Okay, lets face it, we are stuck with this turkey, a trait that gains you less gold than traits that refuse repair costs, a trait that at present does pretty much zip other than clog up loot tables. So how about this.

Change prosperous to have an effect as follows. Each set you use can have the required number of pieces reduced by one as long as one of them is prosperous. No more, no less. So if you had three sets you could get three discounts. At the same time you change the way that max stats effects weapon and spell damage so that you end up with the same bonus you get now but instead of if being calculated off your highest stat it would be your pool as a whole.

If nothing else it would kick open the door to a whole world of builds. This meathod worked in other games, why not here?

That seems too powerful to me.
I'd suggest something like the "Treasure Hunter" bonus. Wearing Prosperous pieces should increase your chance of getting a higher quality (or additional) loot item from chests and bosses.

Prosperous just isn't very prosperous. The math is there to back it up. It doesn't do what it's specifically designed to do better than impenetrable. In addition it doesn't have any combat usefulness which is what's required for endgame gear. Fix one or both of these problems and it may just have a use. Better yet, remove it/rework it into something that actually does the job it's designed for.

My suggested fix is to make non combat traits secondary. As in they can drop in addition to combat related traits on gear. I hate getting prosperous monster helms, but if I got a divines monster helm and 10% of the time it had both divines and prosperous or divines and training together, I'd be quite happy with that. It's not any more powerful in combat, but gains a small little bonus for non combat purposes if you're extra lucky.

Best use for it, research it on your way to crafting nine trait gear.

Sorry but the trait needs to produce something like 200-300% more gold per any type of loot
    AND
    Increase drops of yellow items

Basically the Diablo 2 magic find idea.
