Quests with multiple choices

Hello,

When I finish a quest with multiple choices ... choosing one over the other, does have any influence on the long run, I mean to affect other quests and so on ... or is just for player's morale ?

Thanks

Just for morals sake. Ur choice doesnt affect anything. A couple times u might short cut and skip a few runs to next npc but thats it.

I can't think of a single instance where a choice changed, opened up or closed another quest. However, there are some choices that effect the environment. E.g. there is one quest where you can choose to kill the quest giver. If you didn't choose that that quest giver pops up in the later game and you can talk to and catch up with them. If they're dead, well, they're dead.

It can affect how NPC talk about you, for example a quest on Auridon can make NPCs across the world say:

"You let that woman murder that doctor in Phaer!"
    or
"I've heard about your deeds in Phaer traveler. That was justice well done."

Really other than the occasional NPC comment and how you feel about your choices generally no it has no overall effect what you choose.

I remember doing quests with a friend and if we picked alternate choices, he'd sometimes become invisible for that area for a while. I don't think your choices alter the fate of Tamriel though

But as an off-topic question: For example I got a badge "Master Recruiter" for choosing each quest to find all 3 sailors, but also I could have skipped to find the other 2 after I found the first one (Jakarn).
Would I had got the badge after finish the mission anyway or there is another quest further where I need to free all people/slaves/etc somehow ?

    Thanks

There are no missable achievements, so yes, you would have gotten that after doing the other two quests anyway.

Choices in quests do not have any real long term consequences. In some cases (for example, last quest in Molag Bold questline, or last quest in Mages Guild questline) your choice determines your reward from the quest. In others, your choice of killing an NPC or letting them live will determine whether or not you can run into the NPC in question later in game, just to chat, but it never cuts you off from completing further quests. In all cases random NPCs have the possibility of remarking on your past choices, but that's about it.

There is that one in the town in the center of Glenumbra. You have 2 choices, to let the ghosts rest in peace and the town is still over run with undead. Or let them stay in the torment but the town is safe for people to return. Its a tough choice. I chose to let them rest. But I've wondered what the town would be like if I had gone the other way. Would there be people walking around?

Sometimes they do. The Mage Guild one can net you an extra skill point - and a lot of the others can affect the environment, such as whether or not a town remains infested with zombies.

IMHO, this is one of those designs that sound cool on paper - but end up just being a nuisance when implemented. It usually results with the player going online to read up on the quest to make sure they don't miss out on anything which just breaks immersion and becomes an aggravation.

I frankly don't believe these kind of quests are worth the trouble of developing and wish they'd stop adding them. But I'm probably in the minority on that.

I was reffering to the fact that there is a mission where I can recruit only 1 member of 3 of the crew and then to skip the other 2 in the dialogues or to be helpful and to recruit the other 2 as well, to do the missions. I chosen to recruit all 3 and at the end of the quest I got that achievement "Master Recruiter". My question was, if I was to skip in dialogues after I recruited the first one, that I am ready to sail, without to recruit the other 2, that achievement would had been still unlocked ?

No, as I recall the undead just become non-agressive, making the town safe to travel through...

Personally I would like choices that had more effects. A game world where player choices matter! Now, I know that is less then possible for the whole world due to MMO status, but... more choices that affect things for each character, please? I would adore a "reputation system" that kept track of your choices, and have NPCs react in more then "cosmetic" ways... characters known as paragon of virtue should get some consideration from honest folk, while characters known for a more renegade approach should get respect from the more shady kind of NPCs... that sort of thing...

And more quests where things change for your character depending on how you go. Heck, I had really wished they would have made the TG and DB questline split... allow you a choice right from the start to have your character join either side (TG or IW, DB or OH) and then play the one story, or the other, both ending in the same point, but getting there quite differently... So, the IW storyline for example would also end in the exposing of the string-puller behind the heist and foiling his marriage ploy... but you would get there not through TG quests, but through hunting down corruption and overzealous "bad guards" in the iron wheel itself... while the OH storyline would also end with exposing the hypocrite on top... but get there from the other side, tracking down a coverup in the order to get to the truth - the name of akatosh! It would have been sooooo great...

You would only unlock that achievement after doing all three.
If you chose to sail off without doing it, you would have to travel back and complete the quests to get the achievement.

There are no missable achievements, but you do have to fulfill all the requirements for the achievements in order to unlock them.

    I hope that's a clearer explanation? :)
