, those are dungeons.
Regardless, just because a particular new content doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist and that there's no new content.

those are not trials. umm those are 4 man dungeons with a normal and veteran version. and 80 % population not doing normal trials is not accurate. those normal trials ran daily over and over and over id say 60 percent of the appropriate cp 160 population was doing normal trials in a pug 3 months ago. Not now though the content is played out .

Hmmm am I reading this right? As someone that used to play SWTOR, a game that releases a 30 minute crappy single player-story content per year, makes you re-gear and level and nothing more, I'm baffled. It always amazed me how fast Zenimax adds content or upgrades, and many times for free.

Additionally, we were just told when we can expect to start hearing things. This was released not a week ago:

Matt should go into politics after reading that or speech writing for politicians.
