I haven't done the VMA that many times, maybe about a 100 times.

    No Fire staves at all
Two Lightning staves. Infused & Precise
    One Ice staff. Defending
Four Bows. Infused & Powered x3
Several Daggers. One Sharpened, none Precise
Several Axes. One Sharpened, none Precise
A few Restoration staves. Precise x2
A few S&B combos. One Sharpened & Precise swords. One Nirnhoned shield
Three 2Hand weapons. Powered Sword and Maul, Nirnhoned Axe

    It's frustrating :disappointed:

I've done VMA now about 80-100 times, i didnt count after the first 10 runs.

    So far i got:
    2 sharp Axes, 1 precise
    2 precise Daggers, no sharp
    1 sharp Lightning staff
1 sharp Ice staff, 1 precise
    1 sharp Greatsword
    1 sharp Mace
    1 precise Battle Axe
    2 sharp Inferno staffs
    5 sharp bows, 2 precise

additional to that some junk traits sure, but my loot was extreme bow, resto and 1h/shield focused. i think i deconned over 25 restos/bows now each. so yea my luck tends to sharp, IF i get one of the good weapons in the first place. anyway, we need a token system!

Yep, Bow and Resto, exactly what I always get. I did VMA all of 3 times over the double loot weekend because it doesn't matter if it's twice the loot when it is manifestly clear to everyone but ZOS that the RNG is broken. What is it going to take before you do something about it ZOS?

I think 4 clears is not enough to create reasonable opinion about vMA loot.

if in 4 runs u get 3 resto and 3 s&b yes it is.

    No its not.

    Forwarding from the https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/302215/double-vma-loot-which-weapons-did-you-get#latest thread:

Okay so, I've taken all the loot I got from vMSA, the loot of the people who posted there...

Nice charts and all, but your statistics is based on what upset people on a forum writes, and after that you take the ones that actually writes both trait and weapon type. The data is so narrowed down that it's utterly useless. The only way we would know if the drops are rigged or not is if ZOS actually presents the real data, like they do sometimes, with Deltias helm drops for example.

I personally think it's rigged though, since I've gotten in my ~10-20 runs 6 S&B and 5 resto staves. Stupid RNG system. I might have some bad luck though, but a lot of other peeps seems to get a majority of resto staves and S&Bs too...

Just to add to the horror stories - a guildmate of mine started running vMA for the first time ever this week. He ran it 8 times in quick succession on his magicka sorc, getting a total of 16 drops. He sent me inventory screenshots yesterday - 16 S&B - 8 S&B double-drops in a row.

He didn't find it amusing when I told him that the probability of this series of events occuring is ~ 0.00006% (Assuming that all drops - including in 'double drops' are independent, with the probability of a S&B drop at (1/12 [mace]+ 1/12 [sword]).

It's alright though; he got a charged restoration staff on his next run... and another S&B.

He's even produced a conspiracy theory about how which of the two NPCs is standing at the front when you arrive to vMA is an indicator of what drops you will get...

I totally agree with you OP... since the event started I've done over 30 vMA runs (my whole free time after work and on the weekend), and still no inferno staff, and in most cases I got S&B, resto and a few bows. I got much more inferno staves before the event but of course with crappy traits. So my guess is that for this event ZOS has changed the drop chance for inferno staves (and maybe the staves in general, except for resto), just to prevent many players to get it that "easily"...

What I also noticed is that the only maelstrom set which is farmed by people for being quite useful, i.e. winterborn (for various frost based builds), has noticeably lower drop chance.

ZOS knows which items are desired by people, lowers their drop chance and clearly wants people to spend their whole lifes in a solo content in a MMO game... So instead of enjoying the content which is fun, people are doing something they don't like just to... not receive their desired item after all.

I suggest anyone making a VMA thread tie it to double loot weekend or RNG in general so it doesn't get cast away from the general forums into the low populated dungeon forums. People need to know this stuff is rigged so they won't bother wasting their time on it.

    those statistics are ***
the real statistics you get from most people who are not probably on this forum
people are running it hundreds of times for the weapon they want
and there are many who stopped bothering with it because its *** solo instance with chance lower than 1% for you to get what you want, and when you do it, its not like the next time you do it the change becomes 2% or 3%. the chance 1% stays 1% if you do it once or a million

It's not rigged... The weapons just have different probabilities to drop, with smaller chances for the most desired weapons

Hmmm. That is manipulating the process to favor certain results.

