Housing - what will you use it for?

Hype, excitement, new information and early dissappointments are in the air for housing in ESO. Homesteads seem to support individualism as well as socializing, and will be grafter friendly. There's been positive and negative opinions on the forums, and I'm interested, which features of housing carries more weight.

I for one enjoyed Skyrim's Heartfire. After exploring the world and compliting major quests, it was fun to concentrate in gathering materials, building and customizing a house as far as that system let me. It was a good part of character story. ESO Homesteads seem to have great customization, so I'm excited!

I oddly enjoy the crafted aspect of housing in MMOs and decorating them in a unique way. I have yet to see what kind of possibilities housing in ESO will offer along these lines so I can just remain somewhat hopeful of how it will turn out..

In FFXIV I spent several months of farming, grinding, and crafting to buy and build my house and admittedly had a blast doing it. It didn't offer any storage, but it did have NPCs you could hire to remain on the ground to offer services like repairs and sales of basic materials. The way they even tied unique trophy drops from world bosses added a reason for me to go out and do content so I could craft rare furnishings to make my house look spectacular.

I can only hope that ESO has looked at successful housing in other MMOs before just throwing in some empty content.

I agree very much with this.

And speaking of crafting, somebody might be interested making gold with this. Didn't thought of it 5 minutes ago, oh well...

Using them as a fun minigame.

Nothing actually, because I'm not into instanced housing. I'd get them and never visit them in games that had instanced housing.

I will however be very interested in seeing other player's houses once the game adds diverse crafted furniture and placeable collectibles.

There will be parties. The meat will be of mystery variety. The entertainment willl be legendary. The guild will blow the walls down with the sound of a 21 string lute playing through the fire and flames.*

*Will actually be used as RP housing, and no epic parties.

Speaking of the test dummy/skeleton, did anyone notice the weird part in the video where the character apparently "killed" the skeleton? Isn't the whole point of a test dummy that it can't be killed?

Decorate because why not, roleplay because thats what I enjoy about MMOs the most, craft because at least ill be able to do it without the constant earthquakes of dueling, socializing with guildies because its nice to be able to have guild meetings without all the riff raff of dueling challenges.

I was originally hoping for some storage, but that's just not to be. However, it may still become a useful hub for deconstructing, banking, selling and dps testing (skeleton). It will be a quick teleport to get right there so if it has the right amenities, it could serve as a great rest stop between dungeons and a good place to park toons at the end of the night. I'm not much of a fan of aesthetics so I'll probably just have 20+ skeleton training dummies and give access to anyone in guild that wants to go there.

It likely has a set amount of hp which in my opinion is a good thing as it can become the new standard for dps parses for those that like to keep track of those things.

I'm going to wait till I see it in detail on the PTS in January. I was interested in housing pretty much for storage & armour sets (manikins or whatever). I'm not so interested in decorations or furniture.. even if it's craftable... just not my thing. Deltia's video mentioned something about wall mounted achievements? That sounds kinda cool.

I am not rich (in-game gold) so it would need to be more enticing than golden vendor monster hats for me to spend my gold on it. (ie: useful not just cosmetic).

To really test sustained dps, you ideally want something with infinite hp that doesn't hit back too hard. If it dies after you hit it a few times, it would be useless for testing sustained dps. That's why many players seek out mammoths and other creatures with high hp to test their dps. Test dummies in most MMO's function as "enemies" that can't be killed and don't hit back, so you can really test out your raw dps.

Oh I know, @NewBlacksmurf , But my characters will not settle with same style. Mage guild scholar khajiit obviously needs different place than my fighter-grafter khajiit. You don't think so?
