I've got two grown children, one with special needs and I've been a widow for not quite 18 months and I'd like to feel like I belong somewhere, even if I don't.

This is not pitifull instead it's very brave and honest. Wish i was on pc but i'm on PS4 EU but it seems you're sorted already for christmas. ESO can truelly be a great place to escape reality even if it's just for a little bit.
You do belong somewhere wish you strength and love to get through this horirble grief (18 months isn't that long)
