How do we get Crown gems?

Before I uninstalled the game I had 600 crowns. I bought one. 3 gems worth of consumables and a circlet that is likely horribly effected by hair color. Yeah...

The conversion ratio is ONE gem to ONE card. So, if one card gives you 5 potions, you will only get ONE gem for those 5 potions.

Exactly WHEN do we have the option to convert an item to Crown Gems, and exactly HOW do we convert them?

Although my characters have several items from a couple of Crown Crates which I don't expect to use, there is no option on the RMB menu displayed for each of these items to convert an item to anything else.

Can't. If you didn't already own the item you're forced to keep it. Only duplicates and consumables can be converted.

Did it ever get answered whether you can use this season's crown gems for next season's crown crate rewards?

They prey upon non-gamers. I prefered LOTRO approach. You can either buy it outright or earn it through a quest or achievement.

A lot of new gamers play ESO & MMOs in general. The appeal of adventure & character customization is very strong. I myself, gaming since I was a wee lad, only buy content. The industry has been in shambles for awhile. Give me expansion packs and DLC over cosmetic bs any day of the week. I also enjoy cosmetics, Hero of Wrothgar here! The difference is I was more willing to 100% new content instead of pay money for a chance to get it.

Content over cosmetics. No point in pimpin' out yo ride if all it does is sit in the garage

The only thing I liked from the crown crate items is some of the new costumes, they are only 15 gems so I might buy it.
Robes would be nice to cover ugly armor. while looking more business like than the civilian costumes.

Agree here, I have no issue with 10K crowns for an mansion, its pretty much the definition of an luxury item. either you have too much gold, money or you are an eso+ player who is unimpressed by the shop.

However paying 1000 crowns for an costume or mount is one thing, having to gamble for it is another.

They want you to buy a ridiculous amount of crown crates to get a even more ridiculously small percentage of obtaining a crown mount. The gems are there for you to think well at least I got something..and if I buy more crown crates that ultimately waste my money..I might be able to eventually one day afford these 400 crown mounts. Never mind that you only get maybe 1-5 gems of a crown crate.

No. There have been a few items that once sold for crowns but are now stuck in the crates. None of the legendary mounts have ever been offered for crowns and once an item goes to the crates, we have not seen it offered for crowns again.

Pretty straight forward... once you get 100,000 poisons you can get the fourth mount of your choice, since you can't even buy the best mounts with gems. Its a shame they don't add the gems to crafting nodes, then there might actually be some use for the unfathomable amount of bots in the game.