Casino games are rigged / skewed / tilted / designed to favor the House. Craps, roulette, blackjack (aka 21) etc are all random games designed to favor the casino.

Designing the random game of blackjack so the player is highly unlikely to get their winning card is similar to designing the random weapon drop so that the player is highly unlikely to get their winning item.

I myself have been seeing a disproportionally large number of medium and heavy stamina / health based sets drop. Sunder flame, ember shield, automaton, leviathan, dreugh king slayer, bark skin, bastion all seem to drop 3 or 4 times per single unit of their light armor counterpart. it should be even numbers between the sets, if it was an unweighted one-in-three chance; but I don't see that as how it's been happening.

Regarding vet maelstrom, it hadnt really drawn my attention and when I got two heavy permafrost items (Sabatons I think) for my light armored magplar, what little motivation I had drained away.

Another run another S&B. Yeah its definitly rigged so that in the event you still don't get more useful items, just a S&B and a resto and then a normal drop

Look I might be told I'm lying.. BUT my first run yesterday, got precise bow and decisive resto.. ran it again, I got the same EXACT weapons, precise bow and decisive resto!

So I was frustrated, decided to run the daily vet dungeons. I got 4 keys from the easy pledges. I opened two of each of the side boxes, don't have the name to them. I got two grothdar shoulders from one and two maw infernal shoulders out of the other box!

I don't believe it's random rng, based strictly from what happened to me yesterday.

Funny thing is, if we saw a wide scope of drops from everything, we wouldn't be provoked into tracking dozens of drops. But they manipulate things from the start, having only certain pieces drop here and other certain pieces drop there and only jewelry drop in the third place... So from the starting line we know they have made the rng in a manner that manipulates us into doing content.

With that clearly explained in the docs, it's a short jump to suspect they weight the entire random reward system - from vma to dungeon boss to dungeon miniboss to heavy sacks to just about everything - on hidden variables.

Example, the Halloween event. I just looked at what ended up in the pack mule inventory space that was cleared by my craft bag:

    For recipes...
    Eyeballs 30
    Crunchy pumpkin 18
    Spider skewer 9
    Bloody Mara 6
    Brains 7
    Eyebowl 9
    Sanguine apples 16
    Party punch 25
    Potent brew 12

    For hollow jack motifs
    Shoulder 12
    Axe 14
    Belt 6
    Boot 8
    Bow 10
    Chest 10
    Dagger 12
    Glove 10
    Helm 13
    Legs 19
    Mace 5
    Shield 12
    Staff 12
    Sword 11

I got JUST ONE mask to drop. In the final hours of the thing, after farming that AND two characters learned all the motifs and all the recipes, was when I got my very first and ONLY mask drop. Pumpkin mask, by the way. (And it turns out an alt still has the effect).

Good thing I managed to buy one of each mask before the event ended, from people who had masks drop every day.

So, I now wonder... Did I unknowingly set up such a poor drop rate for myself by not selling or destroying a bunch of those earlier in the event? Do they have a hidden tracker that can be set to encourage different things, like 'try a stam set' by giving my magplar lots of stam gear, or set to repeat what we want by whether we keep stuff like during the Halloween event 'he kept motifs so give him more / he kept recipes so give him more'????? (Edit: I don't mean in general with the 'give him more', but for the Halloween, it would explain it)

Like I said. They declare that they design the drop system to only give certain pieces in certain places. Jewelry from the big boss, pushes us to farm the entire dungeon over and over hoping a necklace randomly drops. From data we can see that some weapons have an unequal chance to drop. Just look at the intro of the mythic aetherial xp potion recipe - gotta farm all 7 of the psijic recipes again, when some have not made a full recipe after a year, and then to craft it you need the rare perfect roe plus yet another extremely rare ingredient.

How far does this skewing of a 'random' system go?
