You can already pre-download it on steam - I just have done it - it does not unpack until launch date though.

Skyrim has decent stealth gameplay, unlike ESO, which has just a detection radius and no shadow or obstacle really counts. ESO is shallow compared to Skyrim. ESO is huge and has more content, but more is not always better - in this case it isn't.

Sorry, have to disagree with you here. I find Skyrim a far more shallow experience than ESO. The only thing it does better is the caves and delves (it does have some massive and beautiful Dwemer ruins.) But apart from that ... Ehhhhhh. Don't get me wrong, I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on Skyrim, and I always love playing through any ES title. They are always wonderful experiences. But the combat is atrocious and floaty, horse riding is weird and feels clunky, and not a lot of the quests are particularly memorable. I think nostalgia goggles have a lot to answer for ...

But the pluses of Skyrim are that the world is quite beautiful, Solstheim was oodles of fun, as I mentioned before - the caves and delves are awesome.

However, different strokes for different folks.

You might be correct with vanilla Skyrim, but I played it with so many mods, that Skyrim became a really demanding survival game to me. The ability to mod Skyrim is just awesome, you do not have to put up with things you do not like, unlike in ESO. And unlike ZOS, Bethesda does not try to rip someone off. At least not yet. I am so disappointed into how ZOS handles ESO. ESO is just a time filler until a real TES game will be released again.

I enjoyed Skyrim on PC. I loved the graphics mods but tried using things that don't impact gameplay too much. Eso got me to put down Skyrim. Played eso on PC and transferred to PS4. Now due to the direction ZOS is going I am returning to Skyrim this time on PS4. Without mods of course because PS4 doesn't really support it.

Well, I read that "live another life"-mod is available with the special edition - try at least that one, it gives you the opportunity to start the game in a different way (the original beginning is an option in it as well). I liked that mod a lot, because you are able to postpone the main story for as long as you want and start in different locations with different starting equipment as well. The main story starts, when you visit Helgen with this mod - it will unlock the "Unbound" quest as soon as you get near to Helgen. I liked the "left for dead" start in a random location. But one can as well start as a property owner and get one of the player houses and start there for example - a good mod.

I have used it on PC. It is on Xbox one. It don't think PS4 can use it. i think it has external assets.

I will never forget when I chose "left for dead" in a random location and I was using the winter edition of Climates of Tamriel together with Frostfall - and guess what?- my random starting location was in the middle between Winterhold and Windhelm, extreme weather conditions and all I got were some rags, nothing else - I had to run like crazy to get to Windhelm, before I would be totally frozen - this was an awesome start, I had to outrun Frost Trolls and bears - and I hardly made it.

Theres a reason Skyrim was a massive success worldwide and thus made ESO a very anticipated, and unfortunately disappointing game (at launch). Skyrim is largely regarded as one of the greatest RPG's ever made.

It's a masterful game at immersion and exploration. You would be doing a disservice to yourself by not playing it, if you like RPG's.

Apparently it will be supporting them at some point, they have approval to add mods to both Skyrim (tho just remastered version I think) and Fallout 4 on PS4 and XBox. I believe Fallout is getting them first but I'm super excited as I've only ever played Elder Scrolls games on consoles so never had a chance to mod before!

Oh Skyrim is an amazing game, and it's oh-so-similar to ESO. If you use a controller or are on a console, you can configure the bindings so they're similar to ESO. My settings are kinda the opposite tho xD I have things set up more like Skyrim's gamepad bindings.

I would say Skyrim is worth it. My son bought it for me a few years ago, and it's a game I keep returning to. I love finding and reading the books , especially since I can make some comparisons between ESO and Skyrim lore. I haven't heavily modded mine, just a few simple things to keep NPC's from getting killed by stupidity :) Be prepared for occasional startles. The Draugr in ESO just don't scare me, but the ones in Skyrim freak me out every time! So do the occasional sneaky Saber Cats :)

The difference is in size of the mods - PS4 will support modding up to 1 GB, xbox one up to 5 GB - afaik.

Yeah, the shipwrecked version with winter edition and Frostfall is something what cannot be done alive as well - you have to go through freezing cold salt water and you will be so soaked, that you cannot even run anymore and will die.

What I mean about not really supporting it is it is very limited on PS4. You can't use any assets that don't come with the game. This means no new models, textures, sound files, or scripts.

Use slow poison on your weapon - the first hit will slow them down by 50% and even with low skills that poison lasts for at least 20 seconds, so these enemies will be less of a problem with it. Against Draugrs fire magic is the best.

Well, looked at it like that, why do we play different games then at all?- In pretty much every modern game - and in old ones as well, it is about killing stuff, fetching stuff, and trying stuff on. If we argue like that, why do we need more than 1 game at all?

IMO Skyrim is worth it - because it is 1. not a running simulator and 2. you will become a hero, whereas in ESO if you achieve the highest level you are just the same as thousands of others and before you are a no-one. There is a huge difference between Skyrim and ESO. And shooting a bow or a crossbow is actually fun - you have to aim - and the special edition has no longer a distance limit, you can shoot at all what you see and the arrow will actually go there - if you elevate enough.

Edit: and the most import point for me - in Skyrim a Khajiit looks like a Khajiit, and not like a dog with coped ears.

I've been an ESO player since it came out on Console and never played Skyrim... I am a little afraid of this whole first person mode in this remastered Skyrim version. I'm so used to 3rd person view. I think first person looks extremely ugly imo.

When I first played this game I played in first person; I think because it was what I was used to from Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim; now though I do third person and first person just doesn't feel right. I'm happy though they added the first person perspective; as honestly it's a must for any Elder Scrolls game.

Once Oblivion gets remastered so we're not playing "World of the potato people" then I'll throw all my money at it. Until then, while Skyrim is good, all the abilities and systems in ESO actually make it a better game from a customisation pov even if most of them are pants.

Although I'm hopeful that Skyblivion gets a full release soon and then I'll be forever gone from here.

They are very different games. I have hundreds of hours on the original release of Skyrim and loved every minute of it. I plan on getting the remastered version when it comes out tomorrow and I'm SOOOO stoked for it. I was new to ESO after playing Skyrim and while there are some similarities, they are way different. I have hundreds of hours on ESO too, but I'm super excited to get back into Skyrim. If you've never played Skyrim before, I strongly recommend it

Eso and Skyrim are both great games, and they are both very different from each other. If you like being the only human player in the game play Skyrim. If you enjoy a more social game then ESO. I personally enjoy them both. I came to ESO as Elder Scrolls fan, and while I did not like the MMO idea at first and spent the majority of my time solo, I now really love the social part of MMO's.
