Hey there,
I played this games a long time ago, and i remember i really had fun, searching for new build, playing something different than the usual "Templar Heal" or "Knight tank".
Thinking about coming back on the game with a new char, there's something that bother me.
I didn't reach the lvl 50 when i first played, therefore, i've no idea how is the "High level" experience, and if ppl like me will be kicked right away or not (I'm thinking about a NB healer actually ^^).

So, is this "play what you want" just a myth ?
Thanks :)

Nightblade healers definitely work, but you won't be invited to any end game trials. Some people will probably stick their nose up at you at group dungeons also and kick you for not being a Templar.
There's a lot of people like me that don't care what class you play, just as long as you know what you're doing. So yeah, I say go for it. You'll still find groups willing to accept a Nightblade healer.

I play a Dragonknight healer. I have never had a problem getting people to agree to run with me in dungeons, aside from one five minute interview/grilling ("Are you SURE you are a healer?") at the beginning of normal Vaults of Madness. (They had had dps-queued-as-healers issues and were still learning dungeons so understandable.)

Regarding endgame, in veteran City of Ash (before the nerf, before I & II) I have had one elitist try to tell me I needed to respec my healer into a magicka DPS and trying to get one of his guildmates to tell me the new build he wanted (the guildmate completely ignored him), and people who haven't run with me (or only ran with me when I was carrying some low-dps friends who needed dungeon gear to improve on that) have told me that my Dragonknight will never be viable for endgame Trials.

But the people I run with regularly, and the high powered DPS with veteran maelstrom completions and endgame trials guilds I run with, like to chant "Dragonknight Healers OP!" and are quick to pick me up as their healer for anything whenever I am available and willing. I have only run one veteran Trial so far, but that's more an issue of "I am still grinding for my gear" and "My work schedule currently requires me to go to bed before you start your run" than anything.

So absolutely, run your Nightblade healer! Nightblade healers are very nice because they heal best when DPSing, so you will eventually have the flexibility to run as dedicated healer with off damage or dedicated magicka damage with off heals depending on your group and the fight itself. That flexibility alone is worth a lot to any group worth anything.
Why be normal when you can be better?

Make friends. Join guilds. Socialize. Friends will not kick you and will help you to improve.

NB healers are fine. You'll occasionally run into snobs if you PUG stuff, but who cares about them.

    I am currently playing DragonMage.
    Magicka DPS dragonknight.
Burning burning burning setting everything on fire. :)

I am only level 14 with it atm and I have heard its not that great later on (Apperently its recieving a buff next patch) but I have been enjoying it so far mobs are really having a tough time killing me before they become ashes. (As a sidenote should I pick up a healing staff as my secondary weapon next level?)

I don't know, perhaps I am just too much of a Skyrim player but I really don't enjoy Dungeons, perhaps it is just too much pressure trying not to die or having to try to keep up with everyone not being able to go at my own pace, having to fight this one boss for ages (some take forever to die), all which have wierd mechanics you have to learn off by heart or you die. *Shrug* perhaps I just don't get the point of MMOs.

Pvp on the other hand...I mean i get squashed in actual fights. especially since I don't have dungeon gear and I only just hit 160 cp on my main (NB stealth archer) and people are running around with 550 so every fight is unfair. But there is a kind of chess match going on about being in the right place attacking the right keeps and resources to help your team out. For whatever reason I actually like PVP despite rarely engaging in actually pvp fights. (for more than the few seconds it takes to kill me)
