Selling in ESO

I have various items that form part of sets which I can't use.

In terms of selling them in ESO to other players, which is best?

Any help/info around selling would be great!

Join a trading guild in a popular location.

If you play on PC platform, get Awesome Guildstore addon and search the guildstore for what those items you have are worth, then put them at a price that is lower than everyone else.

Sell only at a more high price, if you see 1 item worth 30k be put to ridiculous low price - then you can either buy it, or just put yours in the guildstore for sale - if your price is right, it will be sold after ridiculous priced one.

i have found that doing /z and linking the items in the area they drop is a reasonable way to sell stuff like that. though the traits will determine how well the pieces sell.

join a few good trading guilds, and then you can list them at the bank. Never sell to or buy from NPC vendors.

If I have a lot of stuff, and I'm in a kind mood, I go to my friends or guild list and look for someone who is displaying the level of the item I have, and mail it to them with a note saying 'looked to be about your level, use or sell'.

    Seems to work pretty good.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Thank you for this, the trading guild I was on was quite small and eventually ended. I will go try and join a new one.
I will get the addon you have mentioned so I at least have an idea on value.
This is great, thank you again!

not really personal preference more what is generally desirable at the moment. for instance gloves with divines trait v gloves with prosperous trait of the same set. the gloves with divines will sell reasonably easily for a decent price. i doubt anyone would buy the prosperous ones though.

No it's because certain traits are way more sort after such as "sharpened" on weapons, "divines" or "impen" on armour etc etc, :)

No, impen, divines, on smaller pieces sell more, maybe well fitted, infused, and impen on big pieces typically sell best

OP in case you play on PC/EU then go to zonechat of the following maps and ask to join guilds that have their trader located in:
    Belkarth (Craglorn)
    Rawl Ka (Reapers March)
    Elden Root (Grahtwood)
    Mournhold (Deshaan)
    Wayrest (Stormhaven)

    What sells if cp160:
    Jewelry: purple or gold quality
weapons: sharpened or precise trait - quality doesn't matter because it is upgradeable
armor: divine, impenetrable, well-fitted and sturdy traits - quality doesn't matter because it is upgradeable

    What sells if level 1-cp150:
    Jewelry: all quality
Weapons: training trait preferred but not needed, any quality
Armor: training trait preferred but not needed, any quality goes

Once you join a trading guild, you can get the Master Merchant addon, it will sum up the sales from all your guildstores and show you what items have been bought for. It's a great addon for that purpose, but don't trust it blindly, use Awesome Guildstore to see what items are put for sale for, otherwise you end up wasting your time and gold.
Often when we get new DLC or major patch, item prices go high - shortly after the prices drop. So this addon is only good to tell you what items have been sold for, and wether or not it's worth even trying to sell your loot compared to just deconstructing it all.
@VinyParsley2016 I hate zonechat trading sooo so soooo much lol and I am aware that not everyone is as unlucky as I have been with zoneselling, but my bad luck have kept me from doing this.

I wrote WTS: *item link* 7k each and whispered "pls gimmi 16 3k each, cuz I'm poor".
I put the same items in guildstore for 12k and got it sold.

I wrote WTS: *item link* 150k and get whispered and grouped up for the trade, guy says he needs to relog to get gold from his other char, never returns ..>:) #¤%&/() bloody noob!

I wrote WTS: *item link* 1.5million FAST TRADE! ....get whispered by a guy who asks if he can pay me in x amount of hide, y amount of cloth, z amount of purple upgrades and 137k gold.

Guy writes WTS: *item link* in zone, I whisper that I want to buy it ...he doesn't respond, I find out after 1 hour from my one of my trading guildchats that he's in pvp and has tuned off his chat. I see him in pve zonechat after 1 hour type WTS: *item link* and I whisper him back, but he doesn't respond ....#¤%&/( later that week our guildmaster in the trading guild officially threatened to kick players who WTS in guildchat and directly goes afk/pvp/toilet vacation.

I wrote WTB: Vampire Bite 7k (price was 3k at the time) FAST! ....poop noob offers bite, we group up and I go to shrine with my friend who was supposed to get the bite, poop noob walks into solo dungeon to quest because it was on the way. 30min later he learns to read the group chat, gets out of dungeon and comes to shrine - but he doesn't have a bite ready, he has to receive a bite from his friend and do the quest before he can bite my friend, 45-50min later my friend gets that damn bite.
...then he invites my friend and me to friends list, because we're the only high levels he has ever met or chatted with, and wants to do veteran dungeons x_x he was level 27.

Everything can be traded, even in crazy prices. Remember some guy yelling day by day on general chat for some recipe, willing to pay ridiculous 50k gold. Or crazy someone who paid 250k for this staff :):

Sharpened swords cost 400k, sharpened sun set swords go for 600k >.< certain parts of some sets are really worth a ton in specific traits, other items of the same set can cost 200g, the weapons in wrong/bad traits can cost 2k-80k. It's due to the fact that despite being overfarmed, the demand for the items is still much higher than what sellers can provide.

cp160 jewelry can be sold in greens & blues if it's within the first 1-2 weeks of new DLC with new/updated sets, otherwise the price drop to 200g and only purple and gold sells. So just vendor those useless ones, even the purples who are low-cost.

Ah i made a mistake, when I wrote "sharpened swords cost 400k" i meant Spinner set swords. It really depends on how easily they are farmed, and how wanted they are.

Expensive sharpened weapons that are beneficial for magicka users:
    Spinner
    Soulshine
    Sun
    Stygian
