It is inarguable that this addition to the game has set members of this community against each other.

    It has been so toxic-.

I hardly blame the crates, and would sooner blame the toxic communities that forums tend to breed. In case you've missed the last 2 years around here, we've always had this sort of division about other things. I really do blame the community of the forums. Of all my friends who are not typical forum users, not a single one has complained - they either didn't buy crates or they did, there was no crying and complaints - or threads about how ZOS is responsible for people's addictions and yada yada.

Forums are a place where one person complains, and everybody else follows suit. There is also always going to be more angry people on any forum, than people who are satisfied - because the people who are satisfied are often playing the game instead of praising it - whereas the opposite can be said for the complainers. That is why every game in existence has horrible forum communities.

It's a place for player's to dump all their verbal diarrhea on one another.

A complete contrast to the typical behaviour on some other MMO forums. Say, FFXIV for example? Yep the attitude here is pretty toxic, but maybe it has been influenced or tipped that way because of the way the community has been treated over the past couple of years?
What some people are willing to tolerate differs from person to person. I have played so many MMO's. Many went f2p and introduced these crates. These I can't tolerate. Before September I rarely complained. I loved the game for what it was since launch. I love this game, care about its future, that's why I have been so vocal. People should be concerned when a company makes a move like this and no one cares.

Thank you jim. I feel the exact same way. I love the game but hate those in charge of it. Those in charge... Not the actual devs. The practice's implemented in games today with micro transactions is ugly and downright deplorable.its this type of design that is breaking the way games are made and maintained. Micro transactions used too be things that cost under 5 dollars and gave you little things too enhance your experience. Now with companys like zos you pay 3 or 4 times that for the same or ultimately less. Disgusting. They justify it by saying they have too recoup there losses from making it f2p but for a game that has a box price and overpriced dlc crownstore items and so on I've seen little too no support in game or on the forums.

All the people wasting money on these stupid crates are just encouraging ZOS to implement more cosmetic crap. Hope people make a stand and not buy cosmetic stuff from crown store..

Agreed. This whole post was meant as not only a warning too how bad crates are but also too point out even the gem conversion is pitiful and broken. Even though I can afford the 5550 crowns wasted some cant and informing people as too just how big a ripoff these crates are was what I intended. All the people twisting it and justifying zos screwing fans and players over can screw off.

I completely agree, and that's the point I was trying to make. The community has been pushed to toxicity by the lies and the c**p it's had to put up with for the past two and a bit years.

This post is a perfect example. A customer with a genuine concern but the only Z response is forum pruning. That's become typical of "community relations" around here. ZO$$$ do barely anything to stem the tide and try to make good with their fanbase anymore.

Could someone please explain how 25 potions worth 1 gem each extract for 4 gems total. I just wasted 5500 crowns on crates. Got 116 gems. Not even close too enough for 1 decent item. Therefore I now hate you yet again zos and will no longer be buying any of your products. Hope losing out on 100's of dollars I would have spent was worth the 50 yo ripped me off on.oh and my now cancelled eso plus sub.

you bought a RNG based box and got a bad hand, it is the risk we take. i spent the same and i got crap as well though im not one bit upset. i knew the risk and i still went for it. It is the reason some hate the boxes, others find it fun to spend a few crowns on here and there. And others simply go insane on them.

I can't speak for FF14 but I've seen enough cancerous forums exactly like this in my time... Warframe Forums, Bioware Forums, Bungie Forums, regular Bethesda forums, Ubisoft Forums... the list could go on, but I don't know, FF14 forums sounds like a nice place - never been there personally, I've never visited a good forum in the sense that atleast once a day there wasn't somebody raging about nonsense. This isn't in contrast to the majority of MMO forums, this is exactly like the majority of forums. FF14 forums, from what you tell me, is the exception, not the standard.

Forums are generally breeding grounds for toxicity. There's always alot of perceived injustices and entitlement.

This is true. Yet again you miss the point though. The rng is so poorly stacked against you that its not worth trying. The crates are overpriced and the gem extraction doesn't work right. But hey if you wanna over pay and stack up on crown store potions go for it. After opening thirty plus boxes you would think something decent would drop yet it rarely does.

When I said twenty five potions for four gems I meant they're supposed too be set at five potions being 1 gem totaling 5 gems. I got 4 thusly according too everything I've seen and read its clearly broken.

This is what I don't get. How they have been treated? We don't own this game. We don't deserve any info before they release it. This is just crazy.

We don't work for them and they don't work for us. You either enjoy playing the game or you don't, that is all there is to it.

Everyone can get upset or angry at something here or there, I know I have. But this is getting ridiculous now. People are coming up with the most bizarre crap to complain about. Once someone mentions something to complain about it is a chain reaction spreading like wild fire.

I have yet to see a single person in game complain about crates. Just here, where people expect a business to take care of everyone's wants and needs, and to throw profit out the window.

And there was a time this community was not so toxic. All it takes is a handful of bad apples to spoil the bunch.

Maybe they should start handing out more temp bans and if the behavior persist then a permanent ban. Pretty sure it is against forum rules to talk bad about zos or it's staff, which has been happening alot lately.

Really man just really. I as well as many others are paying for a service so yes they damn well work for us. At least too the extent of which without us they couldn't do what they do.your Essentially saying. A company can charge whatever they want and not provide anything of quality for that price. As a former coowner of a business I can tell you that you definitely work for your customers. Quality and quantity of services are what push good business forward. Or at least it used too. Its your kind of thinking that allows companies too get away with the garbage they do these days.

Not too mention pricing. Good business also keeps pricing down and in turn generates better sales. Digital distribution cost very little and yet they still overcharge on crown store items.
