Someone gets on zone chat tonight and offers 50k for 2 NMG epic daggers. Of course as a crafter I try to pick up any work to make gold. I ask him if he has a crafter..."lolwut?" is his response and then proceeds to call me a scammer and untrustworthy because he found someone to do it cheaper and was baiting chat to see who would scam him. This, added to endless incompetence from people who can't give details on what they want, are the reason I stopped crafting before for other people.

✭✭Funny you say this. Someone on area chat was offering 100k for a julianos set. I took the bait and the dude even paid me in advanced lol. Then after that, he said he also needed a torugs pact staff and said' "I also need a torugs pact staff nirnhoned. Is 30k ok?"
I was crapping myself lol. Of course, I denied the 30k and said the 100k was enough lol. God I almost forgot this happened

✭The Problem doesn't end here...the next part is more of a nuisance...On zone Chat you'll see a lot of LF Crafter. And then if you dare to ask them what they need, there starts the endless quarry of what might be good on their Archer or Mage Warrior or Attacking healer or so so so more chrs. You'd then have to option either ignore the conversation you just had or go on for next 30 min inquiring about their calls and race and then another 30 teaching them about game because that person started playing less than 2 weeks.

It is not a scam if both sides get to an agreement about a price. You have not violated the TOS in anyway, there is no rule about the prices for services players can provide. That is why I offered to sell bethnik twice spiked ale that I crafted myself for 600 000 gold per drink in zone chat. PPl loled on that but it is no scam. It is my right to sell stuff that I created for a price I see fit, and it is their right not to buy if they find it too expensive. On the other hand I sold maybe 12 recipes for that drink for 200 gold each so far. Again, as a seller, it is my right to set price as high or low as I like. And they did, hence so many sales.
Have I exploited something? Cheated someone?
And if someone would want NMG stuff for 50k, I would be an absolute madman to pass that deal. Golden rings will not buy themselves, lol. -

same here. If someone genuinely wants help I will help them but I do not craft things for just anyone anymore. Too many people expect things to be just handed to them....as you can see by the amount of "give me Vigor now" threads out there. They have no Mats at all yet still expect a crafter to make everything CP160 purple or gold for free for them. The whole sense of entitlement some players have drives me crazy sometimes. -

It might come as a surprise but crafters are people too, and their play time is not less important than the client's.Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.

Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.

I make an exception for consumables before a Trials run, if we had to pick up a random or two to hit 12. I have made a lot of blue food at the cooking fires in the Trials lobbies. Why be normal when you can be better?

I have been known to make stuff for free, no strings attached, but I tired very quickly of people not even bothering to say "thanks!". My observation is that too many people expect things to be given to them for free.Edited by Elsonso on December 22, 2016 3:13PM -

LF Master Crafter --> I have no idea how crafting in ESO works, but I need some of it done... I think. I might not know that some sets can be crafted and others cannot, how gear levels or traits or enchantments work, or any number of other things.
WTB Mage armor --> Goodness knows if I'm playing a sorcerer or any sort of magicka character, plan to PvE or PvP, what sort of setup I want to run or what my budget is. Prepare to demonstrate your knowledge of the game if you come to fill my commision.
(side note: I've gotten HUGE tips to the order of hundreds of thousands of gold from a few people like this before, well worth the hour+ of work but you never know if it will work out this way.)
LF Crafter [fill in list of sets, styles wanted] --> I may or may not tip but I will at least offer an order you can fulfill in less than an hour. No hair-pulling required, at worst I might want you to use your own materials which I will happily pay for.
LF Crafter [Imperial City set] --> I might think that offering to "escort" you through the imperial city constitutes my tip, it really is just a friendly offer but you can't be blamed for seeing it as a bit conniving or miserly.
(/tell) Hey, I saw your note in the guild. Could you craft some things for me? --> I might be a friendly guildmate looking to make a quick trade or deal, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect I will offer mats without a tip as a guildy courtesy. OR, I could drop a laundry list of potions, foods, enchantments and armors under the expectation that you will not only make them for me on the cheap or free, but I also expect you drop what you're doing right this second to do it.
EDIT: This is not meant to demonize anyone for their knowledge/language. Crafters will get what I'm talking about

Zaindari✭✭I haven't started crafting for others yet, but this kinda turns me off of it. though I do have to say when I do start crafting for others ill just have to have a set price in stone plus mats, and they can take it or go on down the road. Just like business in real life, if someone offered me an outrageous amount for something I knew wasn't worth it I would feel obligated to let them know the facts and tell them what a fair price would be. If someone else took that price that does not make the a scammer, though they probably wont get repeat customers either. -
