Is it wrong to have an Argonian name on a other race.

I know it sounds like a silly question. But the Argonian names for example, Steps-Lighty, or like See's-all-Colors. I'm referring to all the Argonian names with an dash in them. Anyways my question is, is it ok for any other race to have an Argonian name? I want to make a Dunmer Dk and have a dash name but idk if it's wrong... lol....

No, nothing wrong with that. And you can always give your character a story on how they got that name :)

There is a Dunmer in Skyrim named Brand-Shei who was raised by Argonians.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Depending on the name it could also be that it's simply hyphenated and nothing to do with Argonians.

There's real life people called things like Sarah-Jane or Mary-Beth, they're certainly not argonian (or raised by argonians), so I don't see why other people in Tamriel couldn't also have a hyphenated name.

It's less their name and more a translation of an unpronounceable/private name in their native tongue, you only ever see beast races with those names.

Some of these Cyrodiilic names are the only names that Argonians that were born slaves have. But yeah, there are examples of Cyrodiilic names that are just translations of their actual names.

Lol sorry to be a party pooper but why would a dunmer ever have the name of an argonian after they enslaved them?
No dunmer in tamriel would realisically be given a arognian name at birth or given the name themself.

They are still individuals, don't put everybody of the same race in the same bag. There is a Dunmer in Greenshade who wants to be a Khajiit. OP's Dunmer might not have lived a single day of their life anywhere near the house Dunmer. Or maybe their family had slaves, but the slaves escaped and took OP's character with them when they were a baby, gave them an Argonian name and raised them as their own.

That doesn't mean a certain behavior is acceptable by all individuals of a certain race. My Khajiit has absolutely 0 progress in her Legerdemain skill line, it doesn't matter if she could be a good thief due to her race because it isn't something she would do as an individual.

But if you still are not convinced, have a chat with Elam Drals in the Dark Brotherhood. He is a Dunmer, an Assassin and still against slavery.

Every quest my Khajiit did that now requires breaking in she did before the Justice System was released, when you broke no law while questing. She doesn't even carry any lockpicks, and she doesn't do crime-related quests.

Drop the racial stereotypes, man. They limit creativity. Try to see the characters in the game more like real, breathing individuals who can be whoever they want to be, despite their race.

Sticks in the mud would probably say yes, but the game supports this in canon through adoption. There are actually quite a few NPCs in the game that have the culture and naming conventions of another species, most likely due to adoptive parents. My favourite example is perhaps the fellow in Mistral who's snooping around and trying to bust skooma dealers. He wears khajiiti attire, he speaks like them, but his voice and appearance is most certainly mer (altmer, if I recall).
