We've been seeing a lot of confusion over Enlightenment and how the system works, so we wanted to explain it a bit more thoroughly for you. In simplest terms, Enlightenment is a bonus for the XP you earn while playing that counts toward your Champion Point progression.
Every 24 hours, you receive enough Enlightenment to earn one Champion Point at the rate of 100,000XP per Point; after your Enlightenment is used up, you will return to requiring 400,000XP to earn a Champion Point. The 24 hour timer starts when you log in with your first Veteran character or unlock the Champion System, whichever is first, and resets every 24 hours after it first starts. You will receive a message on your screen that you are Enlightened, and you can also hover over your XP bar to see if you are Enlightened.
If you end up not using up all your Enlightenment while you play, it will continue to accrue for a maximum of 12 days. Once you hit the limit, you will not gain any additional Enlightenment until you begin to use it by gaining XP.
In addition, there were a number of issues with Enlightenment when it was first introduced, and have since been fixed as of patch 2.0.1. Below is what we addressed:
- Fixed an issue where logging in with an existing unconverted character for the first time could restart the enlightenment process, once the process had begun.
- Fixed an issue where it would appear as though a new character was accruing enlightenment.
- Fixed an issue where it would appear as though you had gained a Champion Point, but were not able to use it.
- Note: This was due to a desyncing issue, and you did not lose out on any earned Enlightenment or Champion Points.
- Fixed an issue where it would appear as though you were Enlightened and progressing through the Champion System faster than you actually were.
We hope this helps, and let us know if you have any further questions!
What throws a wrench into this discussion is the post from @ZOS_GinaBruno that @Sigtric kindly provided is that was posted before the Catch-up Mechanic was introduced, or quite frankly ignores it. We all know the first 380ish points take less than 400K Exp each to gain, where the first points take like 32K or some similar small number. I think the tipping point is around 380 Champ Points, but that could have moved as they raise the cap.
So, knowing that, how does enlightenment stack on the lower end of the curve as 12 days worth of points after the tipping point could be 1.2 Million Exp or it could be about 400,000 Exp at the low end of the curve. And, how does the enlightenment work for someone at say 650 points where it costs 790,000 exp to gain a point, is each day worth 400K or 790K? I would think it would be closer to the 400K figure based on how I go on and off and enlightenment being at 651 Champ Points. Which makes me really wonder what happens at the bottom end of the curve.
Only someone who is starting a new character could give some insight into that. @UrQuan what have you noticed on your alternate accounts?
Tested many times, its 400k per day

But yeah, @X3ina is right, it's a flat 400K worth of enlightenment per day, even though it takes way less XP than that to earn a CP when you've just become level 50 for the first time.
Actually, as I just recently got my first level 50 on my 3rd account (my 2nd has had level 50s since cake week) I discovered a couple of things I didn't realize. You start off with 10 CPs rather than starting at 0. I'm pretty sure that's relatively new, as I could swear that when I got my first level 50 on my 2nd account I started with no CPs. You also start off with no enlightenment, and only get it the next day. I can't remember if that part is new, or if it's been that way since CPs were introduced.

I was getting both calcinium and Kresh fiber once i began silver, but the wolves on both the starting islands for the DC faction dropped iron hide. I didn't notice this until now when i went to up my clothing to level 6 for the writs. It's still at level 5 as I won't be able to do writs if i increase my tailoring to 6. I'm now in Glenumbra and it's only the above resources showing up along with ironhide from the imps, crabs etc. The gear I'm finding is ironhide too.
I'm a hoarder and having played this game on a different system before, I've been breaking down everything I've found to level my crafting skills, so I'm not a noob to the crafting side of things. Pretty sure i had this issue back on the xbox too.
