Thoughts about ESO light festival

rebornhunter25
So I enjoy this to a degree mainly because it's ESO of course ha.. and the fact that they do try and come out with new and different events which I'm sure is a daunting task on its own .. but why not make each day for the festival different quests to do ? Doing the same quests over and over and over again every 24 hours is so repetitive and annoying yet I feel with this event is a real love/hate relationship .. also I feel I am going to miss out of the achievement for lockpicking al chests within 35 secs or less just because my skill level is not high enough.. I don't understand why we couldent group up and tackle it :( anyways let me know guys :D
Its just a game, not real life... don't take it seriously

I was told that the locking picking was a personal kind of quest and that grouping was not allowed that's why I stated that point

You can group for all the speed challenges, but you can also complete them solo. I've done both the lockpicking and the signal fires solo, so I know it's doable. For lockpicking the easiest way is to force one or more of the locks, but that requires good legerdemain; otherwise get good at the minigame and hope that the pin positions are near the top of the lock instead of the bottom. For the signal fires, a buff that increases your move speed helps a lot; if your class doesn't have one or you don't have one specced, a rogue's escape draught should be sufficient to do it (as that's what I used).

Yes what I mean is there is an xp increase for the NLF, is there not? if so grouping will reduce xp gain from quests as I understand u share xp when in group, no?

I've been enjoying the dailies for the most part but I have the same criticism for New Life Festival as I did for Witches Festival. It doesn't really have a festive feel to it. It would have been nice if some of the art assets found throughout the cities could have been temporarily altered to give some seasonal decorations. Maybe holly on fireplace mantles or snowy doormats or something.

Group for the quest activity. Get the achievement. Disband the group before turning the quest in. You're not awarded XP until you turn the quest back in to Breda.

I'm glad it's not restricted to one activity per day. I can't play every day so this way when I can get online I can do as many different things as I have time for and want to do, instead of doing just 1 and being locked out of all the others.

Ive enjoyed the event so far. I found it more interesting than grinding skulls in the last one.
I found the dialog to be entertaining and interesting as well.

I agree it would have been nice to have some holiday decor in the main cities and around the festival areas at least.

    My biggest complaints are
The Alcaire castle quest, where you have to spam the command to perform for 5 minutes because the game can't handle more than 1 or 2 people doing it at once apparently.

The fishing holes and event areas getting so crowded that it was difficult to complete them sometimes. What happened to map instancing to alleviate that? Doesn't seem to be working right.

The RNG on some items is horrendous.

In the orphans quest and the Betnick (spelling) quest where you gather the meat and honey....
You need to increase the spawns for the animals you have to kill to complete the quest. 10 people spamming one spawn is a bit rediculous.

Maybe it's me but mud balls instead of snow balls doesnt make a lot of sense, although I'm from a place where it snows in winter and can understand why snow balls might not make sense to someone else.

I couldn't agree more! :D I wish they had done that too, i'm glad they made it the snowy lands but still. I agree they need a little bit more creative with Christmas decorations, would have been neat! At first I was a bit irritated that it was only 9 quest per day...Then having to wait till reset. I don't know if i'm slow with doing these quest or what, but it took almost and 1 to 2 hrs to complete them all, so I almost understand why they made em daily. lol But as I opened my boxes on my characters I was getting some of the rare item's, considering the event has just begun, it shocked me. I'm never lucky with getting the Rare item's. So I know they raised the drop rate for them a little bit better this time around! :) Praise em for that. It took me till the last day of the Witches Festival to finally get a hat on my own without having a guild mate giving me one. lol But any who, I agree with you, I've been enjoying this event a lot, even though it's the same quest daily it's still fun. :D Especially the mudball one. :)o:)

The festival offers a new drink recipe called "Bergama Warning Fire" for increasing max stamina and health recovery. Its pop-up tooltip says it is served only "during the New Life Festival." I made a bunch of them for the future. But will my drinks disappear or be made unusable when the festival is over? I have had items from other festivals that became unusable after the festival.

There seems to be a bug with Breda's Magnificent Mead. After you drink it, and before the 2-hour period ends, if you drink it again, thinking it will reset the timer, it will remove the XP bonus instead. Even the mead's pop-up in your character screen doesn't say "100% more XP" anymore. Keeping drinking it won't help. You have to wait till the 2-hour period is really over, then drink it again, and then it will say "100% more XP".

This festival is boring and tedious. Takes away time from your main game activities AND there's RNG involved...

Witches festival on the other hand you could play what you'd normally do and still partake in the event (except PVP).

    No!
Generally speaking IIRR being in a group gets you an eeny xp boost, groups of 2 & 3 especially... group of 4 might be the same as solo but I don't think you get punished in the xp for grouping.

I would have thought they'd put them in regular fishing holes; Shadowfen conveniently has 3 water types to go with the 3 event fish.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

To begin with, this entire thing was very poorly thought out, but this has already been stated repeatedly.

As to he quests, good and bad here for me:

The fishing, lockpicking, jumping, dancing, performing, and mudslinging were the ones I ground to get my missing bits...

    BECAUSE...

I don't like racing; I don't like standing around mob spawns points hoping to get a hit in x2 (wasps and attackers).

Yes, standing at Breda smackin' her through the quests til I got what I wanted WAS less aggravating for me (and it was still bloody aggavating, lol).

Having said that, 6 out of 9 ain't bad I suppose.

As an aside (cue sarcasm), kudos to ZoS for providing yet another such efficient way for griefers to do what they do best at the dye stations! (In case you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the Mudball Pouch)

Sorry, ZoS, but overall, coal in too many stockings afaic :( .
Try again next year, and put some actual thought into the size of your community ffs!

I appreciate that they did this and I really like the animations - kudos to the team that created them.

We also get a brand new motif for free.

And XP boost for free (better than the one sold in the store) even if you don't want to do the festival.

I'm all for calling out ZM when I disagree with them, but c'mon people...

The speed quests are absurdly easy. If you think they're hard perhaps ESO is not the game for you. Honestly, this post is incomprehensible.

I agree with @Mercutio - the animations are really something special. I wish sorc lightning skills were this smooth and had so little impact on performance.

I honestly enjoyed collecting the skulls during the Halloween event, the dungeons did become repetitive after awhile but the increased xp made it worth doing them over and over .. this event is a constant chore doing the same quests over and over .. it's really like they just slapped some stuff together real quick without adding in the extra touches like the decorations or even a direct portal at the tent where you get the quests .. get a quest , transport through the portal and it'll take you directly there and then complete and the portal reappears to take you back to the tent.. something like that to save the inconvience factor of having to run all over hells creation just to get somewhere
